First off I need to let you know I never read books like this, I live in a fantasy world, because the real world sucks. But I am really glad I did, I was very mad when they fired you. I knew something was wrong, how? Because I have been there, I am not the young sexy Nurse anymore. I am one hell of a great nurse, but I don't look good hanging off anyone. Besides that you are a great person and I am very glad I read your book. It's amazing
Julie you are the best. This book was amazing. Everyone should read it to help them be BOLD for themselves. Sure help me be BOLD with some of my medical decisions I have had to make lately.
Read this in one day! Loved her honesty and sharing tips on how to be bold that are applicable to anyone, not just those in television. Thank you Julie!
Non-fiction memoir by Julie, a good news anchor. Gave this 3 stars.
Julie was an anchor at WCPO news for 27 years. She was overlooked for promotions. And her contract was not renewed just before she turned 55. She has an age discrimination suit against her former employer. I live in Cincinnati and watched Julie for years.
Julie was born in New York and raised in Baton Rouge. She received a journalism degree from LSU. And became Miss Baton Rouge.
Julie was a people-person & good at interviews. She gave a few examples of her doing interviews on her off-time, IE a SWAT team responded to a stand-off near her daughter's school & she passed the video to the station. Once she declined to question Marcus Allen, NFL great & bestie of OJ Simpson: did Marcus have an affair w/ Nicole Brown Simpson? She especially enjoyed interviews w/ active or past military members and their families.
She did not mention her ex-husband. I wanted no 'dirt' on him. But at one point he played a big part of her life? Julie currently does a lifestyle show (and more?) on WXIX News. Julie came across as smart, optimistic and vibrant, in this book, but something felt missing.
If I could give this book more stars I would! This is a must read for everyone. I don’t want to spoil it sooooo go read it or listen on Audible. You will not regret it!
