Mr. X and his wife live in a sunny, exotic country. As a "secret admirer" he e-mails her sexual dares. She responds with often unexpected results, and he blogs about the results on The Sex Experiment blog: www.thesexexperiment.com. He also writes sexy books in his spare time.

I was already a big fan of Mr. X's writing having been a regular reader of his awesome blog and so I was excited to read this book by him.

I felt the beginning bit about how it ties into the blog was not needed and actually the story would have felt more believable if left to stand alone because quite frankly it is a really great story.

I loved the way it combined a mystery with erotica and a sexual journey of discovery. I think Mr. X has a real knack for writing great sex and for bringing an environment alive.

At first I wasn't sure about Katherine as the heroine, she seemed a bit perfect and saccharine but as time went on and she discovered her sexual self her determination to push on regardless was endearing.

I would say that at times it grated on the nerves slightly that everyone in the book seemed to be perfect physical specimens but then I was reminded that this was a hedonistic world of sex, orgies and dark discoveries and somehow it all fit together.

I also think that the pages taken up at the beginning with the reference to the blog would have been much better put to use at the end which felt a bit rushed, in particular the last scene which ended with a great bit unsatisfying full stop. It is good to be left wanting more but not when it is cocks, fucking and orgasms!

Overall... this a sexy, very well written, heady piece that definitely made me wet and even had my fingers slipping between my thighs at times.... and now I sooooo want a really large stone dildo!

I received this book as a promotional gift in 2012 but due to a busy schedule I never could find the time to read it.
Finally I did after months staring at me from my TBR list.
This book reminded me in many ways to the movie Emmanuelle with Sylvia Kristil in the lead.
Katharine, the main character of the book was send on a path of mystery and riddles to find her own limits in a world of sexual pleasures. Disregarding the familiar and pretenses of "normal" people, allowing her own curious nature to seduce her in the most provocative pleasures of the flesh. A journey that begins when a book was stolen from the safe at the art dealer she worked as a researcher. She was challenged to look deeper, to bury the ordinary and discover herself in a brand new way.
A path that led her on several other paths to find the one man she was dreaming about all along.
Great story, well layered, great scenes and believable characters, made this a great book that I have read.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book. The story at times seemed to wander but the intrigue was there to keep me interested. The scene with Anita was incredibly erotic and descriptive. Definitely well worth the read.

I downloaded the sample from Amazon, but gave up after a few pages. Far too descriptive, even if it may only be the opening, but I'm not taking any chances.

Good writing and plot but it petered out toward the end, turning to predictable erotica and losing the tension of lust and suspense that had been present throughout the first 2/3rds of the book.

For me, it was one of those books that stick in your mind after reading. I wasn't aware of the author prior to reading but will definitely be looking for other titles. Very well written.
