Teachers Discovering Computers - Integrating Technology in a Connected World - Complete (7th, 12) by Shelly, Gary B - Gunter, Glenda A - Gunter, Randolph E [Paperback (2011)]
Gary B. Shelly wrote and published his first computer education textbook in 1969. More than twenty million copies of Shelly Cashman Series textbooks have since been sold.
Gary and a talented group of contributing authors have produced books on computer programming, computer concepts, and application software that are the leading textbooks in the computer technology market today. Gary has hosted the annual Shelly Cashman Institute, a week-long training event focusing on the latest topics in technology, for the past 34 years.
Comprehensive but dull. Definitely inappropriate as a tertiary-level set text - simple-level content, badly presented, very "cluttery"... uses the excuse of "teaching teachers to teach technology" to cobble together what is basically a collection of easily-researched facts interspersed with bizarre generalisations (mostly tailored to the US high-school market, as far as I can tell) and glib, product-endorsing content that explains little more than an office supplies catalogue would. *Hideously* overpriced, and definitely neither written nor targeted well enough for the Australian B. Ed market. Not recommended.
I had to read this book for my Educational Technology class. This book helped me with my power points, quizzes, and discussions. I would say that I know more about the different tools I can do to create a fun and an exciting power point for my classroom in the future. I definitely recommend this book for those who want to know more about technology.
