Jeanette Battista graduated with an English degree with a concentration in medieval literature which explains her possibly unhealthy fixation on edged weapons and cathedral architecture. She spent a summer in England and Scotland studying the historical King Arthur, which did nothing to curb her obsession. To satisfy her adrenaline cravings—since sword fighting is not widely accepted in these modern times—she rode a motorcycle at ridiculously high speeds, got some tattoos, and took kickboxing and boxing classes. She gave up the bike when her daughter came along, although she still gets pummeled at the gym on a regular basis.

When she’s not writing or working, Jeanette spends time with family, hikes, reads, makes decadent brownies, buys killer boots, and plays Pocket Frogs. She wishes there were more hours in the day so she could actually do more of these things. She lives with her daughter and their ancient, ill-tempered cat in North Carolina.

Oh man, let me tell you how much I love this series! I read all four books in three days, which still include a full time 10.5 hour work day, and normal house chore, and building a house! I read this book in particular in not quite 4 hours- and no it is NOT short, because this series has got me completely wrapped around its little finger! And book four is awesome. Each book gets better and better and it was definitely expected here but Hunter Moon has exceeded my expectations! I am now going to try to explain why without giving spoilers for this one, or the first three books

If I have to chose, I will say the most main characters are Kess, Laila, and a bad guy! No spoilers remember there are still all my favorite characters- minus Burke- which include Finn, Cormac, Rafe, and Mebis, along with some new characters, some which I believe will have some more screen time in the future, because this series needs to continue! I will say I’m surprised, because usually characters are pretty set, but these characters are still growing and developing and even surprising me with their choices. I love when that happens! It’s pretty cool to me. And I also love that there’s new characters that you meet and even though they are new, you learn about them like you did with all the other veteran characters. Zamiel has me ridiculously intrigued beyond belief!

Lets talk plot a second… Fantastic story line!! There are always reasons for weres to be hunted, especially those in secret trying to keep it that- a secret. But this plot line has taken it to a whole new level. And getting to read from the “bad guy’s” perspective is fascinating. No I still don’t completely understand the reasoning and definitely don’t agree, but who the hell ever understands a psycho madman!? It’s done so well, that you aren’t contemplating that you’re reading from the evil mastermind’s head, but needing to know where it’s going to go from here. I found myself wanting to know so badly if he’d get his come-upance! Expertly done!

Lastly, let me just say I’ve fallen in love with these characters so much! I’m still a big fan of Kess and Cormac from the first book, an they’ve been through so much, but now I’m completely invested in much more than only them. And you almost never get a storyline with multiple were species trying to work together! And the writing is just perfect. This author has the writing style to make it dark, scary, and even a little bloody, while still giving you hope, love, lightness, and beauty… That’s pretty hard to accomplish in my opinion! All I can say now is… MS JEANETTE PLEASE GIVE ME SO MUCH MORE- SOON!! 5
GRACEFULLY UNEXPECTED FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC PAWS! you’ve definitely got a fan girl stalker in me… I’m going to try to patiently wait for more GO NOW- I’ll wait right here- AND GET THIS SERIES… Cuz I say so LOL!

I think this book is my fav in the series.

Things are looking good for the gang. The werehyenas are put of the question and now Kess, Finn and Rafe can concentrate in making their idea of the Council work. And avoid death by the hands of the keepers. But then a Hunter comes to town, and he wants to finish his collection before the time is out.

This book had a few surprises I didn't see coming. Hunter Moon is full of secret plans, unexpected events and lots of prank courtesy of Finn and Rafe.

What I really loved about this book was the chance to see how all the characters grow and develop into their roles.

Kess is now in full Clean Leader mode, she understands her duty to her people in a different light and she wants to keep Miami safe.
Finn proves his strengths and his maturity like never before. And Rafe kinda learns to stand up for himself. And still this last two can act like 5 y.o. making sure you have a laugh.
We have Laila back, and with Laila in the picture... wild behavior is at order. We see a vulnerable side to her in this, and I really liked it.

The story of the Hunter, Lukas, was really good. The perfect character you can hate for all he's doing, and at the same time, you do have a little sympathy for him.

A character that surprised me was Zamiel. At first, I wasn't so sure about him and what that could mean for the whole story (He appears in the prologue) but as the story unfolded, I got to like him. (as much as you can like him).

I'll admit, I cried with this one... The last conversation between Mebis and Laila? Yeah... get tissues. But it was so sweet and perfect, it was totally worth the tears!

With this book, Jeanette brings more elements to this world full of werecreatures, and it works out perfectly. I couldn't put it down. The tension grows through all the book in a game of hunter and pray. And this time, they're threaten by more than a rival clan while the pressure of The Keppers is always present.

Some say this is the last book in the series, I don't know about that... the book ends with a cliffhanger and I really hope there will be more...

Action And Intrigue - Better Than The Third Book

This fourth book was much better than the third in my opinion. There was more action, and some intrigue. There were challenges to overcome, and several different POV's, which made the storytelling much more interesting.

I found the story flowed well, and the characters kept my interest, especially Laila in this one. Lukas had some serious issues, which he obviously couldn't get past, hence the reason for the plot of this book.

Overall, not a bad book. If you made it through the third book, this was so much better. Some issues were resolved between partners. The ending is done in such a way, it leaves it open for a possible fifth book of the author is inclined.

Continuing the story from previous books, this one had a sad note to it. The story line was still pretty good though and it kept my interest. However, at the end of this book there is still a lot of room for future books. No one has progressed pass the girlfriend/boyfriend stage. There is an open seat on the council for a keeper and there's no telling what is going to happen to Laila.

I received hunter moon in return for an honest review. Things are starting to settle down for Kess now that the werehyena’s are no long a threat. Kess hopes to open Miami up to all the weres who are interested by creating a council instead of just one alpha in charge. That way everyone will have a voice starting with Rafe and Finn. However Rafe’s old pack mates start missing, they also learn that Mebis is also missing, causing the council to look for solutions. It’s while looking for Mebis that Kess bumps into Lukas a stranger who is new to town whom she suspects is a were. While trying to find out more about him, she finds his collection of animal trophies he’s collected over the last three years. One trophy catchers her eye as a golden jackal just like the missing Mebis.
As the trio realizes that Lukas is not a were but a hunter who has his eyes set on hunting Kess they start taking actions to protect her. Finn calls in Cormac to protect Kess he also tells his girlfriend Laila that her brother has been missing. When Laila arrives in town Kess tells her the truth about Mebis showing her the photo she took. Laila blames Kess for not taking care of her brother and sets out to get her revenge on the hunter avoiding the council and Finn. Laila learns that Lukas is working the a deal making demon, but the demon seems to be interested in her. With the new arrival of a keep to return Laila the group is running out of time to catch the hunter before it’s too late.
Hunter Moon is a well balanced mix of mystery and suspense that keeps you guessing all the way to the end. Even though we have an insight into Lukas’s point of view which I think is very interesting. To me I’m always curious as to why they do what they do the bad guys. Of course I still love Kess but Laila is growing on me more and more there is something about that girl. Maybe it’s because she comes across in the books as a kick-ass-heroine at least that’s how I see her. I mean Kess is tough but I’d rather face Kess then Laila plus I would want her on my side. The characters are evolving in each book getting better and better as they get older. Rafe has come progressed so much from his the start of the last book he’s growing into a strong male character. I found the whole story captivating right from the start, and didn’t put it down till I was finished reading the whole this afternoon. I’m curious to see what happens next in the series based on the way things are left in the book. The Moon Series is becoming one of my favorite shape-shifter series. I just love the stories and the characters so much.

IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE REST OF THE SERIES STOP NOW - THIS IS THE FINAL BOOK AND THEREFORE AUTOMATICALLY CONTAINS SPOILERS. . .

Lukas, an 18 year old kid with a whole mess of family problems, makes a deal with a demon to make him the greatest hunter of all time, for all time, in exchange for his soul in three years time. Zameil gives him an old gun, with magical bullets that once fired never, ever miss their intended target. And Zameil shows Lukas the ultimate animal to hunt - weres. A combination of human and animal, but retaining the human intellect even when in animal form.

His collection is almost complete, now all he needs now is one more big cat. Zameil brings him to Miami. Between the magical bullets and the magical pendant that heats up anytime he is near a were, he has no risk of shooting a pure human. But to keep them from changing to human form he collars them after forcing the change with a concoction Zameil gave him, this way he can't be accused of murder and he gets his kill in their animal form, which he has magically mounted.

Rafe gets a call, a werehyena has gone missing. He and Finn go to check it out with limited results. Then another call, this time finding the offal, so they know now that someone is hunting weres. And then Mebis, who was permanently assigned to Miami to watch over Kess and crew doesn't show for two sparring sessions in a row, both scheduled with Kess, who he has been training in her human form to make her less vulnerable. Obviously something is very wrong in the city of Miami.

Kess meets Lukas and thinks he might be a new were in the city that hasn't checked in with the council she created, opening up Miami to all weres. She agrees to go out with him to try to suss him out, not knowing at the time that he is the hunter they are all looking for.

At his condo she asks to use the powder room and he tells her where it is, only when she enters the room & turns on the light she sees a room full of mounted trophy kills. She knows who the hunter is now, but will she be his final kill? And what happened to Mebis, the super-skilled assassin from the Keepers of the Divine Order? These questions and more are answered in this final installment in the series. Definitely worthy beach reading, or just for fun reading!

*** I won this book on Goodreads Firstreads***

I was pleasantly surprised with this book. It is book 4 in the series and I haven't read the first 3 yet. I was hoping I wouldn't be too lost. I found this book could legitimately stand on its own. Jeanette Battista did an expert job making sure the reader would not be lost if this was the first book of the series they picked up. However, I'm sure if I had read the previous books I would have enjoyed it even more and likely gotten more out of it and the over arching story. This is not a grade school book report so I'm not going to get into she did this and then he said that....

There were so many interesting characters in this book. Ones that are obviously main stays such as Kess and Finn, but also newcomers such as the demon, Zamiel, and Lukas aka bad guy. The author did a notable job making a fully developed Lukas character and making the reader feel a little bit for him through the exploration of his backstory. In the end however, it comes down to the fact that no matter how crappy your life has been, you are responsible for your decissions and actions ie, hunting innocent people for your own glory.

The writing style was very easy to read and the story was stimulating. It was interesting to see a new take on the hunting humans for sport plot but with the paranormal twist -- hadn't seen that before. That was the main focus for this book, but the over arching story is about working through relationships, making the right decisions, and being a leader/mentor. Ms Battista created enough interst in the over arching story and the characters that I plan on reading the previous books of this series.

I would like to close with a thank you to the author for her generosity with offering her hard work as a giveaway for an honest review.

This series is still going strong!! Normally when you read a series, about the 3rd or 4th book things start to get redundant and boring. Like filler stories. Not this one! The way Jeanette writes Hunter Moon, you are "still" on the edge of your seat with excitement and interest. I would have thought that continuing to read about Kess would eventually get old. NOPE. Jeanette definitely does not let up on the attention grabbing ideas. And the humor is great! What she did with Rafe in this one makes you want to hear more about him. (Plus what Rafe and Finn have going on with their "gag competition", is enjoyable to say the least.) I definitely feel that there will be more with Laila as well. Ooooh definitely!!

You still have a strong connection with the characters in this installment. It's like you really know who they are and what they are going through, yet again. There is a pretty good twist she threw in this book and I cannot wait to see where it will take us in the next book. I have a strong feeling this "twist" will come back in future installments.

I definitely recommend this book. I do think you should read the other books in this series first. It's not that you won't enjoy this one without reading them first, but you will get a much better idea of what is going on in the background by doing so. Everything ties together so well. Oh and the fact that there are hardly any, IF any, grammatical errors to take you off track of reading this story!!! Kuddos for that alone!! This is one book that I actually couldn't put it down once I started reading it. So grab yourself a copy and sit back and enjoy another addition of this really intriguing story!!

Absolutely loved finished this series :)

This book wasn't as good as the others that I have read but still enjoyed it.

I'm always sad when a book ends as it feels like you've been through the turmoil with them.

It's a shame about Membis, I liked his character.

I would recommend this series :)

I hope there is another book due to how this one ended !

Thankyou

I know I gave the other books in this series 2 stars, but I just want to see how this turns out. What I didn't like about the books is how every book is from a different characters perspective. It drives me a bit crazy, but realized in the middle of book 2 I just wanted to see what happened.

This was a really enjoyable addition to the series. I did enjoy the hunter and really wondered what happened to the hunter's trophys at the end. Although things were rapped up, I wonder if the ending left things open enough for another book. Hmmmmm.
