Ever since he watched his little brother drown last summer, Dylan has felt like he's losing it. He can't shake the nightmares that plague him―dreams from which he wakes up screaming every night. Dylan takes a summer job at a remote wilderness hotel, hoping to leave his problems behind. But when he volunteers to help close up the resort for the winter, things only get worse. Edward, the hotel manager, seems to be out to get him. A freak snowstorm blocks the road to the resort, leaving them trapped for days. And Dylan keeps seeing a ghost that might be trying to send him a message―or maybe Dylan really is going crazy this time.
I live and work in Victoria, British Columbia. I am the child of two anthropologists, which gave me a keen eye for observation and a bad case of wanderlust. My interest in writing for teenagers came out of working at a number of interesting schools around the world. In the Snowy Mountains of Australia, I taught ancient history to future Olympic athletes. Closer to home, my family and I lived and worked with students from over 100 countries at a non-profit international school.
Dylan has nightmares every night due to his brother incident. His brother drowned. Dylan goes to a summer resort to help reduce his nightmares. His boss is an cruel person. Dylan's dreams starts going away. After staying in the summer resort where he volunteered, Dylan gets haunted, he faces terrifying dreams. Read this book to find out what happens next? Does Dylan's dreams go away? My favorite part was when he can feel his brother Sammy, touching him. I thought that part was very creepy.
I recommended this book to people who likes reading mystery books. It's a easy book and it's a slow pace book.
Dylan is working at a summer resort to try to get away from the terrible nightmares he’s been having. When the Resort closes for the winter, Dylan and Josh stay an extra week to help close it up. But their evil manager Edward is making his daytime worse than the nightmares. Now he’s seeing ghosts! Part of the Orca Soundings series, of easy read, high interest titles for High School students, this was gripping from beginning to end. Give this one to your reluctant boys, they won’t put it down. Some teenage drinking, but otherwise appropriate even for Middle School.

Slow story with a big lack of action. I was hoping for something more horrific but it's more of a young teen book that look like horror but that isn't really. Could be interesting for young reader, but I think there is greater book in this style and category than this one. It just lack a bit of everything. Not bad in any way, but not good in any way neither.
Even though this is a short book, it has that nice spooky feel to it. This is another book I selected for our high interest low reading level section of our library. I look forward to reading more in this collection.
Dylan watched his brother drown and even since has been having these terrible dreams over and over, night after night. Throughout the book there is some sense of "what's gunna happen next" but there isn't that much suspense as you'd think would come from a book with the title Night Terrors.
Dylan can’t sleep at night, terrorised by nightmares of his dead brother. He takes a summer job hoping to get away from reminders of the past. Staying in at the end of the season to close up, because it’s easier than going home, Dylan soon feels like he’s losing his mind when strange things start to happen. Is it all in his head or are he and Josh really in danger? Just the right amount of creepy for me in this one!
I decided to read this book because it's theme revolves around mystery and suspense. I had always enjoyed suspense and enjoy a novel at its climax. The plot consists of the main character, Dylan, losing his little brother Sammy in an accident. He goes to work on a winter resort for a hear before going to college to clean his brain off. There he finds out about many things, like his manager, Edward, being disturbingly harsh and serious, the disappearance of an employee and visions Dylan gets of his brother. One day, however, Edward orders for Dylan to stay on the coldest and most dangerous part of winter. Soon he discovers something is not quite right with the resort.
I believe the book was very interesting, but there is not enough tension through the beginning to the middle and the antagonist was really expected. However, the book did have a lot tension at the end and sometimes you really felt like you need to keep on reading.
I recommend this book to any suspense readers, because it's short, interesting and sweet to its theme. The ending was very comforting and it's worth reading. The characters weren't, however, very interesting because you don't know much about them, and e protagonist is nothing special. Still, any suspense lovers should check it out and read it on their free time.
An accessible thriller that feels like some of those creepy movies that played on late-night TV before the advent of cable. Our PTSD-ing main character is closing down a remote resort in the wilderness, trying to forget the death of his young brother. He and a couple of coworkers deal with some odd happenings and an irrational boss. There might be ghosts. There might be murder. The weather goes from bad to worse.
The cover has nothing much to do with the book, and "night-terrors" are only a jumping-off point for "The Shining" - lite plot. Still, it might work well for readers who are beyond elementary "Spooky Stories." The protagonist is 18 and so drinks beer and mentions "weed." Nothing earth shattering or controversial, but worth considering for some collections.
After witnessing his younger brother's death, Dylan has felt like he's losing his mind. He can't sleep without seeing his brother, and can't find the closure he needs. He takes a summer job at a resort deep in the woods to try to escape from anything that will remind him of his brother. It works for a while, but when Dylan volunteers to stay at the camp and help prepare for the upcoming winter, things start to move out of his control. Is he losing his mind or is there really reason for him to be nervous around the resort's manager? Reluctant readers will like the suspense that moves this story forward.
I thought the book was very interesting and very detailed. I liked how all the characters ended up. The book at some points was a cliff hanger and at other parts you could guess what would happen. I didn't really expect something's to be found or even happen but I thought it was a really great book overall. It's one of my favorite books I have ever read.
