BDSM romance about a married couple healing their marriage. The Dom H was doing all the work tbh and I got really irritated with the back and forth, easily manipulated h who seemed the main block in the marriage. But the H really loved h and so for his sake I'm glad there was a HEA.

Recommended for readers who like BDSM romance, dirty talk, quietly strong Dom H's and kinky smex scenes.

Safe romance.

4.5 stars!

ARC kindly provided by Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

This is the story of Alexis and Rene, a married couple who lost each other.

This book is nothing like I've been reading lately. The story of Alexis and Rene touched me as I got to see after the happy end of a love story. How a misunderstanding or day-to-day life may effect a couple, how love is just not enough!

Ms. Murphy is writing beautiful stories that stay with me even after the turn of the last page! Although her stories have BDSM elements, they are not the solemn focus of the plot and they view a D/s relationship in a deeper level!

Alexis has lost her trust to her husband and she is focusing in her job instead of her marriage. She goes through the motions of everyday life but she misses something. Alexis upset me a couple of times with her actions but I can honestly understand where she comes from.

Rene is feeling that he is losing his wife. He is changing his approach to her in order to gain her trust back! I really liked him!

Their interactions were beautiful! The trust to each other didn't happen overnight and there were so many truths in this story!

The end of the story was really fantastic! I definitely recommend this book to everyone who enjoys an honest erotic romance!

Full disclosure: I'm an author, I do know this author, and I did get a sneak peak at this book. That said, I read a lot of books by authors I know and I review VERY few because I would never recommend a book I couldn't stand behind. I HAD to review this book because it's by far the best BDSM book I've read since Ann Rice back in the 80's. I loved these characters and, for the first time, actually found myself truly understanding the emotional aspects of a dynamic like this. The sex was smoking hot, the relationship poignant and loving, the banter funny and sharp. If you like BDSM, I'd be stunned if you didn't love Riley Murphy.

The Romance Review

Romance is overrated. Flowers, date night and chocolates do not bridge the gap between an estranged husband and wife.

Rene is at his wits' end. His marriage is falling apart. The marriage counseling is worse than useless. Changing his way to connect with his wife Alexis has accomplished nothing but more silence and avoidance.

Alexis knows her marriage is in shambles. She's clueless how to fix it and she lays the blame at her husband's feet. Her career matters and now that it is taking off, he's unhappy about it. He wants to control her by forcing her to become pregnant.

There are two sides of a story is never more apparent, than in this book. Sadly, Alexis is the one in the wrong and boy, is she in for a rude awakening. Her insistence of a perceived wrong against her by Rene is such a grievous offense it is amazing Rene doesn't divorce her already. Her blindness to her misconduct and the callous disrespect to Rene are beyond appalling. One can really see how much Rene loves Alexis to suffer through her abuse, betrayal and disobedience.

It is with pleasure to see Rene bring Alexis back in line. The crux of the issue is Alexis's desire to be submissive yet her inability to reconcile with her powerful career. It is a delicate balance and one which Alexis epically failed. Fortunately, Rene is there to catch her and help her find her way back to him. The love and devotion Rene showers upon Alexis is breathtaking. He's a truly loving husband who wants to save his marriage and help his wife be happy again. His plan is clever and sexy.

Ms. Riley creates a contemporary everyday failing marriage and saves it in a unique and sexy way. One wonders if Ms. Riley is in the sex therapy and marriage counseling business as a day job. The D/s part of this story is fabulous. Rene's orders for Alexis could come across as busy work yet they are erotically tinged. The way some of the common chores are twisted with a D/s tone is hot. This can be applied in any marriage open to kink and yield hot loving results. It is impressive and yet elegantly practical. I'll be pilfering some of these ideas to spice up my own marriage.

I really enjoyed this story because the characters are so realistic and it hits close to home. The epiphanies smacking Alexis upside the head are distressing to watch. Alexis realizes almost too late how badly she's hurt her husband. Before she can make amends, Michael, the instigator further wrecks havoc on her crumbling marriage. This raw scene is excruciating to witness. Just when I think it will all blow up, Ms. Riley spins the situation into a happy and credible ending. It's nice to see there are no good guys or bad guys. There are only people who make mistakes and receive a chance to correct them. This BDSM story is recommended to kinky lovers in distress who need a gentle guide to rediscover the spark.

You read the first half of the story and you really aren't quite sure what is going on. You watch Alexis and Rene's marriage crumbling before your eyes and you don't quite understand why. You see his anger but you can't quite understand where it is coming from. You watch her throw herself into her job and you can't quite understand what is driving her behavior. Don't worry. Just be patient.

7 years ago, Rene met Alexis and magic happened. He was her perfect Dominant and She was his perfect Submissive. Just so you understand, though, she was his submissive, not his slave. She didn't wear his collar - even while they were playing - and she didn't call him Master - even while they were playing. And she still had her negotiated hard limits. But they were happy and soon they were married and things continued to be good.

Until one day he broke her trust. Or at least that was her impression of what happened... which really amounted to the same thing. That was six months ago. Since that day, nothing has been the same. And if they don't fix it now it will be beyond repair. Because what neither of them realizes is that there is a third person in their life and he is getting tired of waiting.

I thought this book did something you very rarely see - take a long-term look at a BDSM relationship. It wasn't so much that things had become less intense because I don't think they had. But trying to balance career and whether to have a family became something they had to figure out.

It was really amazing how much of the story took place in one afternoon and how well it worked. How Alex became focused on living in the moment. Really an amazing bit of writing.

I had to buy this book once I'd read the excerpt which hooked me with its hot, emotional and evocative prose and dialogue.
Rest-assured, I wasn't disappointed. Riley Murphy has crafted a story that's an emotional, sensual and unpredictable journey. I love that this story is about a married couple, and I really liked and empathized with both Alexis and Rene as they struggled to regain a balance in their relationship. Also, this story is smokin' hot! Did I mention that? ;)
Reclaimed Surrender is the perfect balance of heart and heat--a breathtaking look at love, hope and true commitment.

Alexis is a workaholic with a failing marriage. She and her husband Rene have barely spoken in months and their sex life is now non-existing. After going to counseling, they both agree to give one another a week to try and rekindle their relationship but Alex agrees to a business trip during her week rather than work things out. After an unwanted advance from her coworker/confidant Michael, Alex returns home not only feeling guilty for the unwanted kiss, but also for missing their anniversary dinner. When she walks through the door, Rene is waiting. His demand? Alex must earn her way back to his heart and to his bed and she has 1 week to do it. Is he kidding?

Rene is determined to save his relationship with his wife. She was once the perfect submissive, anxious to please, and willing to work for his approval. When her career began taking off, their relationship fell flat and when Rene asked to have children, Alex was not willing. When a simple mistake is made during the heat of passion, trust is questioned and the heat between Rene and Alex grows cold. After Alex ignores her opportunity to work things out, Rene decides to show her that her Dom has not left and that she must learn to trust him again so that her true self can finally be free to love and be loved the way she was meant to be.

Not all BDSM stories are able to give a reader a taste of the true commitment involved in a D/s relationship. Riley Murphy has captured the true heart of how fragile and intricate these relationships can be and the dedication it takes for a Dom and his submissive to truly meet the needs of one another in a loving partnership. The characters are beautifully developed and the remorse felt by Rene in his failure to meet his submissive's needs is breathtaking. The author shows understanding of how cherished a submissive feels when appreciated and the anxious feeling gained by awaiting a punishment and the pleasure to follow. What I enjoyed most about this story is the amazing feeling of freedom conveyed in the act of accepting a collar. This does not simply mean recieving one but actually accepting that one is willing to give up all control and be free to let someone else understand and take care of your needs. What a beautiful story and an insightful look into the crucial difference between bdsm in the bedroom and bdsm as a lifestyle.

This was one of the best BDSM books I've read! It was a beautiful story and was an insightful look into the difference between BDSM in the bedroom and BDSM as a lifestyle.

The heat level burned my Kindle. The story of Rene and Alexis was real and Rene was a hero you could fall in love with. It was realistic, emotional and the banter between husband and wife was good.

Rene found himself neck deep in marital unbliss. He is prepared to whatever it takes to reclaim his wife's surrender. For too long he has put her on a pedestal and the sex had become vanilla.

Alexis has felt alone and unfulfilled for some time. Rene seemed distant and did not seem to want his wife any longer.

They attend therapy to try and get their marriage back on track. The counsellor suggests a week of "as you wish" therapy. Alexis expects chocolates and flowers but instead she ends up, spanked, restrained and collared.

The spanking scene was so realistic (now you know why my Kindle burned out) the sex scenes (phew) and the collar scene (well).

Rene loved his wife, he wanted her back, he reclaimed her surrender.

I just can't wrap my mind around a relationship ( that is pushing it) like that. Why would you allow someone to treat you in some aspects as a child and in others as an object to be used?

I don't understand why it took Rene 6 month to address their marital problems. Also after he had the upper hand he pushed her hard limits.
She never was interested in anal sex and he had to have it. It's another " our souls" can't meet if we don't have anal sex. His constant
"I want it so you should want it to please me, don't you want to please me", I want you to beg me to give it to you. It just kept going on and on.
The heroine Alex also never wanted to address him as Master but now she had to and he even put a collar on her. His comment of "I never loved you more then when you call me Master" is manipulative. I never got the impression that she called him Master because she really wanted to. His constant repeating of remember you want to please me, you want what makes me happy was really annoying.
I feel Alexis accepted his collar and calling him Master way to fast.
I also did not care for him humiliating her in front of her co worker.
While I found the story hot and interesting in the beginning, once Rene started with the collar and call me "Master", I lost all interest in the book.
To me he was not a very likeable person, very selfish and manipulative his only concern being what he wanted.

I understand why Alexis is reluctant to bring children into this.

Reclaimed Surrender is a fabulous book. Not only is the chemistry scorching, but it also satisfied the emotional need. I just wish a certain man would have gotten more of a kicking, but that's probably just me;). I definitely recommend the book and look forward to what Riley comes up with next.

This was a different kind of story.it was about an established relationship that went cold and got rekindled. It was a light BDSM book but it was not really BDSM since there was no use of safe words and that bothered me.
I thought the first half of the book was slow and really took to long to establish the dynamic of the book. Then when the climax of the book occurred it just took off. The book had an interesting take since most books on BDSM do not begin with a marri d couple. The r st of the story was ok and really didn't reveal enough about the characters. I would have stopped but I committed to read this for a challenge.

4 stars Reclaimed Surrender is an erotic romance by Riley Murphy.

Rene and Alexis Tanner had always enjoyed the Dominant/submissive dynamic they had until a year ago when things started falling apart. Now they’re neck-deep in marital unbliss. Six months ago an unfortunate incident during a D/s scene damaged Alexis’ trust in Rene and upset the balance of power between them. They’ve barely spoken in months, and their sex life is non-existent. Their home has become a battlefield, and with each passing week the distance between them has broadened leaving Alexis to feel she had no choice but to emotionally remove herself from it and keep busy. To escape their failing marriage and feed her loneliness, she’s poured all of her time and energy into filling up her life with an all-consuming career. But when their marriage counselor suggests they try a therapy exercise—a week each to rekindle their relationship—Alexis squanders away her seven days of rediscovery by ignoring Rene for the first half, then leaving on a business trip for the remainder. Now, it’s his turn …

Rene Tanner is prepared to do whatever it takes to reclaim his wife's surrender. At first he thought the exercise their therapist had presented was silly and pointless, until he realized it could be tweaked to accommodate their particular tastes. Rene’s determined to utilize his time with his wife in a productive way and reinstate his dominance in and out of the bedroom. For one week Alexis is his. No excuses, no denials, no breaking plans or late nights working. She’ll have to obey all of his commands and completely submit to him … in all things—no exceptions. She’s going to have to earn her way back into his good graces, and … his bed.

Alexis was expecting to be wined and dined, wooed with flowers and chocolate—perhaps a romantic movie night. Instead she finds herself in leather restraints and a silver collar. Now she must trust Rene enough to surrender to her darkest desires, or be forced to let him go forever.

Reclaimed Surrender is a well-written, emotionally intimate story about a couple’s failing marriage. The characters are realistic and easy to connect with, and Ms. Murphy illustrates wonderfully the complexities of a D/s power exchange dynamic within a marriage—the dedication it takes for a loving D/s partnership to truly meet the needs of one another, and how fragile and intricate this type of relationship can be. Rene’s character, as a husband and a Dom, was written beautifully. There was no doubt that he loved his wife with all his heart, and that he wanted to give her everything she needed as a submissive. Reclaimed Surrender is an erotic story of second chances, misunderstandings and regret, and of love and desire. It contains smoking hot sex, light to moderate BDSM, and a satisfying HEA.

Content: graphic language, explicit sex, oral, anal, toys, bondage, spanking, and discipline.

This is my first book by this author and I have to say that I absolutely loved it and Riley Murphy has been added to my list of favourite BDSM authors. The heat level in this book is so hot it's off the scale, it really was a sexy book. There was more to this book than kinky sex though - it was a touching, emotional story of lost trust with a hero who works hard to regain that trust. I found the author's writing style to be really easy to read, the writing seemed effortless and gripped me right from the first page.

Alexis and Rene used to have a loving D/s relationship, but for the last few months things have been extremely tense between them and they are no longer Dom and sub. Rene made a mistake and Alexis saw this as a breach of trust and has been unable to move past this. A third party has also been putting thoughts in Alexis' head in an attempt to break her marriage apart. But Rene has a plan to rebuild their relationship - he needs to stop treating her with kid gloves and treat her as his much loved submissive again.

Rene and Alexis are both strong, well written characters and the connection between them is obvious despite the problems they are going through. Their sexual chemistry is so, so hot - this pair will catch your kindle on fire! The BDSM elements were well done and I really enjoyed the punishment scene. This is the first book in the Trust In Me series so I plan to check out the other stories in the near future. Reclaimed Surrender definitely receives five sexy stars.

What happens when an alpha Dom loses the trust of his Sub?
What if there's someone planting the seed of that mistrust in her mind?

Rene is a fabulous character! He's alpha, caring and so easy to love.
Alexis is his perfect match, his Sub, his Kitten but something has happened to create a wedge between them.

Despite being married and sharing a D/s life, Alexis has confided in the wrong person. A person that she thinks is a friend but who has their own motives...thus creating a chasm between the married couple.

Alexis has given up and is no longer trying. She no longer trusts her Dom and despite loving him, can't seem to reconcile the two sides to herself, her powerful, career-driven persona, with that of her submissive inner self.

But without honesty and truthfulness, how can they ever regain what they've lost?

I loved this story. It's well written and drew me in right from the start. The characters are well thought out and it's a quick, easy and enjoyable read.
There are only three characters in the entire book and I found this quite different.

This is book #1 in the Trust In Me series and I can't wait to delve into book 2!

This is another amazing story by Riley Murphy. A huge 4.5 stars for me. Ethan and Colin's story is still tops in my book - but Rene and Alexis' story was a great read too. I really loved how Riley took on marriage as the setting for this story. Too many other BDSM books are more about the meeting of the two characters and not to often do you get to see what it's like after the "I dos". Once again, Riley Murphy portrays a strong, intelligent, independent woman in Alexis Tanner. And, I really liked seeing that side of a submissive female in a story.

The two "surrender" books are completely different so you don't need to read them in any specific order. But, if you're looking for a good BDSM romance story, I would encourage you to give Riley Murphy a try.

Reclaimed Surrender is about a married D/s couple thats marriage was falling apart, and how they worked it all out.

Honestly I wasnt expecting much from that.

I was wrong!! It was exactly what I wanted to read!! I was Real! It was heartbreaking!! I was in the story so much, my heart was pounding every time the /s was! If the rest of the series is as great as this, the author should have sold a million or more copies!!!

I absolutely loved this book. The only issue I had with it is I felt it could have been fleshed out a bit more. I don't know exactly what more I wanted from it, but I felt like something was missing. Overall though I loved the characters and the plot. Rene was harsh, but not unreasonably so and it was obvious that he loved Alexis.

I would say this is the best BDSM novel I've read so far. It was a page turner to some extent. I'll go straight to the end because that's where my interest was most high. The confrontation between Rene and Michael...Michael, usually I like a man with balls of steel but that was just a no. You are going after a married woman. And I don't understand why Alex was just standing there acting like boo-boo the fool instead of defusing the situation. She could have told Michael she led him on by running to him with her marital problems but she loves Rene. Instead she just stood there and let her husband believe she slept with another man

The addition of a prologue and an epilogue to Riley Murphy's Reclaimed Surrender adds so much to the original version. Rene and Alexis renew their Dom/sub relationship and their marriage. Their journey brings them even closer together than before. If I had to choose my favorite part of the story, it would be when Rene apologizes for not valuing their partnership. "I chose them. All the people that were expecting the church wedding and a reception at that club, over you. Over your life-long dream of being married outside with the sun warming your hair...And for that thoughtlessness I want to apologize. I should have chosen you. You are what's most important to me. You are closest to my heart. All those other people outside of where we are together? They come in second, Alexis. From now on I'll only ever choose you." This book always has had a special place in my heart. It's the first glimpse I had of what a true Dom/sub relationship is all about. I highly recommend Reclaimed Surrender. It's sure to find a special place in your heart as well.

From the first page, you really get a feeling of marital unease and the tension between Alexis and her husband. She is dissatisfied with her life and dreads being home. The writing here is amazing and the emotion just pours up from the page and sucks you in. Although you aren't sure at the onset of the book what exactly has happened, it is clear that some kind of breach of trust has occurred and the marriage has suffered almost an insurmountable hit. It is visceral and it tugged my guts out as I read.

The sexual tension between Alex and Rene is scorching and I could not tear my eyes away. Think angry sex ramped up to The War of the Roses-but better. Ummmm. When Rene reads Alex's journals and turns the tables on her after she misses their anniversary dinner, things get really interesting. Spankable moments, some sexy scenes and a showdown at the end with someone else who wants a piece of Alex and isn't taking no for an answer.

4.5/5

This book was well written and I enjoyed both the story and character development. I thought there was a realistic feel to this book in how the couple interacted, the problems they faced and the things they explored. Is that vague enough? (Don't want to give too much away.) It was a story first and not simply sex scenes strung together. It dealt with the marital problems the couple faced and how they overcame them. Dom/sub is a major theme throughout the book and the dialog between the couple is quite sexy at times.

The sexual build up in this story was great until... Let's just say the sexual scenes near the end of the book were outstanding, especially if you want to read about a couple's first-time experience with anal play. This author really did a nice job of making the sexy moments really hot and descriptive without a raunchy feel. The bondage, spanking and collaring were magnificent! Let me just say my panties experienced a total meltdown!

Solid 3.5

OK WOW. Firstly I must tell you this is the first "BDSM" book I have read in which the main characters are a married couple. They have hit a rough patch and are trying to rebuild what they have lost. Most of what I have read in this genre is the virgin/sex trade storyline. Which, I must say,I am sooooo over.

I found this to be a loving couple fighting to stay together in their own way. Theirs may not be the typical marriage but it works for them. Everyone has their kinks and these two defiantly do. What can I say….. I liked it. Well done Mrs. Murphy :)
