The ultimate fairy tale combo, and Hilary Robinson gets better and better with every tale. Hansel and Gretel run into none other than Hans Christian Andersen's Ugly Duckling, who needs a way home. Hence, in a plot twist you never knew you needed, they leave the Ugly one a trail of bread crumbs. Too bad H and G happen to stumble upon a candy house run by a witch with a hidden agenda to trap our young heroes. This is where FINALLY the Ducky gets REAL UGLY and goes off on a rescue mission to save the siblings, before he becomes (say it!) a.SWAN SONG!!! At last the Ug-Duck is shorn of his self pity feathers and becoming one badass motha Ducker! Hilary continues to be awesome! There's more to come. Fearful, much?

When Hansel and Gretal go out into the woods to collect wood for their father, they get lost in the forest and an evil old lady traps them in her cottage. Luckily, they left a trail of bread crumbs that the Ugly Duckling came across. He is able to find them and save them from the evil old lady. I enjoyed this book that had a fun mix of two fairytales. I would recommend reading this book to kids who are between the ages of 3 to 8 who enjoy fairytales. This book shows diversity because there is a diverse character who comes to the rescue of the two main characters despite him being different from them. Overall, this was a very enjoyable book!

A fun take on the fairy tales. I love at the end when my daughter shouts out the end of the story (she's almost 3). Extra points because it rhymes... :)

This was a fairytale combination book of Hansel and Gretel and the ugly duckling. The illustrations are very detailed and the writing was mostly dialogue description. The audience would be 1st and 2nd graders.
