I personally used to love the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise, but now, it's really gotten confusing. You see, this is the third series to come out. The series just got boring and unimaginably random, which caused me to go on a break from the franchise. I loved the original anime as a kid, and I still get that nostalgia feeling when I watch it today (Seasons 1 and 2 of the original are on Netflix), but the new series, meh.

This series is the second spin-off of the original series, Yu-Gi-Oh!. This series revolves around Yusei Fudo, a duel runner from Sattelite City. (Or New Domino City, I can't remember at the moment.) Duel running is the most popular sport of today, and it involves...card games on motorcycles. Yes, card games on motorcycles.

Yusei Fudo, and his friend/rival, Cell, go out in search of other Duel Runners to battle. When they do, they come across Jack Atlas, "The Duel King". What will happen? You have to read to find out.

This is what I'm talking about when I say "random". That's why I only give this 2 stars. It was okay, but I only recommend it to fans of the 5Ds anime, for a little brush of nostalgia.

I actually put this series aside for so long simply because when I first picked it up years ago I was craving what I hoped would essentially be the uncut version of the ygo 5D's anime, but flipping through the manga it was SO drastically different from the anime that I got disappointed.

Yeah, it's different from the anime. IT'S BETTER.

Freaking Aki KICKS ASS and is actually a turbo duelist THANK YOU. Not only that, she's .

And I loved the old school ygo feel of this random ass skeleton monster showing up out of flippin' nowhere for a real-damage duel. No back story. No explanation. None needed. Monster. Shadow duel. YES. Sign me up. Gimme that Season Zero style shit. I will take that all day long.

The only disappointment in this is that they didn't leave Aki's name when they translated this manga. They changed it to Akiza like they did in the dub of the anime. Annoying, but I'm used to it.

The 5D's manga hits the ground running; taking only the briefest of moments to introduce concepts for the series. Much like its fast paced turbo duels. We are introduced to Yusei Fudo and a new manga exclusive character named Sect. The two are engaged in a high speed duel on motorcycles; using new summonings called synchro summoning. When a 'tuner' and non-tuner monster are on the field, they can be used to summon an extra deck monster of equal stars between the two. It is a fun mechanic that breathes life into lower level monsters.

The story is something we are thrown into more than eased; and much like its fast paced unique style of dueling it does not slow down. While a bit jarring at first, you quickly learn the state of the world where the poor live on the island off the coast of the rich New Domino City. This social dynamic is interesting and plays into future subplots. We also meet Jack Atlas and Akiza Izinski in this volume who are from the city. Yusei gets involved in a multichapter duel against the mysterious Skeleton Knight; and afterwards Jack Atlas. Both are fun duels that orient the reader in these new synchro summon focused duels. The ending of the volume sees the introduction of the D1 Grand Prix turbo duel event and Yusei being invited to it. He also meets Akiza and the two have interesting albeit brief discussions about everything.

Overall while 5D's certainly throws the reader into the deep end, by volume's end it pays off and sets the stage for an interesting world and storyline. Well worth reading if you are a Yu-Gi-Oh fan.

This book talks about a turbo duelist named Yusei Fudo. He had a brother named Sect. Yusei's goal was to be the best turbo duelist in the world. Sect's goal was to beat Yusei.

The book starts by Yusei challenging Sect to a turbo duel. They started with 4k life points. The first attack was by Sect and Yusei lost 300 life point. Then Yusei attacked and then Sect lost 800 life points that means his life points was down to 3.2k. Yusei won after that Sect got amazed by Yusei, So he went to the Skeleton knight to get a rair card so next time he battles Yusei he would win, but the Skeleton knight beat him up. Yusei noticed Sect was missing so he knew wear Sect would go. Then Yusei went to the Skeleton knight to find Sect. He found him hanging on a tower but fainted. The Skeleton knight wanted to battle Yusei to get Sect. In the duel Yusei won that means he gets Sect back, on his way to the hospital the king stopped him so. The king forced Yusei to battle him. And then Yusei lost, So his motor bike got destroyed. He went to the hospital. After one day he fixed his bike. Then he went to test his bike. In his way a random guy gave him a card to the big tournament the Grand Prix, After that he battled the queen and he lost. After his exact words was" Ill be wait for you all."

An interesting difference between the 5Ds anime and the manga. As the anime focused heavily on the childhood bond between Yusei and Jack. This one Yusei is largely the same but he does not have any connection with Jack until they meet. Also so far I prefer anime Jack Atlas as he is an arrogant character but he can back it up but he also treasures his bonds with the other Signers. Manga Jack so far just seems to be an arrogant Jack without any redeeming qualities. Also it seems the manga is kind of making its own Fortune Cup arc.

My general understanding is this is a new storyline seperate from the 5D’s animated series.

There’s a lot going on, duels take place on race courses with motorcycles with the exception of a random skeleton duellist who rides a horse(?). There’s a social divide between earth and satellite inhabitants. Battles are won with a strange ESP tool called “sense”. I’m tempted to hang on just to see what happens, and at a scant 10 volumes it is a realistic goals.

Yusei Fudo, Turbo Duelist!! A high-speed Turbo Duel through the streets of Satellite brings Yusei Fudo and his friend Sect face-to-face with an urban legend incarnate! Will Yusei lose Sect to the Skeleton Knight? And what sinister plans does Jack Atlas, master of New Domino City, have in store for Yusei?

[This is a review for the entire series]

While it doesn't have nearly as strong character work or even a good plot, the manga adaptation does have some really fun duels. Even if the winner is always obvious, the magic of seeing people play card games on motorcycles is still an incredible aesthetic. If the story was made up while the duels were going along, I really don't care that much. Stardust Dragon is so cool!

“Let's rev it up!”

Has nothing on YGO GX manga. The duels are too long, story is too boring. Characterisation is weak and the cards effects they use are totally unbelievable in regards to the actual game.

We read this for a book club. I did not enjoy it. The premise is outrageous, but the story is boring.

This had been sitting on my shelf for awhile (right next to V1-V7 of "YGO! Duelist", which I also need to get around to read soon), and when I decided to (start to)read my Edelweiss eARC of V3 of this series on Saturday, I figured "What better time than the present to read V1 of the series, which I already own?". After all, that's a good way to immerse myself in the series and familarize myself with it.
The 5D's series of YGO! is very much an action-packed series. It's a relatively-quick read, once you get into the story, just like Bleach. This series is much like any other YGO! series, in the fact that it is indeed about battling with monsters that you summon from cards in your deck. The main difference is that they do their battles on motorcycle-type duel vehicles.
------------
The main plot of this is that there is an evil guy named Jack Atlas that is feared and revered by all as "The King", since no one seems to be able to beat him. However, both our hero--Yusei--and our heroine--Akiza--seem deadset on doing just that. Both of them have previously battled him and lost, but they are moving towards a new day where they can beat him.
This volume ends with Yusei being asked to join a tournament that showcases "The Best of the Best". He's slight intimidated by the thought that everyone there could (possibly) be stronger than him, but he also sees it as a challenge that could help him beat Jack in the future. Will he enter the tournament?

As usual, the story is completely different to that of the anime. None of the characters know each other who should, and the actually rather plausible and more mature plot that made the anime so awesome seems to be completely ruined.
Instead of the battle between the Signers and Dark signers, we have...apparently some sort of skeleton spirit, and we're back to using 'shadow' things (cards this time around), which makes it seem like it's being made to seem like the first series more. While I love the first series (Duel Monsters) above them all, these kind of things don't really fit in 5D's. The way it's written also seems sort of difficult to read, atleast for me.

Not to mention, which really ruined the realism (as realistic as a post-apocalyptic world that practically runs on card games can get) and maturity which the anime somewhat had, is that in the manga, a monster's attacks actually hurt, thanks to this thing called "sense" which isn't actually explained one bit.

In the near future, a turbo duelist named Yusei Fudo, a young man who duels in the sheet of Satellite with his friends Sect, who seeks to defeat Yusei as his rivel. But around the Satellite people have been hearing roomers of a dark duelist known as the Skeleton Knight. They say if you beat him he'll grant you a rare card, but you lose it's game over for the duelist. Yusei must challenge the Skeleton Knight to save his friend from his grip. But can he defeat this dark knight and get his friend back before time runs out or will both of them lose their chance of ever seeing the light of day again?

I think it was fun because the main character (Yusei Fudo) learns about his friend (Sect) and his Ari deck (Ant deck). When sect wishes for a good card from the skeleton knight (AKA the sunset solute) the knight is unhappy because he has been called by a loser and he didn't want to give him a card for losing, so he knocked sect unconscious and took him to a tall building. After he put him their Yusei challenged him to a duel. If Yusei won he would get sect back if the skeleton knight won he got Yusei's duel runner. Yusei did when and sect got another card to his deck for Yusei winning for sect. In conclusion Yusei didn't only learn about sect he also learned about the skeleton knight.

Ceritanya masih pembukalah. Masih pengenalan karakter, motivasi awal, dsb. Semoga nomor duanya segera terbit.

Btw, ini GX nomor 2 kapan keluarnya ya?

I haven't seen any of the 5D's show, but I did enjoy this book. The art was exciting and kept my interest for a story about a card game. Just because it's played on motorcycles doesn't make it more intereseting! The story follows Yusei whose got a strong "sense" for his cards. He lives in the slums, I believe, with a ragtag group of friends. He's good at dueling. He rides a motorcycle. He's "cool". Satisfied my curiosity about this spin-off of the Yugioh franchise.

I hated this book. It took all of the great characters and plot from the show and changed or dumbed them down so that it could revolve around a self-insert gary-stu who only exists in this manga adaption. I highly recommend the show (In the original japanese) over this thing any day. I can't imagine the follow up volumes are any better.
