When I first saw the book, I wasn't sure it was going to be for me. I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to meet the author and she gave me a synopsis of the book. With her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm I purchased the first two books.
The story begins with best friends and Gregg, boyfriend. They go to a party and Mitch meets Amanda. Amanda's eyes do this strange swirling that Mitch sees.
Amanda discovers she has special abilities and Mitch offers to help teach her how to use them. Mitch who is a demon, can only teach her how to use her dark powers. Later, Gregg reveals what he is and teaches her how to use her light powers.
Ultimately, Mitch has a mission to carry out, "The List," which he is having second thoughts about doing. Then another demon comes along to complete what Mitch can't.
Finally, Amanda finds out that she is the Immortal Sin, but doesn't find out the magnitude of what that really means at first.
This story has lessons throughout. I felt it was a great read for young teens as well as paranormal fans. The author and I are from the same state so I had a special connection to the places that she described.
In closing, there is so much more to reveal about the characters and their journey together, I am betting the Book 2 is a winner.

This book was great! I'm just going to throw in the book's description from the author's website since it's not currently on this page:

This book really got my attention. It was compelling and the ending was amazing. I got to see the author at a book signing she did at a library by my house and she spoke about some of the things behind the novel, so it was especially cool knowing that while I was reading.

For anyone considering reading it, you definitely should!

I received a copy of this story for an honest review for Paranormal Romance and Author's That Rock.

Amanda Chase is the ultimate good girl. She studies hard, stays away from boys, and listens to the rules her grandmother sets for her. When Amanda accidentally bumps into an angry young man at her BFF’s party, her world spins in a different direction. Nightmares begin to haunt her, visions of black eyes and burning light waking her screaming in terror. Amanda fears that she is losing her sanity until she notices her eyes have taken on both a pitch black and pearly white appearance. Something very real is happening and Amanda’s only hope may be to find the angry young man who triggered everything.

Mitch, or Malicious to his fellow demons, is on a mission for Mephistopheles. A demon of the highest order, his role is not to question but to complete the murderous tasks on his assigned List. An accidental meeting with a strange but beautiful girl derails his plans. He knows she’s not human but he can’t place her power. After repeatedly being drawn to her, Mitch is shocked to learn she may be the legendary Immortal Sin, a child conceived from a being of heaven and a being of hell. A forbidden being that may just bring around the end of days.

Mitch must decide if he will remain a servant of the Underworld or give in to his strange new desire to protect Amanda? Amanda must decide her stronger impulse, to embrace Mitch with open arms or make him her enemy?

What I liked: The story itself is well written and interesting. I’m a fan of angel/demon lore and the idea of an angel/demon hybrid being a sin to both realms of heaven and hell, I see some serious story potential. The other major plus is Amanda. She’s smart, take charge, and never whiny. This is the kind of YA heroine I can invest in and revisit.

Issues: The main issue I had with this story is that it felt very familiar. Moody hero with interesting hair who hates the heroine one minute and then needs to keep her close the next? Emotional reveal scene in a rainy forest? Flirty waitress during a restaurant scene where the hero is demonstrating his powers? Hero with super strength and skin that changes color? Two hot guys, one the clear love interest and the other more of a best friend but some romantic potential? I confess I’m a Twilight fan but the similarities kept taking me a little out of the story and comparing the two. I would also love to get a little more insight into Mitch in the subsequent stories.

Overall I enjoyed Immortal Sin and plan on checking out its sequel Immortal Descent.

Favorite Quotes:

“The affect you have on me is of another world, a word of good and light.”

“In his eyes, her beauty surpassed any remark he threw at her and yet, she always seemed to stand her ground against anything negative he had to say.”

Amanda Chaste lives a normal life. She does everything by the book, and makes sure nothing is out of place. She's content with the way her life is going, determined to make the most of things. She has everything she could ever want, and is taken care of by a loving grandmother. Life is good, or so it seems.

Everything changes when she comes across an unexpected boy at a party one night. Her dreams are changing, and she's seeing things she can't explain. Things her mind keeps telling her can't be real. Though she does her best to grasp the meanings behind the strange happenings, Amanda isn't quite sure of what's going. Everything seems so surreal. Surely, there's a plausible explanation for it all?

When Mitch reveals himself to Amanda, and begins to show her what her true world is like, she finds herself struggling to make sense of things. There's no way she can be what he says she is. An Immortal Sin, born of two distinct races . . . The thought itself is ludicrous.

Tormented by what she doesn't know, Amanda is forced to confront the secrets surrounding her past. Delving into the unknown is difficult, most especially when you don't know what's going on around you. It's harder still when warring factions are determined in claiming what isn't theirs. If she's to succeed in learning all she needs to know about herself, she'll need to do so as fast as possible. The question is, how can she do that when she's not exactly sure as to what she should do in the first place?

A lovely start to this series, Julie has taken all things apocalyptic, and given the lore a very unique twist. We've always heard about the Nephilim, beings born from the union of a fallen angel and a human. But what happens when an angel and a demon mate? Immortal Sin answers that question, and gives us a slew of new questions as to how someone born of that union survives the pain and uncertainty surrounding his or her birth. I'm definitely looking forward to what comes next for Amanda and the others.

*I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*

Immortal Sin is the story of Amanda Chaste. Living in New Jersey with her grandmother, Nan, she has never met her father and hasn’t spoken with her mother in two years. Her life is simple, she has her best friend Alexis and Alexis’ boyfriend Gregg. When Alexis has a party while her parents are gone, Amanda comes face to face with her fate and her true identity. Mitch is a demon, sent to finish “The List,” when he collides with Amanda at a high school party he sees something in her eyes that he can’t explain. There is something about her, she is like him but there is something more to her.
When Amanda begins to discover her true identity she finds herself turning to Mitch for answers, the problem is he can only help her with certain aspects of her abilities. I found that the first half of the book was slow, there were more questions than answers. Mitch, even being what he was, didn’t have any answers. It seemed that the whole time Amanda was just practicing her abilities and questioning what she was. There were also times when Amanda’s thoughts or conversations with Mitch became redundant, like her remembering him eating pizza or her trying to understand her feelings for him.
The end of the book did get more interesting. With Gregg and Ravish’s involvement in the story the drama gets a little more intense. There are also a few more questions answered, but I still felt like I wanted more from this story. It didn’t grab me the way I hoped it would, it seemed I was reading the same stuff over and over again. However, I do feel that with the way the book ended it could lead to a very interesting second installment. It seems that Amanda is going to have a big fight on her hands, and that’s what I would hope the second book brings, more suspense, more discoveries and more details.

Great plot - but lacking polished execution!

Immortal Sin chronicles the journey of young Amanda and her discovery of the mysticism around her. Without delving too deep into spoilers, I really enjoyed the IDEA of the characters, the conspiracies, and the culture of the Milillo's world. There's a lot of intrigue and these characters read like simple, fun-loving young adults in a world enveloped in magic and stuff.

However, the ambitious storytelling is not accomplished. Milillo spends far too much time on jumbled prose and exposition that the pace of the story ranges from incredibly slow to jarring halts. Half of the book is spent on characters explaining plots and intentions rather than SHOWING, which insults readers' attention spans and cheapens the mood. There are cool demonstrations of magical power here and there, but their moments are too few and sandwiched between more explaining and more talking. "This is what I am." "This is what you are."

Every chapter.

Put succinctly: Act 1 was slow. Act 2 was confusing. And Act 3 was awesome but took far too long and far too much explaining and verbal trudging to get there. I found myself rolling my eyes far too many times for my liking throughout the first 100 pages.

There is a lot of potential here. The history of Amanda's world seems very rich and deeply involved but we only catch glimpses of it between the fluffy prose. I hope Milillo can step her game up because I did enjoy the character dynamics and if good characters meet strong plot and perhaps a wider cast of other interesting characters, I wouldn't be able to put the book down.

I received this book from the author for my honest review.
This story is about Amanda chaste who lives in New Jersey with her grandmother. You could say her that her grandmother is all she has because she doesn't talk to her mother and has never met her dad. Just like any love story is all starts with a party one without any parents. Amanda meets Mitch which is a demon, Mitch knows there is something wrong with Amanda by the look in her eyes. Then the story really takes off, I won't talk about what happens in the book because I'm afraid if I do then I would reveal a lot and spoil it for anyone who hasn't read it. I thought this book started kind of slow and I was at some point kind of confused at the same point. It was like when Amanda had to a of questions and she turned to Mitch but when he didn't know the answers or when his answers where cryptic I was lost. But when there was finally some action and answers I was so excited I couldn't put the book down. The author did a great job with having an amazing plot but needs to work on keeping the reading involved or hooked you could say.

This was can all around great book. I liked the detail the author gave, and also I thought the characters were awesome. Amanda and Mitch are great primary characters. Their story is a good story to tell. Even the secondary characters; Gregg, nan, and Alexis were stellar. What I didn't like was that it was a cliffhanger and it started out a little slow for me.

Amanda is an ordinary teenager until one party. Her world is rocked. Mitch has a list that he needs to complete, but there is just one name he can't finish. What happens when worlds collide and you can't control it? What can you do when love that is not suppose to connect do? Well let me tell you, its this book.

I don't know what I hate more waiting or the mere anticipation for the next book. I just can't wait. I am so glad I was introduced to this author, and will definetly be reading the next book.

I received a copy from Netgalley.

The blurb for this book sounded right up my alley. A girl discovers hidden powers and secrets and a new world of paranormal beings. Plus romance. Unfortunately I'm sad to say this book simply did nothing for me and by 25% I have had enough. I didn't like the main character. I thought the idea behind the story and some of the world building was quite interesting but the plot failed to grab my attention. There's instalove and I felt a lot of tell and not show. Also too many typos and grammatical errors for my tastes.

So thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to view the title even though this book was not for me.

I was surprised how good I thought this book actually was. I do hope that more people read it! The timeline was pretty good, thank goodness. Bad timelines really bother me- I hate when things seem to happen so quickly and such. Now yes, things escalated quickly but it was written well enough that it worked perfectly. I really wasn't sure how I felt about Mitch in the beginning- but I grew to feel a little better about him. He's not my favorite (I mean he is a demon after all!) but he was a good guy in the end) I really liked Gregg though, and Alexia was a decent best friend. Overall, I think the book was a good young adult novel and am actually a little excited to read the next one!

This is a great young adults book. Julie has a great writing style and a firm grasp on how to describe and express in such a way to really get the reader to see what they are reading. I think these books would translate very well to film. All in all, though it is not entirely the type of book that I prefer, I think it is very well written and a great book for the young adult audience.

Oh my god this book was awesome! It was completely amazing and it only took me a day to read it. I've read boos with angels and demons and stories or similar background but none really compare to this. This book is really original and it was super good! I can't wait for the next one!
