Rate this book
Andrew's mother, Marion, works for Epsom Electronics, a security company that makes high-tech spy gear to keep world leaders safe. When she goes missing on the eve of a G8 summit in Halifax, Andrew and his father work desperately to find her. Luckily, Andrew and his best friend, both thirteen, are no strangers to danger, and they follow Andrew's instincts-which run directly counter to the instructions his father gave him. When the two friends are nearly caught in a huge explosion at Citadel Hill, Andrew realizes his mother could be in even deeper trouble than he thought. Enlisting help from a credulous news reporter, the boys chase clues all over the HRM, narrowly avoiding serious harm on many occasions. Finally, they finally uncover a top-secret assassination plot-but are they just in time, or just a little too late?

Julia's review:

This book follows Andrew and Brian as they chase spies around the Halifax area. They are on a mission to save Andrew’s mom as she has mysteriously gone missing. They have to against time as some very important people are coming for an event the following day, can they save the world? The genre of this book is action and adventure.

this is an action-packed novel with lots of adventure. This book has lots of witty characters and a great plot to keep you guessing till the end. This book is set in rural Nova Scotia and the author is also from Nova Scotia.

I thought this book was great at showcasing the history of the Citadel which is in Nova Scotia and really shows that anyone can catch spies.

Overall, although I wouldn’t necessarily pick up this book or the genre, I really enjoyed the fast-paced action-packed adventure that I was brought into. I thought that the characters were really well-written and the the plot felt a little bit magical. This book showed me and will show other teens that anyone can be a spy.
