PATSY WALKER AKA HELLCAT #5 MARVEL COMICS (W) Kate Leth (A/CA) Brittney Williams Hellcat's out of the bag! I guess she was never in one, but she IS trapped, along with her favorite shieldmaiden, VALKYRIE! Not only that, but she's late for a very important meeting with the infamous HEDY WOLFE. Can Patsy and friends make it out of this one? NO! They all die and the series is over. APRIL FOOLS! ...Or is it?!?! Rated T
Kate Leth is a Canadian author and illustrator working in comics, animation, design, and feelings. A grown-up goth and pop culture devotee, Kate specializes in work for kids and teens. Their comics work includes Patsy Walker, A.K.A. Hellcat!; Girl Over Paris; Spell on Wheels; and Adventure Time, among others.
They live in Halifax, Nova Scotia with an absolutely ridiculous cat and several regrets. They are queer and genderfluid/non-binary, a fact that greatly influences their work. Kate uses they/them pronouns, but probably won’t correct you.
Please note that I gave this 4.5 stars, but rounded it up to 5 stars on Goodreads.
I really wish that I could share some of the pages of the comics in this review. Unfortunately I had to read the thing on my cell phone because it won't load to the Kindle or Kindle cloud reader. I think I mentioned that being an issue for one of the other issues before too.
We have Patsy being held hostage right as she is supposed to be meeting Hedy Wolfe about using her likeness. What is weird is that Hedy seems to be really angry at Patsy for not being there for her mother. Based on what I have read so far, Patsy's mother sucked, so I don't blame her for that one.
We mix in Hellcat, She-Hulk (Jen), Valkyrie, and others as they go up against a sorceress from Asgardia who is out to enslave anyone out there that is a super human.
I loved the team work in this one. And I love how Jen always has Patsy's back.
This comic ends with Patsy at the start of something new and we get to see the introduction to Jessica Jones.
The first big showdown - discount Enchantress and disgruntled and newly-powered teenagers she recruited vs. Hellcat, Val, She-Hulk, Ian, and Tom is there.
Resolution found with minimal fighting - mostly outwitting and convincing. I enjoyed Hellcat's style. And I stan Ian Soo.
I'm also excited to see how Jessica Jones plays into all of this.
Después de un tiempo de parón por biblioteca vuelvo a las grapillas de supers.
Hellcat sigue siendo maravillosa y con ese final tienen toda mi atención. Qué humor a veces tan básico y gracioso y otras tan fino e inteligente. Me encanta. Y los dibujos y el color a tope con este estilo.
I think I'll be dropping this series. I liked the first 3 issues but the last two have been too superhero-y for me and skewed away from the girlie stuff.
