Kiley's Storm

“Action, leavened with a generous helping of humor. A good book to warm up a winter’s day.”-Romantic Times Magazine

NEVER UNDERESTIMATE A WOMAN WITH A SHOTGUN

Daniella Storm is a force to be reckoned with. Few residents in Shady Gulch, Colorado, can stand up to the strong-willed beauty. When a gold nugget the size of a hen’s egg is found in the creek dividing Dannie’s land from her neighbor’s, the townsfolk clash over who owns the claim. That’s when Marshal Jake Kiley rides in to restore law and order--even if that means throwing Dannie’s father and trouble-making brothers in jail, and sending the most captivating woman he’s ever met into a reckless fury.

Kiley is the town marshal, and his storm, Daniella "Dannie" Storm, blows into his life like an unexpected tornado, full of whirlwind emotions, larger-than-life presence, and torrential ferocity! I loved the combination of feisty redhead Dannie and dark, masculine, often annoying Marshal Kiley--the instant attraction and irritation they feel toward each other, the sparks that fly (in more ways than one) between them, and the time it takes for these two stubborn mules to admit they're head over heels. Their relationship is tempestuous and passionate--full of anger and hunger--heat from day one! The author is artful in her use of dialog to move the story forward, and the characters come alive with their dialects, colloquialisms, and views of the world. The romantic plot pacing felt a little unbelievable at times (sometimes too fast in light of their annoyance with each other, sometimes too slow in light of their lusty urges), but I was happy to suspend disbelief because I'm a sucker for love, and I loved watching them discover each other. When Dannie and Jake found themselves alone together, there were always fireworks, and the excitement of their tumultuous emotions and their inability to resist each other was my favorite part, and kept me turning pages for more. It's hard NOT to love watching people fall in love. Not recommended for young kids due to mild language throughout and sexual situations (kissing and implied sex that isn't described). Dannie and Jake try hard to resist each other, but (thankfully) fail miserably. Never did failure produce such a sweet ending. ;)
