Court of Blood and Binding #2
Crown of Mist and Heat
I'm alone in the Summer Court, a prisoner of the High Lord and his accomplice.
Zared is a world away. The rest of my pack might as well be. The High Lord calls me a guest, but we know the truth. He won't let me go now he has me.
And maybe I don't want him to.
To earn the freedom I crave, I need to control the darkest parts of myself. The parts I don't want to admit to having. The parts that draw my pack to me.
Or will they shatter us?
**This is a reverse harem, omegaverse, epic fantasy romance, with adult content and hot wax.**

filler
This book was kind of filler. Unveiling secrets to each other to further the story along. Like a lot and nothing happened at the same time. A setup for the next book. The plot definitely thickens though. In Book 1, they said it wasn’t a guarantee that they’d turn into fae just because they were omegas. But all three sister maidens turned fae. Why is that? I also thought it was dumb for Khala to spill her guts about what was going on to her sisters. Also, it’s very weird for what’s building between Khala and Cavan given who he was supposed to marry. I feel like it’s crossing a moral line. I don’t particularly care for only one guy having a POV per book. This book is also significantly shorter than the first.
Side note(spoiler), seeing as though her father is mortal, her mother will probably eventually outlive the entire family and could come back to fae lands.

Crown of Mist and Heat is the second book in Maggie Alabaster's Court of Blood and Binding series. Thank gods this series is a rapid release, it's dang near addicting.
So turns out Cavan isn't as big of a jerk as I thought. I'll admit, Ryze colored my view of him right along with Khala. After getting to know him in this book turns out I like the Summer Lord. Instead of the usual fae mistrust and pigheadedness (oh, it's still there but not as bad), Cavan is more open and willing to talk to and work with the other lords. He also fits in with the group fairly well, his banter isn't on point like the rest if them but it's pretty good.
Tavian "Tave" is still my favorite person, he's all adorable and playful but has sharp edges that can kill you. The playful banter between him and Khala has taken a turn for the dirty and every time the group turns to look at the pair Tavi says "It's an omega thing." It's hilarious. Vayne is being Vayne while Ryze is trying to make up for breaking Khala's trust. As for Khala, she's fitting in well and the guys didn't sideline her, she is truly a part of the group. When it comes to certain situations I'm not a patient person. The Zared plot twist in A Song of Scent and Magic devastated me, I didn't have to wait that long, this book answers all the questions I had.
The plot of this book revolves around the two mythical fae courts, the Court of Dreams and the Court of Shadows. Khala and the guys (Cavan included) start to examine everything and put pieces to the puzzle together. Missing fae, strange magic, visions, and that's just part of it. I like that each of the seasonals has its own theory about the mythical courts, it adds to the mystery. It's a bit like a scavenger hunt gathering things for an epic quest. Visiting the human territory and staying (briefly) at the Autumn Court. By the way, everyone hates Harel and I don't blame them, he's a miserable fae and I'm kind of hoping there's a reason to get rid of him. I have a feeling he's gonna be trouble.
I loved Crown of Mist and Heat, the story went in an unexpected direction with a patchwork group of characters that I didn't expect. I enjoyed all the twists and turns that Maggie threw at readers. I have to say that while I did believe that a certain character couldn't be trusted, even I didn't see that ending coming. Wtf is going on? Once again I'm thankful that this series is a rapid release.

“Crown of Mist and Heat” is the second book in this rapidly released series and the plot becomes truly intriguing in this one… It’s clear good and bad isn’t all that black and white, and it’s fascinating to find out where everyone stands. With every chapter, new questions arise and it just made me turn the pages quicker and quicker in the hope to find out more.
I love how Khala’s harem grows bigger in this second book, and now I’m curious to find out if more men will be added in the next book(s)!? The dynamic between the men only becomes more interesting with the growth of the harem, and I keep on loving their endless banter.
And then, when I thought I had seen it all, there was the ending of this book... Massive cliffhanger! Like “scream and throw your kindle at the wall” cliffhanger! I can’t wait to get my hands on book three now!

This is the continuation of Khala's journey through the seasonal courts of the fae. As with book 1, the writing is top notch with wickedly smart banter between the various characters. Those scenes of levity are balanced by the serious nature of Khala's mission and some seriously sexy moments between almost every combination of individuals.
The books in this series must be read in order to understand the plot. The first 3 books of the series end in a cliffhanger with the resolution in the final book 4.
It's certainly no hardship to read these stories and I rate these books among the top I've ever reviewed.

This series keeps getting getting better and better. It was great to see Khala and the other Omegas learning more about there magic. The humor bantering between Ryze and Cavan is just the best. I found myself snort laughing a few times during the read. This second book gives you more insight into Khala and her pack and her trusting more. Khala and her relationship with Cavan is getting interesting. We also get to learn a bit more about where Khala came from. Can’t wait for book three.

So much adventure!
I am just so hooked on this series. I love the characters so much. The author did such a good job making you question whether or not certain characters were good or bad.
Really love this series!

😻
That ending was brutal. Definitely did not see that coming. Things are definitely a bit messed up. Can't wait to start the next book.
