The ABC of Scholastic Philosophy

Rate this book
To avoid engendering a beginner with a spirit of skepticism, this volume is not a summary of philosophical problems. For a like reason, Cotter does not give an outline of the history of philosophy arranged by periods. Instead, he confined himself to important data on the principal philosophers of past ages and sketched the intellectual equipment with which the student is supposed to begin philosophy.

Its account of the history of philosophy is detestable, the logic it teaches is barebones and does not properly equip the reader with the tools to move forward in philosophy, and there are superior more detailed Scholastic manuals which make this one hardly worth reading by comparison.
