This was a stellar book. It is a fast paced, compelling story that grips you from the first chapter. The weaving of the events that led to the conclusion was masterful story telling. Fun stuff.

Excellent story

Reader beware!
This is not a an easy horror story to read! It is a story with a town with a past. A horrible past with a debt to be paid. It's not so much that there is Gore, it's that when the town's secrets start coming out, they are horrible and difficult to grasp.
Therein lies the true horror. The are a few characters you will like, however most you probably will not. I guess that's a spoiler alert (given too late). But don't let this stop you from reading this horror/mystery tale. It is worth the read. I got the feeling ( through well written character development that several of the characters caught up in the narrative had (as many people do over a lifetime) evolved, and were truly horror stricken about events that had taken place in their town. Perhaps caught up in events, in a geographical area and during a time period, at such young ages that over their lives they had tried to make things "right" -as it were.

Then there is just true evil. And a reckoning to be paid by us all. No matter where your beliefs may lie.

And if my review has totally confused you. If you're a fan of a good horror tale, just read the book! I love a good horror tale mixed in with some mystery, throw in some southern gothic and you've got yourself a great read!

I enjoyed this story once the momentum picked up. Rich, interesting characters and a story steeped in Old South...both the good and the very very bad of it. The premise of the story was very appealing to me. Retribution that is at once deserved as it is frightening. My only real gripe with the book was the more than once misspelling of Roberta's name. Get it right! Can't have a name that close between male and female and then have "oopsies" in the final publication. Other than that...LOVED IT

I enjoyed this book. Good characters, you like the good ones and hate the bad ones. I'm not sure what it was but something was missing for me. While I enjoyed the book; I wasn't completely drawn in. It took me a bit to finish it.

Really loved the story, but was shocked at the number of mistakes and miss-spellings. Even character names were wrong in some passages. Does no one edit books anymore? This author deserves better than this edition.
