One word, Fabulous! It's a typical story about a girl (Kate) crushing over a boy (Brad) whom she first laid eyes on, but didn't realize that the better (Joe) is just right behind her. I like the reason why Joe had liked Kate, the legendary love at first sight, gosh, I don't think I'll ever get bored of any story with this concept (lecturing here?), but it's just so sweet. He had been there when she needed comforting (after Brad ditched her for Sinthia, I mean Cynthia), she is an open book wherelse he is good with his poker face. Talking about compatible, aren't magnets from different poles supposed to be attracted to one another? (Pardon the analogy, haha)
Truth about Joe is that he is this silent lover, patience and always lurking in the shadows (in a good, angellic way) and offer Kate comfort, what's not to like? Besides that, there are many relationships starting to blossom as well, Sam with Allie (sweeet), Leah and Ian etc. And Aunt Sue is a very insightful old lady, this is a story about finding and recognizing true love, adorable, got you smiling and laughing away. It was a very good reading to me:)

I had a crappy day, so I decided to relax with a book.
Unfortunately, cutesy books do not do anything to help if the MC happens to be a moron.

Reasons why KATE is a moronic dimwitted bimbo.
1)A boy's picture as your desktop background = creepy. (especially if you have only met him once)
2)The said object of obsession does not know your name even after 3 weeks, not a total catch.
3)He hooks up with someone else. 5 minutes after meeting them. Give up instead of making a idiotic plan called Operation Hook Up with Brad.
4)If a perfectly nice guy asks you out, and because you are a moron you misunderstand him and say no,you get jealous when he dances with someone else.
5)Get the not so subtle hints he drops all over the place, like building a city of snowmen with eyes that match the exact green of your eyes.
6)You go out with Brad even after all this. Develop a douchebag radar.

So these are some of the reasons Kate sucks and even though other characters were nice, Kate's dumbassery overshadowed them all.

"4.5 stars" Love on the Lifts is a sweet, young-adult romance that celebrates the wonder of first loves. High school senior, Kate, the main protagonist and first-person narrator of the story, takes her two best friends to a ski resort to stay in a condo owned by her aunt, where they are unexpectedly joined by her college freshman brother and his two friends. Needless to say everyone finds someone to romance during a fun-filled winter break.

Kate was a very likable heroine. She seemed like a pretty typical girl in her late teens. She harbors some mild self-confidence issues and teen angst. Once I realized that Kate's huge crush, Brad, her brother's roommate, is a player who can also be a bit of a jerk, it could have been easy to want Kate to just get over him and open her eyes to Joe, the other, better guy right in front of her, but in my opinion, her being stuck on Brad was never overdone. She does a great deal of thinking about whether he's really worth pursuing, as well as pondering what she really feels for Joe. In fact, I liked that Kate took the time to carefully consider a relationship and ended up making a wise and admirable choice in the end. I also couldn't help but sympathize with her conflicting feelings and confusion as I remembered the romances of my own youth. Even though the events took place pretty quickly over just a few weeks time, I liked that Kate and Joe built a friendship and got to know each other before anything of a more romantic nature took place. It was just really sweet that they came to realize how well-suited they were for each other and how much they simply enjoyed each other's company.

In addition to the romantic relationships, Love on the Lifts also had an uplifting take on the relationships between family and friends. Kate has a close bond with her aunt, with whom she has spent many a winter break, but she learns a few new things about her this trip. Kate fights with her brother, Sam, as siblings are often wont to do, but even they have a few more loving moments that come as a bit of a pleasant surprise to Kate. Her best friends, Allie and Leah, have very different personalities, but they all get along wonderfully and support each other unconditionally.

As a parent, I would say that Love on the Lifts is appropriate for the young-adult audience at which it is aimed. I counted a sum total of only three mild profanities. Not surprisingly, since the plot revolves around three guys and three girls sharing the same house without adult supervision on site, there are some implications of possible hanky-panky going on behind closed doors, but absolutely nothing explicit within the text. Even the kisses (the only thing that does take place on canvas) are pretty sweet and tender without getting too sensual. Aside from Brad, who only seems to be out for a fling, all the other relationships are rooted in loving feelings (not just sex), even though I'll admit that most of those feeling came about pretty quickly. Not to mention, all the couples plan to continue their newfound romances long-term. Because of the implied sexual content though, I would probably only recommend it for more mature teens. On the up side, I thought the book had a very good message about love being more than a surface attraction, and that one must look deeper to find something more genuine and lasting.

Love on the Lifts is a fast-paced, easy read. It was a fairly simple and predictable story, but I thoroughly enjoyed it anyway. It may have been a lighter, more upbeat novel than what I typically read, but I thought the author managed to infuse it with just enough emotion to keep it real and believable. I've previously read Rachel Hawthorne writing adult romances as Lorraine Heath, and I'd have to say this book was definitely a different style and tone from what I'm used to seeing from this author, but still enough alike that I could discern hints of her other style. It seems that no matter which name she is writing under, Ms. Hawthorne has me entranced by her story-telling skills, and I'll definitely be picking up another of her books when I'm in the mood for something a bit lighter.

This book was sweet and cute and clean - basically a generic romance for teens. It just didn't have that WOW factor. The plot line is one that's overused and Hawthorne does nothing new with it here. Girl likes Douchebag guy. Sweet guy likes girl. Girl takes awhile, but eventually realizes Douchebag guy is a douchebag and falls for the sweet guy. Happily ever after.

Kate was one of the most oblivious and idiotic romantic heroines I've ever read. She met Brad (her brother's college roommate) once and "fell in love" with him. Right from the start she can't give any reasons why she's head over heels for him except that he's hot. She even says "What else is there?" when her Aunt asks her what other reasons she has for liking Brad.

The setting for this book is a ski resort where Kate and her two friends (all high school seniors) have to share a 3-bedroom condo with her brother Sam and his two friends (Brad and Joe). Brad is the roommate that Kate has a crush on.

As soon as Brad enters the picture it's made VERY obvious that he's a complete dirtbag. One of his first lines is about how his favorite things are "driving fast and kissing babes." He hooks up another girl on the very first night of their vacation and moves in to the other girl's house for the duration. His lines are all skeevy and douchebaggy, he moved in with another girl, and Kate still thinks he's the most amazing thing since sliced bread.

Enter Joe. The other friend of her brother's. It's made VERY obvious from the start that Joe has a thing for Kate. He's super sweet, super attentive, flirtatious with her, asks her on a date, kisses her, and is generally awesome. But she is wishy washy about it for the majority of the book (gotta get conflict SOMEWHERE I suppose).

It bugs me that authors don't realize the best characters are not 100% evil or 100% good. Making Brad a complete tool and making Joe Mr. Perfect makes them BOTH boring. There was never any 'love triangle' or any reason for the reader to ever believe that Kate wouldn't come to her senses and go for Joe instead of Brad.

I had two other issues with the book.

1) Were they or weren't they all having sex? It's kind of implied that they were. ALL of them. Kate's friend Allie sleeps in the same bed as Sam. Kate's other friend Leah moves in with a ski instructor for the duration of the vacation. Brad moves in with his new girlfriend. Kate sleeps in the same bed as Joe. While there isn't any explicit mention of sex, it's kind of implied that everyone is pretty much doing it like jackrabbits and that's something that annoys me in a YA novel - especially one that is otherwise packaged as a sweet and clean romance.

2) The "Kate-have-a-good-time fund" .... DROVE ME ABSOLUTELY NUTS. How many times did this saying need to be uttered? ZERO in my opinion, but instead it's brought up OVER AND OVER AND OVER. I know it's minor, but I admit I have occasional pet peeves and this is one of them.

Overall, the book was just mediocre. I didn't hate it, but I didn't like it that much either.

Full Review on The Candid Cover

Filled with drama and humour, Love on the Lifts is the perfect book for the winter. The setting is dreamlike and the hot chocolate/book store is something that I would love to visit in real life. I found the main character to be pretty clueless, but it wasn’t so bad that I had to put the book down.

Love on the Lifts is the story of a winter vacation where things don’t go quite as planned. Kate is ready for some time with her friends, but when her brother and his friends show up unexpectedly, they have to learn to share. I enjoyed the simple drama throughout the book and the humour, such as list of rules made by the girls. This is a super quick read to curl up with this winter.

I enjoyed Kate as a character. She is reasonable and very logical. She understands that winter break won’t last long and that she shouldn’t get too attached to anyone in the town. Kate also assigns chores fairly, like the boys cleaning and the girls cooking. My one issue with Kate, however, is her cluelessness. She doesn’t notice what’s right in front of her. This isn’t just with her jerk of a crush, either. Kate is blind to what’s going on with her friends and someone who is clearly nice to her. I feel like this was too over the top and got annoying after a while.

The setting of this book is like a dream. Since it is winter break, the characters spend a lot of time outside building snowmen and skiing. My favourite location is Kate’s Aunt’s store. It is a book store, but also a hot chocolate store. That is actually goals, and I loved the descriptions of the store’s coziness and the hot chocolate making. It really got me into the spirit of Christmas.

Love on the Lifts is the perfect book for winter break. I loved the light drama and the perfect wintry setting. I did have a few issues with the main character, but they weren’t too major, and I still enjoyed the book.

The best thing about these kind of books is that it's light and quick and cute and very very sweet. It put me in the right festive mood- no matter how much I despise the cold:p

‘Love on the Lifts’ tells the story of Kate who instantly has a crush at first sight on Brad. It quickly turns into an obsession of being with him even before they’ve had any conversation. As you can guess, Kate isn’t exactly likeable. She’s boring at best, annoying at worst.

At the ski resort, Kate, her brother Sam and her two friends Allie and Leah (both are completely forgettable and I suspect they were only created to make up the numbers and to make Kate more bearable) go to a ski resort where they are also joined by Sam’s friends, Brad and Joe. Brad is obviously meant to be the good-looking, unattainable player type. Unfortunately he wasn’t convincing as one. He was just flat. Joe wasn’t any better either though he was clearly the better choice. He just didn’t seem to have much of a personality.

However, the person who lacked personality the most was Kate, hands down. I wasn’t surprised that Brad couldn’t remember her name. I found it hard to believe that Joe liked her. She was boring, insecure and pathetic, pining for Brad and all based on what? His looks. Yeah, that’s it. If he was actually funny or smart or something other than stereotypical, it would have been a little understandable. Then she starts to notice Joe and becomes irrationally jealous when he and bookstore girl Paige seem to be close. I really didn’t like how she and her friends constantly talked about getting a guy or a ski instructor (which was repeated to death). Seriously, that’s just shallow and boring.

It was unbelievable how everyone had a happy ending and found ‘true love’. It just doesn’t happen that easily and simultaneously. These couples have known each other for a short while, have no chemistry whatsoever and yet they seem to be on their way to ‘till death do us part’. If Hawthorne could write convincingly and flesh out their relationships, fine. Unfortunately that didn't happen. All of the characters and the story had no depth. Even Kate’s aunt was just there and she encouraged Kate to go after the guy she wants. Really? I don’t see the need to rush; why not just enjoy the scenery and explore the place?

Overall, I found the book to be boring and predictable. I only liked the bookshop called A Novel Place but it was only mentioned a few times and didn’t improve the story.

Not very impressed with any of rachel hawthornes books.her werewolf series was good but the other books ive read from her i haven't really liked a whole lot.
her characters come off as childish when they're in high school and yet come off as old at the same time.what with the yoga/vegetarian stuff. i mean, how many teens are like that?
i think she forgot what teens are actually like.
examples-hottie hunk.hunk.me and my buds.babes.guns-as in muscles.stud.he was to die for.
drive fast,kiss babes,ski.wicked awesome.
"We'll swap:friend for ski instructor." "that sounded fair."-how stupid is that?!
&rachel's characters always make lists and rules and always want to sign it.i mean why don't u just sign it in blood while ur at it?!
why would you want a guy who just traipsed off with this girl and stayed at her condo. you know what they were doing and it wasn't playing a game of cards.
&i doubt someone like brad would use a word like 'duration'. in fact, no one talks like that.
&how could she not realize that allie liked sam?
&kate kept sayin she was over brad and yet kept talkin about him and then pretended he was the ball in the fooseball game.i just wanted her to be done with him and actually stick with it.
its pretty darn fantastical that all three girls found guys.&why did they start sleeping with the guys?talk about moving fast! the storylines for these 'romantic comedies' are so unreal as are the characters.how many girls go on vacation to hook up with a guy?and while we're on the romantic comedy topic, how bout we get a little more romance and comedy in there?
some of the convos were just random in here.kate could be kinda rude at times.
&what was her problem with hot tubs being outside?whenever anyone mentioned it she was like ur crazy for wanting to do that.
just a lil heads up-don't be fooled by the quotes from this book that are funny.the whole book isn't like that.sometimes you'd read pages and pages before you hit another funny comment.
basically all the conversations in here between the main character and joe consisted of her asking questions, like 'what do you mean?'
-just decided to read this book again this winter. this is the third time I'm reading this, and I think it was better the third time. the best, actually. I realized that this is one of Hawthorn's better books, and one of the better books in the romantic comedy series.
Because it's so easy to read, it immediately pulls you in and has to reading to see what will happen next. I really appreciated that this book had some humor in it throughout the book, because some can be on the boring and bland side. I also really liked Joe. he was a good, decent and nice character.
however, the problems I initially had with this book were even more of a problem this time around.
I had no tolerance whatsoever for the talk about hooking up with a hot ski instructor. who thinks like these ppl do? what if he's old? who just goes on the prowl wanting to hook up on their vacations?
-if sam knew all along, since parent’s weekend, that she liked Brad, why would he say Cyn was fun.
-I must be really emotional, (I've been going through an incredibly stressful period) because I teared up about her aunt talking about Michael. I can say idt I've ever cried in a romantic comedy before..
there was some surprising language in here, like use of curse words.
the book got really sleezy and unromantic when it turned into a love shack.
I was VERY surprised when she up and says he should sleep in her bed. &then she hints at them skinny dipping. that is WAY too soon, considering you've only known him, what, a couple weeks? &that you liked his friend, the jerk for a good portion of that time. you don't know him well enough to be sleeping with him. or your friend with your brother. that's not romantic and i didn't like it at all when it turned out they had been sleeping together. SLOW DOWN, everyone!
Has he told her he loves her?! They’ve known each other for a couple weeks!
I wish authors would stop pairing up every character in the book with someone. her friend with her brother. her other friend with a random australian guy and she wants to move there. It's so completely unromantic.

I just picked this up again this past January, because I was in the mood for a winter book--not enough winter books out there! I remember just finding this ok, and having some problems with it. but for some reason, it was so much better reading it for the third time around. I realized it's actually a pretty good book, and there are some good quotes, and moments in here. And I really liked Joe!
In fact, I'm going from a 2 star rating to 3 stars!
However, the same problems I had the first couple times around were magnified.

I had no tolerance whatsoever for the talk about hooking up with a hot ski instructor. you're assuming it'll be A) a guy, B) he's young and C) he's good-looking. not to mention, who just goes on the prowl like that all the time?
-if sam knew all along, since parent’s weekend, that she liked Brad, why would he say Cyn was fun, and that she should be like her?
-I must be really emotional, because I teared up about her aunt talking about Michael.
There was some surprising language in here for a HarperTeen Rom Com.
I was absolutely appalled that everyone was sleeping together by the end! Even Joe and her!
&them skinny dipping. It took what was a sweet, innocent story, and turned it into this trashy, love shack.
Has he told her he loves her?! They’ve known each other for a couple weeks!
everyone needed to slowww down. &her friend wanting to move back there to be with this guy she barely knows? wasn't feeling that at all. it wasn't romantic. it was incredibly annoying&stupid. all characters in your book finding love is unrealistic and unnecessary.

Teenage me read Thrill Ride and fell a little in love. I remember rereading parts over and over again until I had to (regrettably) return it to the library. I picked this book up on a whim looking for wintery reads and was equal parts excited and terrified to learn it was the same author. I was afraid that this book could never live up to the magical spell Thrill Ride cast on me. Over a decade later and this one still got me. It gave me the same warm fuzzies I remember having when I was 15.

I will not lie, there is nothing grand or particularly ground breaking about this book, I just liked it. It is a true romance novel, with likable characters I was routing for, good supporting cast and just the right amount of cheesy without falling into clichés, and I think it was well written.

It is the book equivalent of eating your favourite comfort food, it is simple, unfussy and you know what to expect, but enjoying it makes you happy just the same.

Ever since I read Carribbean Curising I have been a fan of Rachel Hawthrone's work. Island Boys and Girls was great as well but her recent novels havent really been up to her standards, in my opinion. I was a bit let down when I read Snowed In and was hoping Love on the Lifts would redeem her work for me. But sadly no. The story itself was great, I enjoyed reading it for the most part. It was just a little problem with the main character, Kate. She is determined to hook up with her brothers college roommate, Brad, and I guess because of that she is completely missing whats happening around her. It was just getting way to annoying the way she couldnt see that her best friend was totally crushing on her brother or how a very nice guy, much better than Brad, was totally into her. Other than her blind factor the book is really good. I just hope her next book will surprise me with unexpected twists instead of having me say DUH through the whole thing.

I do not think I have ever rated a book one star but I'm sorry...This book was just completely disappointing. I mean, it wasn't a cozy, cute, read. It was all about girls and boys wanting to be all over each other. I almost rated it two stars because the aunt owned a bookstore, but I couldn't get myself to, I just really disliked this book.

I was not expecting this to be a teenage romance from anything about the cover or the excerpt, one of the dangers of these books that refuse to give a synopsis on the back I suppose. The whole time reading about these three high schoolers hooking up with and making life decisions revolving around adult men I was just baffled that the girls were not set to college instead so that there was not as much ick.

Outside of that, the romance and characters were bland and one dimensional, and extremely judgy. It was an incredibly quick read due to its lack of any substance at least, so that was a positive. I do have to acknowledge that I was definitely not the target audience on this, and I probably would have eaten it up when I had been around 15.

Another cute Rachel Hawthorne book!

And now we are back to snowy lands. For some reason I seem to have picked the books in order of hot (Island Girls), cold (Snowed In), warm (Boyfriend Project), hot (Caribbean Cruising) and back to this book, cold again. I only noticed when I finished the books. :D Funny coincidence.

Back to the book. This one was quite good, but I just didn't like the main character or her brother that much. The main character was ditzy, an idiot and totally oblivious to those around her. Seriously, how can she not see who Joe is hinting to, how could she not see the romance blooming between her brother and a certain person? And there are various instances. I know love makes blind, but this is a bit too much. She is blind in all places. I just wanted to shake her and shout at her. Saying things like: "Open your eyes, girl! Seriously, look at all the hints he is giving you!!!!!"
Even when events happened, she decided to ignore them and even hurt the guy on purpose. :\
I also got a bit tired of her constant bickering with her brother. I know brothers and sisters can fight, but this was just ridiculous. Can't they see they are embarrassing themselves in front of their friends?
During the part where something happened to Joe, dear Lord, that girl was annoying, if she had to help me out, I would have kicked her out of the house, even with all that is going on. I didn't like how she was thinking during that time. I can imagine she is feeling guilty, but this was just ridiculous.
I also found her infatuation with Brad to be highly silly and stupid. Even when all that stuff goes on, she still swoons a little when she sees him. *rolls eyes*
Sure, the girl had some good qualities, but you really had to get through all the poo to get there. It is also a reason why I rated the book 4 stars. This is the first time that I really don't like a main character out of Rachel Hawthorne's books (the ones I have read so far).
Also, her reasons (or should I say lack thereof) for liking Brad? It was kind of sad.

The brother, dear Lord, he was a jerk. I didn't like him at all through the book. He made his sisters life a hell.

Brad, dear Lord, from the get-go it was clear that he was just a player, didn't care about romance, just cared about getting in girl's pants.

Joe, like with all the other books, it was clear what his role was going to be. Which kind of destroyed a part of the liking I had for him. Sure, he was hot, and sure he was nice, but because he was the designated One True Love, it made him a bit less fun for me.

I liked Kate's friends. They were really nice and tried to help Kate with stuff.

The story is also all fluff and romance, and I really had fun reading about them going on the slopes, or Kate retreating to her aunt's really awesome, cute, fabulous book store/hot chocolate wonderland. The author is really good at detailing and describing stuff, so you can just imagine yourself in front of a roaring fire with marshmallows, hot chocolate and snow all around you.

Ah, something that stood out (and so far I believe all the books have it), all the characters come from Texas. I started noticing it after 2 books, and by this book I was just thinking: "Let me guess, they are from Texas?" And pin pin bingo I was right!

Even with all the stupidity, the bickering and some other stuff going on, this book was a delight to read. And I would really recommend this one.

WOW. What's a better way to start of 2013 then a good book? This book exceeded my expectations. This is definitely going on my favorite books list!

Though the synopsis is cute, it doesn't give you much of a description of the book. Basically Kate and her two friends, Allie and Leah, are going to Kate's Aunt's ski resort in Snow Angle Valley, Colorado. Little to Kate's knowledge, her annoying brother would be staying in the same house as her and her friends. But the worst part? Kate's brother, Sam, brings two friends. One of which happens to be Kate's biggest crush. While on this ski vacation, there's a lot that Kate learns. Both about herself and others.

I seriously loved Love on the Lifts. There was a good plot, good character development, and of course, cute boys! I read Love on the Lifts while it was snowing out and it was perfection at it's finest. The descriptions of the scenes really made you feel like you were there. And I seriously craved hot chocolate the whole time I was reading, so be sure to have some on hand (even if you live somewhere hot, like California)!

Kate was an easy-to-like character. She was very relatable. I think she was a really good main character. I really loved Joe. I don't want to say too much and give anything away, but he was by far my favorite. He was sweet and caring. I didn't understand why Kate didn't fall for him. But, I guess most of the time, we fall for the wrong one's at first. As it says in the book, "you have to kiss a few frogs before you get your prince."

Love on the Lifts was a fantastic winter read. If you love contemporary romances, this is for you!

If you’re looking for a cute, simple read to enjoy while cuddled up on a snowy afternoon in front of the fireplace this winter, this book is for you! I started and finished Love on the Lifts in one day and enjoyed it from start to finish. It’s a fast and fluffy read that centers around three best friends: Kate, Allie and Leah who head up to Snow Angel Valley over their winter break to spend time on the slopes and hopefully catch the eye of a few cute ski instructors! Their party plans are crushed when Kate’s brother Sam and his two friends arrive, announcing they’re joining the girls in the hillside condo as well.

Despite not wanting to spend time with her brother Sam, Kate is thrilled her brothers college roommate and her crush, Brad, is staying with them as well. Kate and her friends make it their mission to ensure Kate and Brad hookup over the break, but when Brad’s attention lands on someone who isn’t Kate, she’s crushed.

If only Kate could show as little attention to Brad as he does to her, she might realize that her prince charming was under her nose the whole time.

My suggestion is to pour a cup of hot coco (or two!) and settle in for an afternoon with Love on the Lifts. It’s a great read that will leave you smiling and wishing you had a ski lodge retreat and a cute boy to cuddle up with on a cold, blustery January day!

WHAT'S WITH THE NAME JOE?? That's two consecutive books with the swoon worthy boy being Joe. I don't mind at all. I'll take either one.

Okay so I was actually thinking of giving this book 4 stars because it's predictable, no doubt, but..

1) No matter how you you put it, I am a sucker for stories like these. First loves and happy endings.
2) The setting is so romantic with the snow and all that.
3) It being predictable was not the point. I was along for the ride. The in betweens and the happenings. How did he notice her? Why didn't she notice him at first instead of spending time getting that jerk to notice her?
4) Different moments that would lead up to those questions being answered just simply made my heart melt (yes, despite all the snow that this book has to offer).
5) The idiotic and clueless characters are so lovable. They just made my reading experience nothing but memorable. :)

Thus, the 5 stars. Why not, right?

And as Kate finally realized what she needs, she said this line that I got me all thinking..

Have you ever wanted something so badly, thought you'd die if you didn't get it, then when you finally did get it, you wondered what all the fuss was about?

so, go ahead and try this book if you are up for a light and happy read. :))

2023 review:
I wanted a ski resort-book so I decided to re-read this one. Around this time last year I re-read another wintery book that I gave 5 stars as a teen, so maybe this time of year just has me a little extra nostalgic. Regardless, Love on the lifts was a pleasant re-read that felt a little silly. Definitely my quickest read this year. Once again I will leave my five star rating from when I was a teen but know that that does NOT reflect what I thought of the book this time around. I remember I thought Joe was the most swoonworthy character ever when I read this 10 years ago whilst now, I sort of found him too aggressive. Also, I would've liked to see more bonding between the girls and less of them coupling up with the guys.

2013 review:
Love it! Although the main character Kate was a liiiittle stupid and sometimes annoying. But I love almost everything else about the book. I love the way you just get thrown in to the book right at start, I love how the book never became boring and I love Joe! All the romance addicts: this is a dangerous one!

I would recommend this book to someone who is looking for a cute, feel good, predictable, fluffy, winter teen/young adult romance read.

Love on the Lifts transports you to the beautiful mountains of Colorado at a very charming ski resort covered in fresh white snow; and I'm not talking the slushy, slippery snow, I'm talking snow angels, perfect snowballs and "let's build a snowman" snow; powdery, fluffy snow that is perfect for skiing and all winter fun.

I absolutely adored the cozy wintry setting, especially Kate's aunt's hot chocolate shop/book store “A Novel Place” that is filled with loveseats, a wood burning fireplace, endless book shelves, hundreds of hot chocolate flavours and photos of Aunt Sue's travel adventures on the walls.

Although the main character sometimes made questionable choices (though understandable-ish when reading it from the perspective of a 17 year old smitten kitten), I really enjoyed this book and would read it again during another winter season...only next time, I'd have my hot chocolate ready to go from the start ;)

This was a fun read, I enjoyed Kate’s character. She’s had a major crush on her brothers friend Brad, and is disappointed when he shows interest in someone else. Kate soon gets to know Joe, another friend of her brothers, and finds that she has a lot in common with him. I thought Joe and Kate had good chemistry, and I really enjoyed Joe’s character. Everyone kind of paired off early on and I kind of missed getting to know the other characters, especially Leah and Allie.

The only thing that bothered me was that the high school seniors were sleeping with these college guys, not sure if they were just sleeping or if more was going on, but for some reason it rubbed me the wrong way. Maybe I’m just old fashioned. The book is actually really clean, and I still really enjoyed the story. It reminded me a little of the last book I read, The Ex Games, and I think Hayden and Nick may have had a little better chemistry than Kate and Joe. Both good reads though.

i loved it couldnt put it down literally i started it at 8:30 pm got done with it at 12:30 pm.

its a story bout a girl and her friends go to spend 3 weeks at a winter resort that her aunt owns. Little did she know that her aunt also gaver the invitation to her brother and his coledge buddies. One of the college buddies is a super hottie with a killer smile that she has been crushing on since she met him, and the other well at first is to her a normal brother bud. For this high school senior to be, she finds out that that a super hottie with a killer smile wasnt what she expected or even needed. so who else could there be for her to have? maybe a hot ski instructor or maybe an unknown hottie right in her back yard....

If you want to find out you'll have to read the book. An excellant read if i do say so myself. Mix it with Some hot cocoa (lol) and a fire slace(lol and you have yourself a love filled evening.

This is a cute, quick read.

It's about three girls that are spending a school break
in the town of Snow Angel in Colorado. Where all there is, is snow, skiing
and cuddling near the fireplace.

Kate, the heroine, has had a crush on her brother's roomate
in collage ever since she saw him, and now her crush, her brother and
another of her brother's friend are coming over to spend the season
in the condo with her and her friends.

Kate is too busy droolong over Brad, her crush, to notice that the other
friend, is cuter, and nicer, and overall better than Brad, who escapes
with the voluptous neighbor as soon as he can, leaving Kate moody and depressed.

That's when she starts noticing Joe, the other friend and I think you can figure out
the rest, can't you?

I liked it, but It's not that great, you should read it if
it's the only book you broought to your grandparents ranch
in the middle of nowhere,
otherwise, you might like to try something else (:

Kate and her friends Allie and Leah head to Colorado for winter break to ski, take in the sites, and find a cute ski instructor or two. Kate's Aunt has loaned them her condo for the three week break. To Kate's surprise Sam, her broher, and his two college friends show up to use the condo as well. Kate has been crushing on Brad, Sam's roommate, for months but he doesn't know she likes him. "Love on the the Lifts" is a light romance that captures the heartbreak of a crush and the joy of something new. The story flows easity and is a quick read. Fix yourself a cup of hot cocoa, grab a blanket, and enjoy!
