This is exactly what it says on the tin and that's always nice. It's a about records management and about archives and it definitely no-nonsense, although a bit of humour shines through sometimes, especially when the Wilson Widget Company is used as an example. But generally the book is very straightforward and to the point. It explains records management, how to implement it if you don't have it and how to improve it if you do. It's packed with examples of how something like a retention schedule or a shared file structure might look. It always makes a point to mention that all organizations are different and you will need to build your own from scratch, but it's still very helpful to get an idea of what you would be building from scratch. It also deals quite a bit with permanent archives and records which are being kept around for historical reasons. It gives tips on how to decide on the scope of such an archive, appraisal of records and how to give access to the archive while still keeping the records secure.
All in all, I'd recommend this to anyone with an interest in archives, records management or both, especially if you're new to the field.
