This volume moved rather slow. LDB's buddy, Drew takes him on a road trip to see a concert. He tries to avoid contact with Jazmin (ignoring her calls). So she shows up at his doorstep. Not sure what's gonna happen next. Hopefully the pace picks up.
I didn't like this as much as the first volume -- Jazz was a little manic pixie dream girl sometimes, but she really did add energy to the book, whereas this one is basically just LDB sulking b/c he's not dating her & taking a road trip with a male friend & there are fun bits but it doesn't have the same unpredictable energy. Still love the art, though.
Also, suspension of disbelief points b/c I've seen Andrew Jackson Jihad and I was all 'Two state road trip to see them, REALLY?' /out hipsters the hipsters.
The second volume of LDB is far more about exploring what a sad sack LDB is, showing him having one disappointment after another, despite his friend going out of his way to cheer him up. You still root for the little guy, and his friends are great. Once again, I just wish there was more.
