A Town Called Jericho marks the debut of a new novelist whose grasp of character and place is matched with an ability to build suspense rivaling Stephen King's. A stranger's hatred for Jericho, North Dakota, evolves in a sinister fashion, the only question being which victim will best satisfy his need for revenge.
Joel Stone was born in Brooklyn. He graduated from Princeton University and was a Fulbright Scholar at the Sorbonne. His first novel, A Town Called Jericho, was published in 1992 and nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. He died in 2007 and is survived by his wife, the poet Dorothy Stone.
