I think the author did a really good job of capturing the herbs and the way to use them along with pictures that are really great but the reason why I gave this a 2-star is because I felt that it didn't give enough information about more herbs but perhaps that was because it was written in 1991
This book has everything I want: images of each plant, where it grows, its use throughout history (in literature as well as real life), culinary, medicinal, cosmetic and aromatherapy uses, extra things to note about each plant and where relevant - recipes. I found it an interesting read and also very practical.
Another bonus for me was that it is an Australian book, so it includes many Australian plants and talks about varieties that grow in Australia, as well as common names not just here but in other countries. This was particularly useful as my other medicinal herb books are all European and sometimes I can't access many of the plants they recommend for different things.
This book is quite big and very thorough. I'm also pleased to say it was very engaging. I highly recommend it if you're interested in herbs/plants and their uses and histories. I haven't found a better book on this topic yet.
A beautiful book that has helped me identify and understand more about what herbs to enjoy in my garden. I know I should look at it much more than I do because it really is good.
