This book is overwhelming! There’s a lot to think about, a lot to implement, and I don’t know if I can do it. I know I am not consistent in following through on giving points or taking time to teach what I really NEED to teach. What I do know is that what I’ve been doing for the last 26 years is not working for me or for my classes. Something has got to give—I’m tired and not enjoying my job anymore. I’m willing to give WBT a try. Start small, try the Magic Circle and Starries. I’ll add on from there.

There are some great ideas in here - particularly for improving explicit instruction - but I find a lot of the strategies are really overwhelming and kind of overcomplicated for someone who’s starting out (I had to reread some chapters several times to understand Super Improver). Doesn’t necessarily fit my context but I can absolutely see why it’s so popular in the States.

Man are they obsessed with dice rolls though.
