When evil men prosper, will the faithful lose hope in a God who remains silent?
Julian’s surrender to the darkness has helped him in his rise to power. But when his pursuits stop lining up with the entity he serves, he realizes too late that he is no longer the one in control.
With dark forces gaining ground, Ben and Eva remain on the run and continue to be thwarted at every turn. They are desperate for direction, but when they receive no heavenly instruction, they are forced to rely on instincts they are unsure of.
After failing to stop another bombing, their hope wanes until Eva receives an offer that could put an end to the destruction and not only save countless lives, but also right the wrongs of her past. But it would mean surrendering her faith. A devastating choice that may be her last.
I loved this book and the whole series. Part of me was sad to see Ben and Eva's story end. I loved the spiritual truths woven into the storyline. Spiritual warfare was a heavy component of this book. It is difficult to say which book is my favorite in the series: the first one or this final book. Don't hesitate to read this book to finish the series or to start the whole series. The books are well worth the time.
I did receive an ARC copy of the book from the author but was not required to leave a review. The opinion and thoughts are all my own.
I'll keep this short and (somewhat?) sweet, since I'm practically repeating myself at this point as far as where these books continued to go wrong. If you're curious about my thoughts on those entries, click here for book 1, and here for book 2. To quote my own self:
"I was hoping to see at least some improvements from what the previous book delivered to me, but unfortunately, it didn't happen. Frankly, I don't see it happening even in the third book."
And it looks like I called it. There were no improvements here, not compared to the previous book, and definitely not in the entire series. Things actually got kinda worse, to the point of this story coming across as boring, clichéd, and generally uneventful (surprisingly enough, especially for a third entry). It wasn't TOTALLY devoid of angst/drama, but they are tragically few and far between.
Now look, this is no complaint about the Christian angle. I'm a Christian and despite the few cringey, corny moments, I have zero problems with Christian elements. Where my complaints continue to reside is in the writing. The lack of scenic developments and the incessant stacked dialogues with little to no description of character expressions or reactions is honestly ANNOYING.
All in all, this series was weak sauce, at least in its presentation. I still appreciated the Christian elements (still loving me some Felix), but sorry, that simply wasn't enough to earn praise from me. I couldn't quite grant the 3rd star like in entries past, sadly. This will be my last exposure to this author's work, but I commend her for maintaining boldly Christian themes.
I'll admit, some parts of this book were hard to read....but that is also what made it such an excellent read! A gripping story of good versus evil, complex and totally human "heroes", who must depend on God to see them through to victory. And....bonus, a sweet happily ever after!
I couldn't put the book down. This book had me all over with emotions but also made me look inside myself and fight the good fight Faith and trust. The author is very good at storytelling but with truth
When I started this series I wasn’t prepared for being compelled to keep turning the page time after time. Vivid depiction of the forces arrayed in the tension filled fight between good and evil and the struggle of obedience to God.
Shawna did it again. What a great series concerning the fight between good and evil. Not only here on earth but in the USA only realm also. We are so blessed to have God on our side and need to remember to rely on Him.
I really enjoyed all three of these books—engaging characters and interesting and unpredictable storylines. I kept reading into the night instead of sleeping.
It was so hard to put down. Perfect book for my vacation. Read all 3 in 5 days. So speaks of the fight of God and evil and how we need to be in a relationship with Him.
