<!--[if gte mso 9]> Normal 0 false false false <![endif]--> The Sullivan/Struve/Mazzarella Algebra program is designed to motivate students to “do the math”― at home or in the lab―and supports a variety of learning environments. The text is known for its two-column example format that provides annotations to the left of the algebra. These annotations explain what the authors are about to do in each step (instead of what was just done), just as an instructor would do. <!--[if gte mso 9]> <![endif]--> <!--[if gte mso 10]> <![endif]-->

I've been teaching out of this text for a few years and it is a good intermediate algebra text. The first 6 chapters are an introduction: beginning or elementary algebra. After a thorough review of Chapter 6, which covers key and important factoring techniques, the rest of the book starting with Chapter 7 is goood for a semester-length course in Intermediate Algebra.
