Our Charlotte continues to surprise her men at every turn!
Poor Elizabeth is still being held by the kidnappers when their intended victim was our Charlotte!! Although these women resemble, poor Elizabeth does not have Charlotte's spine and strength, as we witnessed in a past book where Charlotte defended Elizabeth against unwanted attention that ended up getting them arrested and in hot water with their Doms....so goodness knows how she's faring with these hoodlums! But they seem to know where Charlotte lives because they show up late at the house in the mountains, and if not for Michael's strength and always looking to take care of Charlotte, being ahead of the possible problem, they would have ended taken and/or killed....but they get away leaving behind two well battered and crippled assailants. They could have only gotten the information of Charlotte's address from poor Elizabeth. When Charlotte finally realizes this by listening to the men and Will Stanton talk....she realizes the trouble that poor Elizabeth is in.....not only wrongly kidnapped and goodness knows what they are doing with/to her, but the very likely possibility that she will be sold to parties unknown most likely on the other side of the world!
Now Charlotte's brain and intelligence comes into play and kicks in specially after hearing Will Stanton speak of using her as bait to find the hideout where Elizabeth is being held specially since the police and the Commissioner have no clues; they are completely stumped! Richard realizes that he has no recourse of finding Elizabeth. However, James right away screams that no way will he allow that Charlotte be used as bait and Michael yells right along with him, but Charlotte wants to give the plan a try. What a conundrum!
The best part of this rewrite with the men's point of view is that we not just learn what James and Michael are thinking throughout the goings on, but Richard Haswell too. And we also learn a lot more of past history into our Charlotte's upbringing once she was taken from the orphanage runned by Klempner, and she was brought to live at that farm with Mrs. Collier; learning and receiving tutelage from her teacher, Mr. Kalkowski that discovers how truly intelligent our Charlotte is even though they were told by a "Social Worker" that "Jennifer" aka Charlotte was a little retarded.
Our author, Simone, has really poured herself into this book, "Guardians". We are reading and learning so much about our characters, specially Charlotte, and hearing a lot from Richard, too. I can't wait to the next book, "Hunters", even though I have an insight to what will be happening, but to get the additional tidbits that Simone lets us in on about the men and Charlotte's past.
Very interesting reading!! Enjoyable and keeps you at the edge of your seat during it's 100+ pages!! Enjoy people; enjoy!!
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
More of Charlotte's back story from Blessingmoors and her foster family comes to light in the past story telling Simone Leigh does so well. We get to meet the school teacher, Mr. Kalkowski, who has so inspired Charlotte and become her one true friend/family. In the present, Charlotte has identified one of the men watching them on the day they went shopping. It becomes evident the wrong woman was kidnapped. Elizabeth was taken thinking she was Charlotte since the two women look so much alike. Seems all five (Richard, Elizabeth, James, Michael, and Charlotte) are all in this toxic mix together. Simone Leigh has left me following this storyline with my heart raging with adrenaline What a talented author and terrific tale she has wove. I can't imagine anyone not already following this unless you've not yet discovered her abilities.
In the ongoing suspense of Charlotte's story we are also introduced to the best part of her life when a teenager on the farm. It's very heartwarming to find out that she did have a time when her life was very good. However the evil men from her past at Blessingmoors still watch over her - not only in the past but still in the current timeline. But right now her determination to help Elizabeth and pay back her debt to Richard who is in agony, she escapes all of the men determined to keep her "safe". Taking every precaution she can, Charlotte sets out. Ms. Leigh has once again turned her romance/menage series into a suspenseful thriller. I received an ARC.
James,Charlotte & Michael Well these three are in a pickle Mr. Haswell’s wife Elizabeth is still missing and Charlotte is still upset that the guys will not let her help to get her back. But what all the guys even Ross and Staton doesn’t know she is doing her own thing to get closer to Elizabeth to get her home safe. The guys thought the whole book start to understand Charlotte more that she is not as girly and weak as they once thought she was Charlotte is a very strong woman in many ways and the guys are learning this so read the book and find out how the guys get duped by Charlotte to help find Elizabeth. I voluntary read this book and enjoyed it hope you do. C.
I love how all the men knew Charlotte was up to something. Of course reading Buying we know how the story and ploy goes, but to get their POV makes it a lot more fun. The aggression of Jame and Michael compared to Richard makes everything enhanced feeling. By bringing Richard's feeling for Elizabeth back all the time, who is the opposite of Charlotte, helps in throwing off the attention of the reader. But serves to remind us that Charlotte will always do what's right, good or bad for her.
I really enjoyed reading this story. I just couldn’t put it down until the end, it leaves you hanging until the next story. I just can’t wait to read more on the trio. Please don’t make us wait to long.
