Real Reads are accessible texts designed to support the literacy development of primary and lower secondary age children while introducing them to the riches of our international literary heritage. Each book is a retelling of a work of great literature from one of the world’s greatest cultures, fitted into a 64-page book, making classic stories, dramas and histories available to intelligent young readers as a bridge to the full texts, to language students wanting access to other cultures, and to adult readers who are unlikely ever to read the original versions.

I bought this book from amazon without noticing it’s a short retold version of the real piece. It was too late to return when I noticed it, so I gave it a go.

Although the English of the summary was quite successful, it was a lacking narrative which leaves you puzzled about who is who, what just happened and why questions.

I don’t recommend, sorry. And, it should be clearly stated on the cover of the book that it is a retold version.

Oh sure, there were some dreadfully long, dull parts but doing this as a readalong, taking my time made me appreciate things in this one I might have skimmed over if I were trying to get through it myself.
