This is an interesting book. I have met regularly with a group of Christian friends / leaders to go through each chapter and discuss and meditate what this means for our own city. This book is very useful in getting us to think less about our own individual churches - which are important - but more about the bigger picture - reaching out to our own city. The book is not perfect in that it comes from an American perspective which is not the same as that of the UK. Nevertheless we found this book helpful and have spent a lot of time going through it and thinking about how to apply some of the key themes to our own city context. The biggest thinks I got from this is that to reach out to a city seriously requires the different churches to work together. Yes we have our own bit of the war (Nehemiah) to work on but we still need to work much more closely together if we are to seriously meet the challenge and bring the gospel to our own cities.
