Ode to Lennon
He stands roughly over six feet
lean and packed
with muscles and meat.
He's a doting brother that all the little girls adore,
it's just too bad he's a complete man-wh*re.
He respects women in his own way
protecting them from becoming prey,
from other men who takes just because they can
a knight without a horse who can take it like a man.
He's the kind who loves 'em and leaves 'em -
and who shies away from any types of commitment.
Ah but there's one girl who's got the nerve -
to call him out
and kick him to the curb.
Everyday Lennon tries to solve the puzzle
of a red-head spit-fire who bristles -
with anger and annoyance at his every glance,
and answers back with a glare
at every chance.
Oh Lennon, if you only knew
the feeding frenzy your smile could ensue.
Not to mention that voice that could ensnare
heaven's angels and cherubs up there.
So check it, and listen to my plea
get yo' act together, would you please?
Stop flashing that beguiling smile
leaving girls in your wake by a mile.
Like seriously, dude. If it weren't for your devotion to your sister, I'd say there's not a single redeeming quality about you....well, okay, you're pretty hot - with a smoking body and panty-dropping voice (I don't really know what that means, exactly). You're also a pretty okay guy if we were to strip away your cockiness. You make sure drunk girls get home safely; you beat up abusive step fathers who had no business assaulting their step daughters. You save stray cats and the Humane Society loves you. You take care of a neighbor's little girl who's been through so much chemo and still battling the vicious cycle of a cancer that refuses to go away. You play with their dolls and join them for tea because it makes them happy. You never miss a single recital. You make sure your sister's well-fed, well-dressed and cared for. It doesn't even matter if the only thing you've got going for you is your band that makes peanuts compared to the 80 gs a month allowance from your famous father.
God, who can stand you? You're almost perfect. I myself, is disgusted. I see through you, Lennon. I know your type. You act like you're every girl's dream boat but no one, and I mean, no one can steer you in the open seas. Except maybe that girl with the fiery hair and green eyes who can smell your bullsh*t from a mile away. I think you've met your match. I'm giddy with excitement. So watch me nuke some popcorn, cop a squat and relish that moment when you get owned. Bwahahahhahahaha *chokes on spit, coughs* hahaha!
Note: I was supposed to write a review but I got so caught up with that guy. It's hard not to. Aside from the sleeping around thing, he's Grade A rib-eye steak slathered in awesomesauce.
Anyway, this book was awesome but for the parts that felt choppy to me. Like the part where Lennon pulled a gun on his mom's boy friend. I didn't catch the part where he actually put the gun away before his sister walked in on the whole effed up situation. Then the whole scene jumped to when he decided to take a shower. Also, Jinx's skittishness sort of disappeared in an instant. There wasn't a smooth transition where she's supposed to be testing the waters first - she just dove right in.
Regardless, this novel is unexpectedly fun and sweet with some heavy hitters to balance the happy.

2.5 stars I did enjoy this book even though the ratings is low. I think the writing was good, but the story itself was lacking some major realistic scenes, realistic age behavior, this book was lacking everything from being realistic.
Lennon is a 17 year old man whore he cares dearly for his sister Currie. Jinx has some major issues with herself after being raped. Why doesn't she tell her mother, she comes from a warm nest to say so why the doubt?
Lennon is only 17 and where does he find these hooker girls in high school? I don't think so. Bailey was a nice girl but the 16 year with boob job ( now older)again not really realistic. They way he cares for his sister is heartbreaking.
Lennon and Jinx don't like each other at all. Things escalate at Jinx's party. But things change and they become friends and in time of need Jinx is there for Lennon.
The author is a good writer, I just couldn't believe this story.

Wow! I just gotta write first, that this story is not at all I what I expected, and I liked the unpredictable side of this one. I just found there to be refreshing and creative story lines, characters, and a flow that just kept me reading on to the next page, and honestly, when I read the last page, I wanted more. This is my first time reading a story from this Author, and I look forward to reading more from her, as I feel she has a really good writing style, that kept me hooked, entertained, and even made me relate to some of the feelings and situations that these characters face.
I really liked reading from the POVs of two of the main characters, Lennon and Jinx. Now, when I was reading the beginning of this story, I have to admit, I was wondering, how they would end up together, because, well in Jinx's case, she does not want anything to do with a bad boy, or I think she says this or maybe it was one of her friends, a 'man whore.' Yeah even though these two have sorta known each other since grade school, they don't really talk to each other, but they do share a love of music, and Lennon has true talent, and his father, is one of the greatest musicians, but Lennon doesn't want anything to do with a drug addict, that screwed him over and abandoned him and his sister Currie, and Mom, or I should write, Heather. Lennon doesn't get a long with her either, and I really understood where Lennon came from, from a dysfunctional family, and I could understand why he does not want to renew a parent relationship with either of them; he just wants to keep taking care of his 9 or 10 year old sister, Currie, the only one he really loves, and their sibling bond just made me smile, because you can just tell that they are best friends. Lennon needs Currie, in his life, as she needs him, even though his now sober father, might want to take her away, so she can stay with him and his new girlfriend, at his home in Los Angeles.
Jinx has kept a secret for the past few years, that broke up she and her boyfriend Zach. Even though they are seniors in high school, she has not been able to find someone to really develop a relationship with, as she still loves Zach, but after they broke up, he entered a new relationship pretty fast, and that tugs at Jinx's heart. She lost her father years back to cancer, and now, when her mother is away at work, she is stuck with her Step-Monster, oh I mean, Step-Father. Yeah, you'll read that name quite a bit because that's how she refers to him. She doesn't like him at all, no, she hates him, and you will definitely hate him too, like me, as the story goes along, and you'll know what Jinx has been keeping to herself, since before she turned 16.
So you will read that both Lennon and Jinx have their own set of issues, but you'll see how they overcome some of them, even together, because they are band mates in his band, and you'll read about how that happens, because Jinx can sing and play an instrument, something I didn't mention earlier. I like how there are realistic situations here, because it made me connect and understand the characters so much better, and there are some funny and good feeling scenes, some that are frustrating and there's a sad scene, that seriously made me shed a few tears, and it has to do with a character I have not mentioned at all, but boy what happens to that character just touched me. There's something that occurs towards the end, that does not have to do with a heartbreak of love, I'll say just that; it's a different kind of heartbreak, and I don't cry when reading, but what happens here just made me more sympathetic, and how this story is presented, written, shows how this story is really well written.
Now, I gotta write, that this novel was different than what I suppose I expected. I mentioned this in the beginning of my Review. I found this to be a story of growth in character, from both Lennon and Jinx. There's definitely a romantic interest, but I like how this story deals with realistic situations and character development, instead of love, so that's something I liked about this novel. This is book 1, and I believe there are going to be two more, so I really really look forward to the next two books, to read where the Author will take this story, where she will take these characters. This is a novel I recommend!

I say a Strong PG-13 Rating (Some Mature Language & Sexual Situations)

This book is similar to many other type of books that surfaces these days but I simply don't get tired of it and I still loved it.
Lennon and Jinx are two people who are most likely to like each other because they’re both the end of things. Lennon is the bad-boy rocker persona who has girls whirling around him and is surely not used to their rejection while Jinx is the weird, shy and timid girl. But they both have one thing in common: the baggage they carry. They both have those baggages that are too heavy to carry and they’re both forced to grow up too fast what with everything that is going through on their lives. And as much as they don’t want like each other sometimes you just can’t help who you fall for.
John Lennon Tyler (his name is already screaming rock star!) is not only a prince to her little sister Currie and her friend Zoe's eyes but in my eyes he's also a prince - a prince that seems to be at lost. At such a young age he has taken the responsibility to take care of his younger sister and my heart melted for that. He is a whole new different person when he’s with Currie and Zoe and I really do admire him for his extreme care and love for both of those little girls.
Zoe's story intrigued me. There are subtle hints scattered around the book as to what her secret is and I have a few guesses and some of them are literally right. Like Lennon, in such a young age she's been through a lot especially the misery and guilt that's been eating her up. She’s been in a very traumatic event that she couldn't let anyone know and that’s eating her up. In a way, I feel bad about what really happened to her its not right for her to go through such tragic stuff and have no one to lean on even her very own mother.
Zoe and Currie are two cute little girls that I want to cuddle. These two little girls have everyone on the story wrapped up around their little fingers – even I myself was wrapped up around them. In a very young age, they already acted and think like an adult. My heart melted and break for them.
Lennon and Jinx story was a process. It didn't happen instantly, it grows and grows and it’s really nice to sit back and read it all play out. There are rough sides, but all stories had those right? Reading it was so easy because the characters are easy to get into - they easily get you n the zone. The author wrote the story in a way that it really is easy to read.
From the drama, music and the twists, I liked it. The story was messy and complicated and though I hate the complicated and messy parts I'm still looking forward for the continuance of their story.

Can I just say that Chris Myers is an incredible author. She knows how to grab you right from the beginning and keep you reading along until you get to the end and leaves you wanting more and more. I could not put this book down because first I love a bad boy rocker and I love books with music in it. I love music and it is a very big part of my life so when I read stories like this one I am so captivated I can't put it down! This story had so many facets to it that it was never dull or boring but what you read about broke my heart a little because no one should feel unloved by their parents and no parent should allow another sibling to raise their children. That had me pissed but it made the main character stronger and I just love Lennon he is total awesomesauce!
Lennon is in his senior year of high school living his life. He goes through girls like he chews gum. Never having a relationship with them but just having fun. He is in a band and he has lots of groupies. They know where they stand and that is okay with them and Lennon. He does not want a relationship because he has a lot on his plate with school and the band and with raising his little sister. He is rich and his parents are off doing whatever they want so Lennon is left to raise his sister. He takes that very serious and no one or nothing is going to come between them.
Then Lennon starts to notice Jinx but Jinx hates Lennon because he is arrogant and self absorbed or so she thinks. The more Lennon sees Jinx and spends time with her the more he falls for her. The heart knows what it wants but these feelings are new for Lennon and he is scared because the only person he loves is his sister. But as Jinx lets her guard down she realizes that there is more to Lennon and she realizes she is falling for him to.
Jinx has her secrets that she keeps guarded very well and she is not sure she can ever be in a relationship with Lennon but dammit if her heart will recognize it. Will Jinx let Lennon in? Will Lennon let Jinx in? This book had me feeling all kinds of things and I need book two like yesterday so I can see what is going to happen with these two. I loved how there was no insta love but the two of them have to work at this and work through their secrets and hurts. Lennon will never let anyone come between him and his sister so where does that leave Jinx?

I truly loved this book it is so much more than a love story, it a gripping heart wrenching story of life, of how two people form a friendship and find a strength in each other.
I thought from the blurb that this book was just a story about a bad boy musician with a bit of romance thrown in for good measure, but this book is just so much more, the connection that Lennon has with Currie and Zoe is so beautiful.
To read about how he has taken care of his sister from being the age of eight is very emotional to read the things that have happened to Lennon and Currie in there family life is tragic, but Lennon does his up most to shield Currie and make her life so much better than he had.
Lennon is such a remarkable character he is like a onion he has so many different layers, hes known at school a the big man whore but then he takes Zoe and Currie to the American girl to have lunch, hes slept with models and actresses but he goes home every night to his little sister so she is not alone with there mother.
Lennon could have been a total douche with the parents he has, he could have been into drugs and alsorts but with the help of Zoe’s mom he has grown up before his time learned to be a parent to his sister Currie.
Jinx is a great character also i loved how she and Lennon slowly built there friendship. Jinx is such a normal girl who likes to have a good time, shes had a bad event in her past that makes her wary of guys, but the way Lennon approches her and shields her from situations really builds the trust needed for them to move onto the next stage of there friendship.
Currie is a hoot she is such a bossy grown up in a child’s body i loved her so much, and her views on diet had me laughing out loud.
The rest of the guys in the band are wonderful they also have such a great relationship with Zoe and Currie and treat them like little sisters.
All the guys in this book treat the women characters with great respect which is so refreshing to read about in a book.
This story has a wonderful depth and had me in tears more than once.
Can you tell that i loved, loved, loved this book! I cannot wait to read more from these characters, i just hope Lennon and Jinx get some sort of happy out of life in the next book. I could not put this book down and i am a big fan of Chris Myers and will be looking for more writings from her.

The rest of the guys in the band are wonderful they also have such a great relationship with Zoe and Currie and treat them like little sisters.
All the guys in this book treat the women characters with great respect which is so refreshing to read about in a book.
This story has a wonderful depth and had me in tears more than once.
Can you tell that i loved, loved, loved this book! I cannot wait to read more from these characters, i just hope Lennon and Jinx get some sort of happy out of life in the next book. I could not put this book down and i am a big fan of Chris Myers and will be looking for more writings from her.

2.5 what just happened stars
I wanted to like this book so badly, I really tried but once I reached the halfway mark I struggled to go on. I finished I wondering what the point of the story was. From the blurb I thought it was two broken people who found solace in each other but I honestly didn't find their relationship believable at all. There was no beautiful moment where I fell in love with them as a couple, it seemed to me like a one sided relationship with Jinx not wanting Lennon at all for the majority of the book.
What I also struggled with was the plot. You kind of new what was going on with the heroin throughout the book but the big reveal was completely overshadowed by Currie. I understand her point in the story but the heroine ended up taking a back seat to her which didn't make sense to me.
There were some difficult topics in this book and from the other reviews I read others found them to be handled sensitively. I honestly think this book trivialised some major issues and made them seem like they weren't a big deal. When Jinx' past was revealed the seriousness of what happened was downplayed by Lennon and Currie saying they've seen worse before and after she opened up.
I really just didn't get it, it was like plot within plot within plot within plot and it didn't work for me at all.

Sometimes a book comes around and you get the pleasure of reading it and it completely touches you in every way. This was that kind of book. It was emotional, serious, fun and an all around must read for any person who enjoys reading young adult books or just any book in general, that's how good it was, I would recommend this to anyone and everyone. The characters were wonderful and addicting and the story line was amazing and throw in some music and it was just perfect.
We meet Lennon and Jinx right away. Each one are very different from the other but still they have so much in common, they just don't know it yet. Jinx catches Lennon in a compromising position and kicks him out of her party. This is where the fun begins. Lennon is a well known player and Jinx is anti men, at least that's what everyone thinks since she broke up with her ex. Their relationship has never been a good one, mainly nonexistent. That is until Jinx walks in to audition for Lennon's band and becomes his new keyboardist.
With this new close proximity to each other they are now bound to get into each other's business. They both have family issues and are trying to get passed them but throughout this Jinx learns that Lennon isn't the man whore she thought he was, he still is but he is also a very caring person and this touches her more than anything. He later finds out the truth about what happened to Jinx as well and learns that he needs to be careful with her and make sure she feels comfortable throughout their growing relationship whether it's a friendship or more.
There are also Currie, Lennon's sister and her best friend Zoe. Lennon has taken care of Currie her whole life and would do anything for these two girls. Their relationships are absolutely adorable in every way possible. They represent what a family should be to one another, it was simply beautiful Because of these two beautiful girls everyone rallies together to be there for them and the entire story line between all the characters is very moving.
My hear breaks and smiles throughout this book and it makes you think some things in life are just really unfair and shouldn't happen to the most innocent of people. But then there are other parts where there is so much resentment and hate that it makes you realize there are people out there that don't deserve a second or even a first chance. This book really had it all. The good the bad and the ugly. It is a must read, because it has all the elements of a book that will make you feel and remember for a long time. I know that I will remember this book.
The cover was great, really reminds me of how Jinx is described in the book and she completely looks like a rock star. The major bonus in this book was that there were songs written by both Lennon and Jinx, which brings in their prospectives even further. I love books that involve music together. I really do think that music can bring out so many emotions in you and bring back many memories. The author also has a great writing style when it goes from one character to the next so you get both point of views. This is something I always find entertaining to see a male and female point of view of the same situation. Great characters, great story, great music, great writing and overall greatness.

4-1/2 Stars. After reading Lennon’s Hope, I went back to start with the first book in the series, and I’m so glad I did. I loved getting to know the characters better and understand them more through the book that introduced them. Lennon tries to be this womanizing, bad-boy rocker type, but it quickly becomes clear he’s deeply wounded and uses sex as diversion from his life. His parents are absent at best, completely apathetic at other times. And he never lies to girls. They all know what they're getting, and more importantly what they're not getting -- a relationship. It’s hard not to feel for the broken boy beneath the image.
The one girl Lennon will do anything for is his nine-year-old sister, Currie, and she is his saving grace. He sacrifice his own needs, putting her first. Always. Even when that means giving up coffee, meat, and even sex when Currie demands it. She keeps him human and relatable.
Jinx is equally damaged, but for other reasons. The two of them seem to find a kinship in each other. Whether or not it turns into something more is what the story is about.

This is a solid plot for a new adult romance. It’s really upper young adult as the characters are still in high school, but because of the subject matter and language, it probably better fits into the NA category.
First, there’s Lennon’s character development as he goes from bad boy to someone Jinx might be interested in. Then there’s Jinx dealing with her stepfather/ rapist, Currie’s best friend and next door neighbor, Zoe, who is suffering from cancer, Lennon’s band and their future, and his relationship with his deadbeat parents. It’s a lot, and yet Chris Myers manages to weave it all together flawlessly so that never feels too busy or becomes overwhelming. Several interesting twists and turns kept me on my toes.

The characters are the best part of this book. They are complex individuals with a lot of issues to deal with. Lennon is extremely authentic and I feel like I really get him. He’s hard not to like, despite all of his many flaws.
Jinx took me longer to connect with. She’s standoffish by nature and her personal demons don’t make her any more warm and fuzzy. But as she grows to appreciate Lennon for who he is, some of her walls start to crumble a little and she becomes more likeable.
The supporting cast, particularly Currie, Zoe, and Lennon’s band mates, are all very well-rounded characters that are deeply developed and compliment the plot and Jinx’s and Lennon’s development. The dialogue is crisp and true to older teens.
Bottom Line
Lennon's Jinx is a compelling story that goes beyond the typical young adult or even new adult romance. The writing is crisp and the angst is palpable. Because of the subject matter and language, I wouldn't recommend it for teen readers under 16.

It would be impossible not to fall in love with Lennon. He is the total package. Good looking beyond belief. Talent that amazes all and by choice he does not ride the coattails of his famous father. He loves the girls who swoon over him and prefers not to attach himself for longer than a few hours. He is as sweet as the day is long. He is a friend who cherishes those close to him. Raising his young sister he is sweet and loving giving to her every ounce of his being. He is also broken. A young adult with secrets he has never shared and doubts those secrets will ever be revealed.
Jinx is a girl who knows what she needs to do to escape the fear she lives in. No one knows the real story about her fear. This is a secret she can’t share with anyone. The Jinx people see and think they know is not the real Jinx. The real Jinx is scared, confused and blames herself for what happened. She lives in fear but hides it from the world.
Sit back relax and immerse yourself into this beautifully written story Lennon and Jinx. This story is told with such raw and real emotion you can’t help but get swept away in the written words.
Each character mentioned lends such importance to the storyline and the author does such a great job making them seem three dimensional.

I wasn't sure what to think when I first started Lennon's Jinx by Chris Myers. I couldn't figure out if the author was having issues getting her thoughts out or if it was written that way on purpose. Then it occurred to me. I was reading about a high school boy and a high school girl. These thoughts and dialogue were spot on. Disjointed, hidden meanings, innuendo, nothing was cut and dry. So typical of teenagers. I should know I live with two of them!
Lennon is the son of a famous washed up actress and an even more famous drugged out alcoholic rocker star father. He lives with his baby sister Currie and his non-existent mother. He struggles to maintain a "normal" life for Currie while also trying to be a 17 year old boy that's trying to graduate high school. He's had an extremely difficult childhood. At least prior to Currie. He lives on a hefty amount of money his father has given him and Currie. He owns the cars, the houses, pretty much everything. He allows his mom, whom he calls Heather, to live with them. Even that situation is tumultuous and very sad.
Lennon is content with sleeping around. He knows he has a reputation. I won't say he's proud of it but he does own it. When you learn his story you'll understand why is this way. He refuses to become attached to any one. Except Currie. She's his life and I was quite taken with their relationship.
Jinx is a straight A student. She can't stand Lennon. She believes every rumor she's ever heard about him, some true, some not. She doesn't care. She's decided he's bad news and no one can sway her decision. Jinx has demons of her own. Ones that no one knows about. Until she joins Lennon's band. As they get closer her life begins to unravel. It just happens that Lennon is there when it does.
Eventually, these two sort of get together. I really didn't think story was about them hooking up as it was about Jinx realizing that Lennon wasn't this awful, terrible person she'd painted him out to be. It was also about Jinx coming to terms with her own life. It's about family and friends. It's about knowing who loves and supports you and who doesn't.
This story is not without flaws however, I overlooked them in pursuit of the story. I found myself gobbling the pages up. I needed to be inside Lennon's head almost as much as I wanted inside Jinx's. The author does a great job of switching between the two. This is definitely a gritty story and I found myself in tears. I was actually surprised too. I mean I just didn't see it coming like that.
I couldn't wait to get my hands on book 2, Lennon's Rain.

I love Lennon.
I have meet so many great male characters over the course of reading but I have to say, so far this year, maybe even all the years I have been reading, he is a favorite character to date. So real. So loveable and so so good.
Wow, this story took me by surprise. I didn't know how invested I would become with Lennon and Jinx, but especially Lennon. I just felt for him. I wanted to wrap him up and give him a great big hug and tell him how wonderful he was. How great he is and how much he deserves to be loved and cherished.
I felt for Jinx too, she didn't have it easy either and she deserved a great big hug of her own but for whatever reason Lennon just stole my heart.
Really all the characters in this are just fabulous. Currie in all her lovely bossiness, Susan, Bailey, Danny Boy, the Nowaks (especially Zoe), Clive, Rena, the twins, all of them are outstanding secondary characters. I don't think I could pick a favorite, even if I had too.
This story touched me so much. I truly cared about each character and not just cared about them but fell in love with them as well.
I didn't expect to get so emotional while reading this but it was hard not too. So much happens. So many broken people that needed to be fixed, that needed to be loved. So many good people too, there to pick up the broken piece when they were broken themselves.
I have said this in the past but it bears saying again, I love a good story about two very broken people coming together to make a whole. There is just something so real and honest about it. Something so true and heart warming.
I am so excited there will be two more books following Lennon and Jinx because I really wasn't ready for their stories to be over, I don't think after everything they have gone through, anybody would be ready for it to be over.
This was so well done. This is the second book by Myer's I have read and loved. I will pick up anything she writes in the future and read it. She is truly a talented writer that knows how to get under your skin and leave a mark that won't soon be forgotten.

Bad-boy Lennon has quite the reputation at his high school. He is rich and handsome, has rock-star famous (but inattentive) parents, and never gets serious with any one girl. Beyond his self-serving and narcissistic ways, only his little sister Currie gives him any sense of purpose. Early in the book, Lennon goes to a (no adults around) party hosted by a classmate, Jinx. It is here that he realizes how much Jinx dislikes him. Lennon is really confused with why anyone would go to the trouble of disliking him.
Dark challenges within Jinx’s personal life are exacerbated by Lennon’s selfish behavior and tend to bring out her worst side when he’s around. As we get to know the characters, we begin to realize that both of them are vulnerable, neglected and frightened teens. They come to discover these similar frailties and support each other through some very difficult events, (which I don’t want to ruin the book by sharing.) Through these events, Lennon and Jinx slowly learn the value of relationships as they build mutual trust and respect for each other. Jinx and Lennon hold on to each other in their most difficult times.
A couple of favorite parts: first, when Jinx auditions for keyboard with a rock band and finds out that Lennon is in the band; and second, is when Lennon takes little sister Currie and her best friend on a shopping spree to the American Girl Doll store in Chicago, dragging along a reluctant Jinx. (I love that store.)
My least favorite parts are when, oh so young, Currie is exposed to some ugly adult situations with druggie mom. On the plus side, these situations are where Jinx uncovers Lennon’s capacity to love and care about someone besides himself. The depth of Lennon’s commitment to raising and caring for his little sister is very endearing.
This is a wonderful story of young love but it also captures the painful incongruities of real emotions that children, young adults and parents experience. Having fallen for Lennon myself, I can’t wait for the next book in this trilogy.

I read this author's Date with the Dead and thoroughly enjoyed it. This book is completely different. Lennon's Jinx is packed with raw emotion. I found myself laughing then frantically racing to the end to find out what was going to happen. Then I balled my eyes out and grinned at the realistic yet very satisfying ending. This book definitely does not fall into the same old romance pitfalls. It's fresh and has some great plot twists that kept me reading. It'll be interesting to see what the next two books of the trilogy bring.
Lennon's Jinx is about a teenaged boy in his senior year of high school. He tries to ignore his feelings for Jinx, a smart girl who has issues of her own, because he doesn't want a steady girlfriend. When Jinx joins his band, Lennon can no longer ignore her and finds himself trying to figure out why she's afraid of him while breaking his own rule of not getting involved with girls who are looking for a long term relationship. The best part about Lennon is he sounds like a guy, a little crude sometimes but has a big heart. So often female authors dance around how guys really think. Teenaged boys think about sex a lot.
This book is definitely edgier than Date with the Dead and has a some profanity but not much. Just enough to make the characters feel real and give them a realistic voice.
One of my favorite characters is Currie, a precocious 9 yr old, who is Lennon's sister. My favorite line of hers is "You are such a pawn in our game."
This author knows how to write snappy dialogue and internals that sometimes leave you breathless, laughing, or grabbing a tissue.

Once again I was undecided on what book to read next so I Random Number Generator'd it and got #69--which may turn out ironic with this book.

I think this will have to be a 2.5 rating.
The beginning took me a while to get into, the style seemed to be all over the place during the party and I had no idea what the hell was going on. It seemed to me like we were just dropped right in the middle of it all.
Then by about the 10-15% mark, I'd been dragged into it, the story had settled in a bit by then and I was getting used to the style but I still didn't quite understand Lennon (poor bugger name wise, both him and his little sister Currie). Why was he the way he was?
The really low simmer thing he had going with Jinx sorta kept me reading but I didn't really feel it until about the 80% mark.
There were some really dark/sad elements to this story, and in a way it depressed me. The last 10% had me in floods of tears. I don't mind crying but it's generally due to my emotional attachment to a couple and them splitting up for whatever reason before working it out and getting back together.
I've looked at the rest of the trilogy and after getting invested in Lennon and Jinx's story, I'm not sure I want to read them.

Chris Myers delivers another great YA read. Like Date with the Dead, Lennon's Jinx is brimming with well developed characters to root for. Lennon is a charming "bad boy" rocker on the outside, while on the inside we find a responsible, caring but wounded young man who's trying to keep his father from hurting his sister Currie the way he hurt him. Currie is a precocious little girl you can't help but love -- one of my favorite characters. Jinx is a straight-A student and choir girl with a voice like an angel who wants to sing in a rock band. She's been wounded by someone in her past like Lennon, and is carrying a secret that's threatening to tear her apart from the inside. The teenage rock band scene provides a captivating backdrop to the story. The plot is a fun ride with plenty of tension and suspense, but the real story is what's going on inside Lennon and Jinx's heads and hearts. These characters' arcs keep you turning the page, and kept me thinking about them long after I'd finished reading. I can't wait to find out what happens to them in the next book -- I'm dying to know who the other "Lennon's Girls" are, and what that will mean for Jinx.

If you met Lennon you would immediately believe he is the bad boy rocker persona he let's you see. Underneath the image, he is a loyal brother whose focus is protecting his sister. Meet Jinx whose exterior is that of a well put together student whose grades reflect exactly that. Jinx has been wounded before and the target of her pain was another rocker, just like Lennon, but that is not the only secret she carries. Lennon sees Jinx at a party and is instantly taken aback by her snarky attitude when it comes to him, even when she is spouting her mouth at him he actually is wounded by what she says. Why would someone he doesn't know dislike him so much?
Fantastic story, I am a sucker for rock stars even those of the teenage kind. I thought this was a perfect backdrop for two very intricate characters who both carry their own baggage. This is quite unlike any YA book I have read and I loved every minute of it. This is the first book I have read by Chris Myers, I definitely plan to read more.

This book is amazing! I love Lennon and Jinx, and I'm so excited to read the next book, Lennon's Rain. ~My status update right after finishing this book back in October
Lennon and Jinx are two characters I loved getting to know. The story alternates between both of their points-of-view. There's much more to them than I first saw, and each layer is carefully peeled back to reveal the many layers of their personalities. Plus I loved that Lennon, this guy with a bad boy rep who takes care of his little sister, falls for the good girl Jinx. And I loved it even more when Jinx finds out Lennon's reputation doesn't touch the surface of who he really is.
From first glance Lennon seems to be superficial and only care about himself, but then you look deeper and find out his number one concern is taking care of his younger sister, Currie, and making sure she doesn't have the kind of childhood he did. Their dad, Jonathan, is a rock star while their mom, Heather, is a former actress. Both chose a lifestyle with drugs, sex, and partying over taking care of their children.
Lennon was eight when Currie was born, and from that point, he took on the responsibility of caring for her and sheltering her from their mother's behavior. Their parents split, and Heather is completely self-absorbed, having random guys over though she's under the mistaken assumption she and Jonathan will reconcile.
However, Jonathan is involved with his former therapist, Denage, and shows no interest in getting back with Heather. With parents like them, it's amazing Lennon takes such good care of Currie - he never had good role models but knows more about what a child needs than both of them put together.
Jinx, a fiery redhead honor student with a ton of musical talent, appears to have it all together on the outside but in actuality is falling apart on the inside. Her mother is gone all the time as a traveling pharmaceutical rep, her stepfather is a an abusive monster, and she can't get her mother to believe her over her stepfather. I've never understood women who believe men over their children, especially since it's so obvious to me that he goes out of his way to try to find dirt on Jinx to get her in trouble.
Lennon's little sister, Currie, is a miniature adult at the age of ten. She makes sure Lennon takes care of himself, gives him advice about girls (much to my amusement!), and is a little firecracker bundled in cuteness. She's grown up with the little girl next door, Zoe, who has recently found out her cancer has come back in full force. The strength Currie possesses in being there for Zoe is amazing after everything she's endured with her parents lacking the ability to be parents. If it weren't for Lennon, I don't think she'd be so well adjusted.
I was sad for Jinx and the pain she lives with. I rooted for her to find a way to live a better life, a life where she could be happy and peaceful. It was realistic and understandable that she had trust issues with Lennon. When she joined his band, they ended up making a great team together. She decided to take a chance and be there for him when he goes through one of the hardest weeks of his life, and I loved them together. Their relationship developed slowly but surely, and I'm excited to see where it will go in the next book, Lennon's Rain.

Lennon’s Jinx (Lennon’s Girl trilogy book 1)

This book is the beginning of a Trilogy following the Main character, Lennon on his journey of self-discovery, growing up, and finding love.
Lennon is not a perfect main character he is annoying, bossy, cocky as hell. But he is described as as having a hot body gorgeous face with a sexy panty dropping voice. He gets ALL the ladies and doesn’t commit to anyone and everyone knows that.
The story is told from two points of view, Lennon of course, and Jinx is the other P.O.V. that we follow in this first book, she is timid and scared of men, (for good reasons) She dresses sexy and it’s in an obvious way with short skirts and tight shirts. She has this fiery red hair that is hard to miss.
The Lennon and Jinx hate each other, and we learn that right away in a hilarious scene at a party where someone gets a drink thrown on them. So needless to say they have a long road ahead of them, but we learn Lennon is becoming infatuated with Jinx and why she hates him so much. He can’t stop thinking about her, why is SHE the only girl his charms don’t work on? Why does she blanch and pull away anytime someone tries to touch her.
Jinx can’t understand why all the ladies love Lennon he’s annoying, sexy yes, but a pig, and disgusting with his parade of sleazy women. Why would anyone want to open their heart, let alone legs to a sleazy guy like him?
The book follows these two on the unlikely path of love. It unravels a back story to a world where they are both so broken and looking for someone to love them.
I really liked the way Jinx’s story was told, even though it was pretty obvious to me what happened to her in her life. The way she was written was believable to me. I don’t want to say too much to give away spoilers, but I will just say I enjoyed reading her, even though at times she was frustrating, and a hypocrite, she to me was the most believable character in this story.
Lennon’s story was one that really got to me, following him though this roller coast was rough, the things he dealt with his whole life was heart wrenching. And the ending of his story left me in tears.
What I didn’t like, was at times the story was very predictable. Even though there was one thing that I didn’t see coming towards the end. Other than that it was just a straight out romance, of two broken teens, finding comfort in each other. Also, I liked that while this book is largely about romance there is underlying stories about friendship, and family that are really great, and sometimes those are the best parts of this book. I really enjoyed the "side" characters that are developed in this book, and I hope that continues as well in the next two installments.
I recommend this book for New Adult romance/contemporary audiences, there wasn’t any super graphic scenes, but they were eluded too, and I don’t think anyone under 17 should be reading this book as it does deal with some mature themes.Its labeled as YA, but It doesn't feel like YA it really feels more like a NA book.

5 Amazing Stars!!!
What a beautiful story. Please be warned you will need tissues handy when you read this book. One of the best books I have read. WOW is putting it so lightly.
John “Lennon” Tyler is one of my favorite book boyfriends of ALL time! Currie and Zoe will make you laugh and the three of them together will make your heart feel warmth it has never felt.
I don’t normally read too much young adult but this book is quite the exception. It is the first book in a series that progresses through Lennon’s love life from a young age. This book is about Lennon’s teenage years until he is about ready to graduate from high school. Lennon is a playboy and very rich thanks to his dad being a mega rock star. His parents are dead beat parents and have put Lennon through an ordeal that made the hair on the back of my neck stay straight up the entire book. Jinx and Lennon have known each other for many years. Jinx can’t stand Lennon and his playboy ways. Lennon does not understand why Jinx feels this way about him but he want to change for her for some reason.
Lennon is raising his 10 year-old sister and has been doing it since her birth. He has adult responsibilities and has never been able to be a kid. God, I felt so sorry for Lennon but he loved taking care of his sister. Jinx comes into his life in a whirlwind and they become very close. Jinx is damaged goods and cannot trust at all especially men. Lennon opens up to Jinx and Jinx has no choice but to open up to him. Will they make it through all the hard times? Read it to find out.
What I really loved most about this book was the relationship between Lennon, Currie and Zoe. Currie and Zoe are best friends. Lennon refers to the girls as “my girls”. The band loves the two girls as well. You just fall in love with this dynamic. Lennon, his band mates, Clive and Danny all just melt your heart with their sweetness. I actually loved this part of the story more than I loved the love story.
Tragedy strikes in more way than one in this book. Emotional roller coaster does not even come close to what this book takes you on. It is the mother of all emotional roller coaster rides. You will laugh one minute. You will have your heart ripped out of your chest and stomped on, twisted and plummeted back into your chest. You will swoon so hard you can’t get back up. You will heal with the characters. But most of all you will love each and every part of this book.
I will never hear the song Tiny Dancer again and not think of Lennon, Clive, Currie and Zoe. My favorite part in the book was when Lennon kissed the teenage girl at the hospital. Oh. My. God. SWOON!!! He is such a prince.
I will not be forgetting about any character in this book for a long time. I am looking forward to the next installment in the trilogy.

I'm actually more of a new reader to the New Adult genre, but lately I've been reading a lot of NA Contemporary. In terms of LENNON'S JINX though, I have to say except for a few tweaks here and there, it's not the MOST original. Nevertheless, it did have some entertainment value as well as a lot of heartbreak too. My review is organized into sections, and whether or not you might enjoy the plot, characters, or the book in general really depends on what type of reader you. However, most NA Contemporary readers will probably enjoy this book!
Characters:
Despite the classic "bad boy" persona, I ended up really liking Lennon. As you can probably tell, of course there's a softer side to him, but I was amazed at his kindness and dedication to Currie and to her best friend, Zoe. Throughout the book, I was softened by his prince-like manner! So I suppose if you're the bad-boy loving type of reader, you'll love Lennon!
Jinx, on the other hand, had annoyed me throughout a lot of the book. For one, you're told she's a "good girl", but honestly I didn't see that personality reflected in her behavior except that she was known as a virgin (she drinks, goes to clubs, has parties, etc. - I guess I'm more familiar with a different type of "good girl"?). Another personal irk was that she didn't want to admit she liked Lennon when she clearly did, which is something that I'm really getting tired of. By the end of the book, she does become a better character, but overall I think my enjoyment was probably brought down by her voice :/

For the sake of this review, the plot will be split into the general storyline and the romance (which I'll talk about in the next section). In general though, storyline was gritty and was able to brought out the more raw, emotional, but . When one of the most precious characters die, it really broke my heart, too 3
Romance:
Personally, I'm not the type of person that NEEDS to have romance in every book, but when I was reading I found that I was more focused on the characters' individual storylines. It was kind of like my experience with PUSHING THE LIMITS - I didn't feel like the romance was absolutely necessary to the plot, but by the end, it added something to the book, even if it was a bit cliche.
Overall:
I did end up liking the book (there is a twist and heartbreaking loss in the end 3), even though Jinx's voice bothered me in the beginning. Nevertheless, NA Contemporary or Romance fans will probably enjoy this book! If you're iffy about the book, I also suggest checking out other reviews on the tour, since I'm actually more of a YA rather than a NA reader.

It was kind of like my experience with PUSHING THE LIMITS - I didn't feel like the romance was absolutely necessary to the plot, but by the end, it added something to the book, even if it was a bit cliche.
Overall:
I did end up liking the book (there is a twist and heartbreaking loss in the end 3), even though Jinx's voice bothered me in the beginning. Nevertheless, NA Contemporary or Romance fans will probably enjoy this book! If you're iffy about the book, I also suggest checking out other reviews on the tour, since I'm actually more of a YA rather than a NA reader.

Lennon might be a man-whore, but he had spent a lot of his time taking care and raising her little sister, Currie while trying to finish his senior year in high school. So, you might want to hate him, a whole lot – but you can’t. Because this man might bed any girl and wants to stay out of commitment but at the end of the day, he’s a doting brother to a sister he raised by himself.
Jinx prefer to be nonchalant about the bruises on her arms, or the fact that she’s still hung-up on her ex Zach. She was her first love, and she had loved him with all her heart. But something happened that she has no control of – and rather than telling him the truth, she opted not to. She screwed what amazing thing they have.
She hated Lennon and everything that he represents. How could girls go after this guy?! What could they possibly see in him? The moment she joins his band – and saw him in a different light, things started to change. She had seen his talent, his vulnerability, his great love for his sister, his problems at home and his fight with his father.
Both may be different from each other, but they have one thing in common – both of them had baggage to carry at such a young age. I hate to see them lose their childhood and grow up faster than the rest of their peers.
Besides these two complicated characters, my heart went to two young girls: Zoe and Currie. I would have never guessed their age. They seemed too wise for their age. I just want to give the two of them a warm, tight hugs. They were the heart of the story.
What I like about this story is that the romance didn’t happen all so sudden. Their relationship grew from enemies, to friends, then down to love. It was great watching how their love story unfold before my eyes. But because both of them have baggage, we are in for a rough ride. Their story wasn’t a walk in the park – there will be heartbreaks, betrayal, and even death…
Nevertheless, Chris Myers made me want to read the next book in the series, and looked forward for more Jinx and Lennon.

Can I just start with Lennon? I totally and completely just want to hold that boy. He is broken but he has a good heart. He has a well deserved reputation with the girls for no commitment or attachment but he's committed to the most important girl in his life, his sister. He has never been on a date but he his gets laid on a regular basis. He's been a parent to his younger sister but no one ever parented him. He was neglected and unloved growing up but he is the best at taking care of those in his life. His voice and musical talent get the doors opened for him but he still gets a beer thrown in his face by Jinx. He's know for his kissing skills but his heroism is even more impressive. I want to hold him, keep him and never let him go. I love Lennon Tyler!
It took more for me to like Jinx. She hated Lennon and I really don't understand why. Yes his rep says he doesn't stay with a girl but she seems to have a personal thing against him. Even as she gets to know him, it takes her too long to care about him. I know I feel this way because I cared so much for Lennon but dang girl, don't be so mean to him. Jinx has her own issues. She's just as broken as he is but in a different way. Growing up in a happy home, Jinx is devastated when her Dad dies of Cancer. When her mom marries the Step Monster (love that name), things get a whole lot worse. She loses her boyfriend and can't really get over him. Her big secret is the cause of all of it but I won't clue you in on that. Just know she's broken.
Together, Lennon and Jinx face emotional struggles but discover that they can be there for the other. Joining Lennon's band, Jinx finds out he isn't the bad guy she thought he was. He saves her over and over. He's there for her when she needs someone the most. And she's there for him. As he faces some of his biggest fears, she stands by him holding his hand.
I read this book in a day. It was easy to get stuck in. If meaningful contemporary YA is your thing, then you should so read this one.

I had a pre-conception that 'Lennon's Jinx' would be an escapist YA romance, easy to read and without any emotional connection. I was wrong! 'Lennon's Jinx' kept me up until 2am reading and once I had finished I was tempted to go back and start again.
When the reader meets Lennon he is gatecrashing Jinx's party. Chris Myers introduces Lennon as a jerk - with a heart. Although he clearly has a history with girls, the authour indicates that Lennon is texting a babysitter at home about his sister, suggesting that he is more responsible at home!
However it is not just Lennon who has secrets, as Jinx certainly intimates towards her own. This continues throughout the book and when Jinx reveals the emotion is heightened by the chemistry shared between her and Lennon. Jinx is a beautiful character and her growth in the novel is one of the reasons why I loved it so much. From being scared and alone she joins a band, increases her social circle, finds the courage to tell her secret and even possibly find love.
Lennon is a more complicated character, but I feel that Chris Myers wants her reader to fall in love with him, despite his faults. He has given up his youth to take care of his younger sister,and in truth his mother. My absolute favourite scene was the visit to American Girl Place. Here the reader sees Lennon's teenage vulnerable and paternal sides clashing in a brilliantly humorous, yet touching way. There are difficult issues for Lennon to deal with in this story and eventually the reader is able to meet his maturer alter-ego!

This is one of the books that the reason of reading it was purely because of the synopsis and not the cover, which, between me and you, is awful. The book was part of a tour, and I was supposed to review it a month ago, but due to studies I couldn't.
The book is written by two point of views: Lennon's and Ginx's. The characters themselves have difficult background, that you understand fully, by the end of the book. I liked that the characters were complex and not the simple ones I tend to read. Also, in this case, both characters had something to hide, reveal and accept by the end of the book. In other words, grow up and become more mature.
The main problem I found on the book was, that because the author was a woman, there were some things from Lennon's point of view that seemed slightly off and weird for a woman to write, even though the author tried and kept in the sense of reason. I think I started looking the book in a different aspect when I learnt that the author was a woman and not a man that I thought in the beginning. Also, because I have to put it on the negative paragraph, I didn't like the flow of the story, during the end. Something happens, and the whole thing is written in a very fast and sad way. And as a result, the end of the book, leaves you with a bittersweet taste.
Bottom line, I liked it. It was intense, amusing and you could actually see the change of the characters through out the story. It had a more mature language and descriptions, but that was actually a plus. I couldn't understand why the book had to be a trilogy, but the author makes it clear at the author's note, and now, I have to admit, that I'm anxious to read the next one too.

Lennon is a high school senior. Put in charge of raising his little sister Currie, by his absentee mother and rock star father, there is more to him than meets the eye. Never having time for a real relationship he goes from one girl to the next. He meets Jinx at a party and she instantly hates everything about him. His reputation is enough to keep anyone away and she wants nothing to do with him. Lennon can't stop thinking about Jinx, much to his dismay. Needing a new keyboardist for their band, they hold tryouts and Jinx shows up to audition, much to Lennon's surprise and delight. Jinx needs the money. She is desperately trying to earn her own way so she can move out and away from her stepfather. Jinx is hiding a deep, dark shameful secret and the last thing she needs is Lennon in her life. Will two broken people be able to come together and help heal each other?
This is the second book I have read by Chris Myers and each book is wonderful. I was thrilled to get a chance to be a part of this book tour. This book has such wonderful characters. As soon as I saw the cover of this book, I knew I needed to read it. Something about the redhead on the cover just spoke to me.
It didn’t quite live up to my expectations, but I still enjoyed it. I liked the characters, especially 9-year-old Currie. Lennon seemed like the typical womanizing bad-boy until his little sister Currie was introduced, and I realized how wrapped around her little finger he really was. At first I didn’t understand the dynamic between them, but as the story progressed I understood about their terrible useless parents. Jinx acted quite stuck up, though her side of the story is told quite quickly as to why she acts the way she does. I liked the interaction between them at first, it felt authentic to me.
Some parts of the plot felt a little forced, and sometimes a bit too easy, but I like that Myers didn’t back down from problems that kids actually have to deal with. The problems are exaggerated for the sake of the story. Neither Jinx’s or Lennon and Currie’s parents were there for them, and they were forced to either internalize their hurt or act out on it. I had hopes that Lennon would be able to soften Jinx and that she would be able to settle him down, that they would complete eachother.
This was the first book in the Lennon’s Girls series. I’m hoping that both characters are more developed in the next two books in the series and continue to grow as individuals and together.
