If you never thought you could read the whole Bible, The Bible Challenge is a wonderful way to embark on a holy pilgrimage joined by others from around the world!
Michael & I have decided to spend this year participating in this challenge. I'm excited at the prospect of finally working my way thru such an important piece of literature, a work that was not a major part of my spiritual upbringing as a Unitarian Universalist. I consider myself very lucky to have this book, as well as Michael's quiet and gentle guidance on this path.
So much for that...shelved, along with the relationship.
The quality of the reflections on the readings varied, but having this really helped to keep me on track. The structure of the readings (several OT verses, one NT verse and one psalm each day) worked for me--it was a reasonable amount of reading each day and I appreciated getting to see how the OT and NT passages spoke to each other. I also appreciated that there was a day off each week, which helped me to feel less overwhelmed during the times I got behind.
The book gave me a structure to have the discipline to actually read the Bible in one year, having begun a year ago today. The devotionals and reflections were a mixed bag in that 104 archbishops, bishops, canons, priests and theologians contributed (usually 3 days per person).
