Cartea prezintă viața plină de peripeții a unui tânăr chimist pe nume Pablo Simón, membru într-o Frăție de filosofi hermetici care, într-o perioadă dominată de Inchiziție, lucrează în taină la protejarea înțelepciunii milenare, însuflețiți de mesajul de iubire al Maestrului lor.
Văzându-se nevoit să-și părăsească orașul pentru a scăpa de prigoana Sfântului Oficiu, Pablo Simón se îndreaptă spre Orient. Acolo, în India, va găsi cheia Științei Oculte. Însă magia îndepărtatului ținut îl reține, făcându-l să-și uite scopul călătoriei, până când îl întâlnește pe cel numit în Occident Giordano Bruno, omul persecutat de Biserică pentru doctrinele lui, văzute ca o amenințare la adresa dogmelor, omul văzut de Pablo Simón în vis și care avea să dea un răspuns căutării sale.
Pablo Simón se va întoarce alături de el în Europa, oprindu-se înainte în Egipt, patria hermetismului. Apoi va reveni la Frăție și își va relua muncile, cu toate că dușmanii îl țin permanent sub observație.
Condamnarea lui Giordano Bruno îi umple inima de ură: este ultima probă de pe drumul lui și e gata să cadă... Însă formația primită în Școlile din Orient și din Occident îl salvează de capcană. Destinul îl va duce implacabil pe urmele Maestrului său Giordano Bruno și a atâtor altor filosofi ai secolului XVI, victime ale ignoranței și fanatismului vremii lor.

18 books21 followers"Professor Jorge Ángel Livraga Rizzi was born in 1930 in Buenos Aires to a family of Italian origin and obtained Italian nationality in 1975.
He studied Medicine, specializing in the Medicine of Ancient India, through the Adyar Section of the Theosophical Society in India.
He also obtained a Bachelor's degree in History of Art and Philosophy from the University of Buenos Aires.
At the same time, he received instruction from C. Jinarajadasa and N. Sri Ram, both of whom were presidents of the Worldwide Theosophical Society.
In 1957 he founded the School of Philosophy "in the classical tradition" which later became incorporated under the name of International Organization New Acropolis.
He devoted the rest of his life to promoting this "spiritual adventure", building it up through a major effort of teaching and research, and establishing centres, first in Europe and America, and later, from 1977, in Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania.
He died in Madrid in 1991."

Цю книгу я читаю вдруге і щоразу знаходжу для себе щось нове . Вона легко читається , хоча ідеї , які там описуються , заставили мене задуматись не один раз . Тут автор переносить нас в цікаву і жорстоку середньовічну епоху де панує інквізиція . І розказує про тяжку долю алхіміка , який шукав мудрість. Він мав багато вчителів , серед яких був і відомий філософ Джордано Бруно.
Автор привносить в цей роман багато симовлічності , глибоких думок , розуміння єдності і сили людського духу .Мені книга дуже сподобалася , рекомендую для прочитання)

excelente libro.
Infinitamente mejor que su homonimo de cohelo, este libro esta verdaderamente pensado y dicho sea de paso tambien te invita a hacer lo mismo.
A pesar de tener un lexico poco común no lo utiliza de manera redundante (Un diccionario resulta util) y por lo tanto no es aburrido.
Desafortunadamente lo lei hace tiempo y no lo recuerdo exactamente pues perdi mi copia y es dificl de encontrar.
Pero puedo asegurar que es uno de los libros mas agradables que he leido. Por otro lado siendo atea y este una franca critica a las instituciones religiosas como tales, tal vez no sea recomendado para todo el mundo.

It is about following your dream and goal and achieving it; while doing so the whole universe conspires for its happening. It's special feature is that it talks a lot about the 'Soul of the World' which attracts people towards their goals. I specialy like the View about your destiny can be crafted by your own hands if you paid attention to the signs and go for it, I also love the way "God" is introduced as a force to help you stay focus but not as letting him shaped your life with out you doing nothing. The book has received the Niels Golden book award for its outstanding sales in the retail markets of UK.

Excelente livro que nos chama a atenção para a vergonha da perseguição religiosa apenas por ter opiniões diferentes!!! Altamente crítico da Inquisição, o autor faz sobressair a abertura de espírito, a procura da sabedoria e a filosofia como factores determinantes para o progresso da Humanidade! Excelente menção a Giordano Bruno, grande pensador do Renascimento, que poucas pessoas conhecem… Livro a reler com toda a certeza!

A fantastic novel that makes you go deep into a journey to the 16th Century where the the free will to speak the truth was ultimately payed by one's life. The story takes place during the Inquisition. It speaks of the spiritual journey and the real transformation of a young apprentice to reach the spiritual Light. It also speaks the atrocities that Giordano Bruno had to go through for speaking up for what he believed. It was his philosophic and scientific theories that led to his death at the hands of the Inquisition in Rome. Bruno's death is still considered a landmark in the history of free thought and the emerging sciences.
