I'm new to gaming, but I found this an interesting taste of role-playing fun. Contrary to what another reviewer said, this has NO political content or propaganda at all. (Did they read the same thing I did?) It may not be an incredibly detailed adventure, but why would you expect that from a free sample? We get a brief low-level dungeon-crawler and several character sheets, as well as suggestions to update the classic monster known as the Mimic. I'd assume regular issues give readers more, but players and DMs alike might find something of value here.
A very fun first sampler issue of a new magazine from Lion Forge with resources for new D&D players. This issue has a whole game module, which follows 5th edition rules, and could be playable with a new D&D group in a single session. Plus gorgeous illustrations, a map, and an article on modifying classic monsters with creative add-ons.
I sought this out when I first dabbled in DMing. I'm still really new and while this is geared towards those new to DMing (particularly in D&D 5e), I think picking up a copy of LMoP would be a better first time experience. It was a great freebie at the convention, if you were there.
