This is very dated. When this was written, teenage pregnancy was relatively rare, and was sure to bring ruin and disgrace on the unfortunate girl. In the intervening years society has learned to cope with it and to provide services for teenage parents and allow them to continue their education. Also, churches were more ethnically homogeneous, so that mixing ethnicities in a single congregation was unusual. Today we have learned to celebrate diversity. So I would have to call this a "period piece."
