This is a terrible terrible book, plot is weak and the characters are so simple it's painful but this book will always hold a special place in my heart as it's the very first science fiction book that I ever read. Why this poor poor example to being my obsession with science fiction novels? I have no idea, I was 13 or 14 years old and the book cover appealed to me. I was reading this book at the same time that "life is a highway" by Tom Cochrane was playing constantly on the radio, so ever time I hear that song memories of this book come flooding back.
