Lorijo Metz lives with her husband and little brown dog in the great state of Indiana. Though she has a degree in acting and directing, she much prefers the anonymity of the keyboard, allowing her characters to revel in the spotlight while she sits quietly sipping tea or coffee, nibbling on cookies, and dreaming up ways to complicate their lives.

WHEELS, Lorijo's middle-grade, Science Fiction, Adventure, which reviewers say is, "Brilliant," "Whacky, loads of fun," and "...one I know I'll reread," was awarded a stipend from ACX, Amazon's audible division. Look for it on Amazon.com, Audible.com and iTunes in time for the 2014 holiday season.

In 2013, Lorijo made her début as a lyricist. She wrote the lyrics for the title track on PUPPY DOG JIG, performed by children's singer and songwriter Owen Duggan on his newest CD.

3rd Grade Mathematics (Millard Public Schools)

MA S 03.2 Students will communicate geometric concepts and measurement concepts using multiple representations to reason, solve problems, and make connections within mathematics and across disciplines.
MA S 03.2.5 Measurement: Students will apply appropriate procedures/tools to determine measurements using customary/metric units.
a. Measure length to the nearest 1⁄2 inch and centimeter

Explanation: I would read this book to the students before talking about centimeters and inches. When using this book, each student should have the rulers out to see differences in the inches and centimeter sides. The information given in the illustrations will really help the students see what each of the marking on the ruler represent.

Rationale: This book shows how to use a ruler and how to read both the inches and centimeter sides. It uses pictures to give tips on getting the most accurate measurement possible.
