This book features a unique collection of recipes from the Yucatán region of Mexico, from home kitchens and rural market towns. The author seeks the out-of-the-way eating establishments and gives us an inside look into a variety of kitchens from Mayan families and ladino fisherman to American expatriates.
in between recipes, the author tells stories of moving to mexico from l.a. and of the people she met who cooked for her and gave her recipes. it's interesting, though many of the recipes are either obvious or repetitive if you know anything about latin american and mayan cooking. (but if you don't, i recommend this book).
