I enjoyed this addition to the Arresting Onyx series. Shae and Trevor have a great second-chance romance that’s filled with chemistry. Shae and Trevor have a history, and it’s clear there’s unfinished business, and a lot of desire, between the two. After talking about their misunderstanding and clearing up some of the issues between them, Trevor and Shea decide to give their relationship another chance, but secrets still stand between them. It’s interesting to see how they reconnect and work towards a better relationship.
I like that protagonists from the previous books in the series have secondary roles in this story. It’s always awesome to see how the couples are doing and what’s been going on in their lives and how their relationships have progressed. I also like the themes of friendship and family in the story. Shea has a wonderfully supportive group of friends that always have her back. And Shea learns some difficult and complicated truths about her family that change everything for her. Trevor has some good friends too, and I love his family. His aunt is comical, and you can tell he comes from a tight-knit group. It’s interesting to see how her and Trevor’s lives twine together in ways they never even knew about.
The story also has danger and suspense as Trevor’s secret ties to Onyx are exposed. It seems like Onyx’s influence is far-reaching, and Trevor and Shea are in as much danger as the characters in the first three books. The story gets intense, and there are a few twists that I definitely didn’t see coming. I’ll be interested to see how these revelations affect the characters and Onyx as the series continues.

SECOND CHANCES AND RIGHTING WRONGS
The story is part of the Arresting Onyx Series by Amber Daulton but will read well as a stand-alone. The two main characters will be Shea O’Bannon and Trevor Madero. A chance meeting at a bar will have Trevor protecting Shea from Gordy. The story has secrets, mystery, suspense, life and death danger, kidnapping, murder, attempted murder, surprises, and redemption.
Shea O’Bannon works at KIKA-TV with Gordy Maher. She agrees to meet him for drinks at Frandare where Trevor Madero is playing and entertaining the patrons. It isn’t long before Shea decides she is done and tries to leave but Gordy isn’t having it. Trevor will come to her rescue and drive her home. They knew each other through mutual friends and dated for a short time, but she caught him and a woman and decided he was a player. Sometimes, what you see isn’t the whole story. Will Trevor be able to convince Shea of the truth?
The story’s plot will keep the pages turning with pieces of the past, and issues with the present. Trevor has secrets, and he needs to protect Shea from learning about them. The story has the good, the bad, and the ugly and it all collides because of Onyx. But not everything is black and white—the gray areas are what make this story. Trevor has been caught between a rock and a hard place. The demons that haunt him are the results of the sins of his father, and he has paid the price. Shea is the best thing that has ever happened to him, but he is tainted.

I'm a firm believer in second chances, so Trevor's Redemption satisfied one of my favorite tropes. We all know everyone has secrets, but Trevor’s was a shocker for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the romantic relationship between Shea O'Bannon and Trevor Madero—two very strong characters. My heart skipped a beat several times while reading this story, Trust me, their journey wasn’t easy or littered with rose petals. They had to work to overcome their obstacles, and this kept me immersed in their story.
Ms. Daulton ticked all the boxes for me: Bad boy hero, suspenseful, nail-biting twists and turns which kept me on the edge of my seat, a strong heroine, and a sexy, hot read! She caught my attention with this one line from the summary of the book: When the truth comes out and his enemies target them both, they’ll have to fight for their love, or kiss it goodbye.

This book was such a fun read! I loved the chemistry between Shea and Trevor, although I felt like she let him back into her life a little too easily (but even great characters don't always do what we wish they would!).
The story has a nice pace - it unfolds slowly enough to keep you curious and quickly enough to keep you turning the pages. I like the redemptive nature of Shea and Trevor's relationship; he's done wrong and she forgives him.
It's fun having a good villain to root against, too. :)
I recommend this book if you like spicy scenes and lots of tension.

I was in the lucky position to snag an early release of this engaging tale. Talk about a bad boy! Trevor's redemption was deep and needed. He loved the heroine from the depths of his soul. No spoilers here. You'll have to read it for yourself.

How can love survive without honesty?
Shea O’Bannon broke off a budding romance with musician Trevor Madero when she caught him in a steamy clinch with another woman, but she has never really gotten him out of her system. When she encounters him again, at a club where he’s performing, she is drawn to him more strongly than ever. Though Trevor has a reputation as a ladies’ man, he swears the scene Shea observed was not his choice, that the woman (the brassy, bossy wife of a corrupt district attorney) more or less forced herself on him. After he defends Shea against the unwelcome advances of a slimy colleague from her job, she starts to believe Trevor is sincere and lets down her guard. Both physically and emotionally, the couple seems perfectly matched, but Shea senses her lover is hiding something important.
Through no fault of his own, Trevor owes his soul to a criminal organization. He tries to assuage his conscience, delivering drugs to dealers and collecting revenues but not selling directly to users, but that’s a near-impossible line to tread. Now that he’s back together with Shea, he needs to work harder than ever to hide his illicit activities – for her own safety as well as to avoid her negative judgments. But Shea’s too smart to accept his lies. She knows only too well, from her own family history and that of her friends, how criminal associations can poison the ordinary joys of living. Cutting Trevor out of her life is the most painful thing she’s ever done, but she’s certain that if she can’t trust her lover to tell her the truth, she’s better off without him.
Trevor’s Redemption is part of Amber Daulton’s Arresting Onyx series; Onyx is a shadowy, powerful criminal syndicate that has its claws in characters in each book of the series. Though I hadn’t read the previous books, I didn’t find it difficult to follow this one, except at one point when the author pulled in all the heroines from the previous books (who are Shea’s close friends). At that point, I was deluged by references to events in the earlier installments, which I must admit didn’t make much sense.
In any case, that was a minor distraction. The main focus of Trevor’s Redemption is, as one would expect from a romance, the relationship between Shea and Trevor. Ms. Daulton does a wonderful job portraying their intense mutual attraction as well as their affection and concern for one another. Her love scenes are incendiary. The action scenes are almost as good, as Shea and Trevor each take extreme risks to protect the other.
The book offers an unexpected twist at the end which I found surprisingly satisfying. I won’t say more, except to note that this ending provides a resolution to the nearly impossible problem of Trevor’s obligations to the syndicate.
Trevor’s double life, on the other hand, seemed rather implausible from the start. I don’t think it would really be feasible for someone to work part-time as a mob enforcer and part-time doing construction – with time off to perform as a musician. The plot of Trevor’s Redemption requires that the reader believe this scenario. It took some effort for me to suspend my disbelief.
Overall, however, I enjoyed Trevor’s Redemption. Both hero and heroine are adults who understand, from experience, the complex challenges involved in a relationship. In the real world, love does not conquer all. Shea and Trevor don’t expect that their path will be smooth.
Of course this is romance, not the real world. So despite their concerns, they end up with a happy ending.

This is thirty year olds, construction worker/musician/ enforcer Trevor Madero, and television station employee Shea O’Bannon’s story line. TREVOR’S REDEMPTION can be read as a stand alone but for back story and cohesion I recommend reading the series in order. Trevor was first introduced as a secondary character in the previous story lines.
Told from dual omniscient third person perspectives (Trevor and Shea) TREVOR’S REDEMPTION follows the second chance romance and relationship between our story line couple. Several months earlier, Shea caught her boyfriend Trevor an embrace with another woman. Fast forward to present day wherein, a drink with a co-worker at a local bar, finds Shea face to face with the man who broke her heart. Enter Trevor Madero, a man with many secrets that are about to be exposed. From work place harassment and assault, to drug running, take downs and bribes, Shea will discover she has more connections to the criminal organization than she could have ever imagined. What ensues is the rebuilding romance and relationship between Shea and Trevor, and the potential fall-out as our couple become the target of a very powerful man.
The world building follows the seedier side of organized crime. The enforcement of rules, payment for protection, dysfunctional family dynamics, and the power of a brotherhood connected by secrets and crimes.
The relationship between Trevor and Shea is one of second chances. Trevor’s reputation with the women becomes an issue for our story line heroine, especially when a past ex refuses to let go but all is not as it appears to be when Trevor’s lies threaten our story line heroine. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and charismatic secondary and supporting characters, most of whom have connections to the criminal organization known as Onyx, many of whom were introduced in the previous instalments.
TREVOR’S REDEMPTION is a story of secrets and lies, power and control, betrayal and vengeance, love and loss, forgiveness and acceptance. The fast paced premise is intriguing and entertaining but reads like the final chapter in the series. The romance is seductive; the characters are determined and dynamic.
This was my introduction to, and first book in the Arresting Onyx series, therefore I felt a little lost having limited to no background knowledge of, or reference about Onyx or any of the previous story line events and characters. I had hoped for a little more background or history, especially as it pertained to the criminal organization Onyx as many of the secondary characters had direct involvement and history.

I received an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book.
To be honest, I'm not the main audience of these types of books and although I have read romance in the past, Jilly Cooper being one particular author, they are not my typical go to.
So, the usual tropes are there: Handsome bad boy, beautiful heroine who is shy, sassy, smart and red hot in the bedroom, mysterious past, a past history and a situation that brings them together etc etc. However, what Amber Daulton manages to do is bring everything together in an exciting way. Her writing is fantastic and the scenes and dialogue are well written.
The plot kicks off with the MC, Shea O'Bannon in a bar with a coworker who wants to get in her pants but is a bit too forceful about it. In the bar, her ex is singing and she longs for him. The coworker makes a move and the hero rescues our heroine. We find out that she called it off when she caught him in a compromising situation with Alyson, the wife of the D.A., who fast becomes Shea's primary antagonist. Of course, it was a misunderstanding and both Trevor and Shea start a relationship, only for things to unravel as she questions certain aspects of his life.
The bitchy Alyson was by far my favourite character, every time she appeared in the novel, I found myself grinning. She's one woman who is fun, confident, she holds herself well and doesn't seem to have a care in the world due to her husband's wealth and influence. I really liked the writing here, especially how she always manages to get under the MC's skin. I won't go into spoilers, but it was interesting to see another side of her, later in the story.
Now, for what we came for: The love scenes. There were a few and they were extremely well written. You could feel the passion between the characters and they are quite erotic. The first one is what I assume to be a typical trope: Stormy, MC is wet so needs a shower - removes her clothes and he impresses by cooking dinner. The other scenes were different, so it was not a case of rinse and repeat.
This is my first book in the Arresting Onyx, so if you are long term readers, it's good to know that characters from the previous books drop in to tie up the universe. But if you are also a first time reader, like me, then you'll be interested to know that it stands as a standalone too and it's not necessary to have read the previous books and the story is self-contained.
There was nothing I can say I disliked. The pace is excellent and when reading, I kept turning the page. The HR side plot was also interesting to me. I was expecting more drama and the resolution was surprisingly realistic, which TBH, was refreshing.
If you are lovers of romance with well written love scenes and drama, then this is the book for you. It does exactly what it says on the tin!

Now, for what we came for: The love scenes. There were a few and they were extremely well written. You could feel the passion between the characters and they are quite erotic. The first one is what I assume to be a typical trope: Stormy, MC is wet so needs a shower - removes her clothes and he impresses by cooking dinner. The other scenes were different, so it was not a case of rinse and repeat.
This is my first book in the Arresting Onyx, so if you are long term readers, it's good to know that characters from the previous books drop in to tie up the universe. But if you are also a first time reader, like me, then you'll be interested to know that it stands as a standalone too and it's not necessary to have read the previous books and the story is self-contained.
There was nothing I can say I disliked. The pace is excellent and when reading, I kept turning the page. The HR side plot was also interesting to me. I was expecting more drama and the resolution was surprisingly realistic, which TBH, was refreshing.
If you are lovers of romance with well written love scenes and drama, then this is the book for you. It does exactly what it says on the tin!

Good addition to the series
I’ve been reading and enjoying the Arresting Onyx series. This book fits right in with the themes of redemption and second chances.
Trevor’s not really a good guy. There are reasons why he joined the Onyx gang, but he’s gone along with much of the violence including being a member who collects money and enacts vengeance on those who don’t hand over the money from selling drugs. He tells himself that at least he’s not the one directly selling the drugs. That differentiation gets harder to deal with every day.
Then he meets Shea. After an initial hot affair that ended abruptly on a misunderstanding, he has another shot with her. Only his gang membership keeps getting in the way. Shea, at first, is oblivious. But she’s not naïve, and eventually she figures things out. With all her friends pairing up – with great guys including some former gang members or affiliates – she’s feeling left out. Although she tells herself she’s fine, she’s feeling out of step. Add in trouble at work, and it’s tempting to turn to Trevor and his broad shoulders.
Things come to a head and although the ending felt just a touch improbable, this is a romance and I did get my happily ever after. There’s another book in the series and I look forward to reading it.

I was fortunate to get an ARC of Trevor's Redemption. I've enjoyed all of Amber Daulton's Arresting Onyx books, but she continues to write each one better than the last. So far, this is my favorite, and I've really loved the other ones in the series!
Shae has her doubts about dating Trevor again, even after she learns that she was wrong about him cheating on her when she first dated him. Shae's strong character comes through as she fights off men at the workplace and in the dating world with Trevor. Hiding a difficult past, bad-bay Trevor is enamored with Shae, trying to protect her from his criminal job and afraid to lose her because of the dangers associated with his work. I loved both characters and they are perfect for each other. I also like how Daulton brings back the characters from her other books so I can rest knowing they are doing fine. It says something when an author can affect a reader in that way. Her writing style is wonderful. She mixes in a steamy romance to an intriguing world she's built for the series.

This story is set in the Onyx 'universe' where seemingly ordinary people are not quite what they seem. Not knowing the other characters didn't impact my read at all as it flows seamlessly into place and stands alone. It's a steamy mafia romance at its core, but what makes it interesting is the presentation of other themes, such as workplace assault and the shame that can arise from that, and the angst of duplicity which comes from leading a shadier life (Trevor!). I thought these were well handled and really felt for the characters going through these experiences.
The steamy scenes are well done, appropriately spicy and overall, very enjoyable! My only quibble is that the main characters dated for only a fortnight, some time before this book is set, and yet the strength of their feelings seems to be quite intense from the off. It didn't quite feel plausible to me, but, I'm not a usual reader of romance/second chance romance books so I have little to compare it to.

Thoughts: Wow. This story has it all - heat, danger, suspense, and more. In this addition to the Arresting Onyx series, Shae and Trevor have to clear up previous misunderstandings. But the heat between them is obvious. They care for each other, but need to deal with issues not just from their pasts, but Trevor’s ties to Onyx. I loved Trevor’s aunt and Shea has a great group at her back so they both have support, but there’s a lot to overcome.
Recommendation: recommended - and also suggest you read the other books in the series to get the whole story. If you like your stories hot and the relationship that works, pick this series up.

I am really enjoying the captivating characters and intense romantic suspense storylines in the Arresting Onyx series! When Shea spots her hot musician ex playing in a bar, her first impulse is to walk away. Trevor cheated on her and no way is she giving him a second chance. But after he defends her from a creep, he begs her for a second chance… and tells her that things back then weren’t what they seemed.
One thing I love about Amber Daulton’s books is the way the pacing is always tight and between the suspense plotline with the Onyx drug gangs and the heat sizzling between the main couple, I’m always eagerly turning pages! Shea and Trevor both have some interesting personal history when it comes to Onyx and I love the way that as we read more, we discover more about their pasts. This was a really good one, and I was cheering for these two, and can’t wait to see which couple is up next! 5/5 stars.

This is about Shea O’Bannon and Trevor Madero. They had dated briefly in the past but ended things abruptly. A few months later they met again, cleared the misunderstanding, and decided to give it another chance. Unfortunately, the secrets Trevor kept would soon come back to haunt them both. Could Shea be with a man like Trevor?
It's a great story filled with romance and suspense. It's mostly focused on the romantic relationship between Shea and Trevor but also on his "job". There were situations that happened in their everyday life that showed a lot about their character. Their intimate scenes were my favorites but I enjoyed drunk Shea as well, she was a delight. The ending part was quite emotional for me.
If you love this genre then I highly recommend it. I will rate it with 4 stars.

Shea who was broken up with two timing musician Trevor was out with her co worker Gorgy. That’s when Shea saw him again, Trevor was on stage serenading all the groupies. How could she have fallen for a musician and why was she at this bar with her slimy coworker. After Gordy got a little too close for comfort at the end of the night Trevor rescued her from Gordy. While he saved her from Gordy could Trevor save her from himself and his secrets. He wanted her so bad but his past choices could keep them apart forever.
A great read from Amber Daulton. I have read these books in order and love that the author adds past characters and we get a glimpse into their futures. While I recommend reading in order you can read as a stand alone and still enjoy the book.

I loved this story, the characters and the steamy scenes. Shea falls for Trevor and he seems to be the one, protective of her, loving, and great in bed. Everything is fine, sort of, as Shea has this feeling that something is off, until she reads a text message she is not supposed to and finally confronts him about her suspicions. Now that she knows everything, she can make an informed decision whether to be with him. I loved that Shea made the right decision but turned out to be happy anyhow; and I was somewhat annoyed that Trevor was pushing her to stay with him. In my opinion if you truly want someone you would want them to be safe and happy over and above to be with you.
The ending weaved many characters into the same story. In the last couple of scenes, it got very very emotional and I almost started to cry.

Arresting Onyx: Trevor’s Redemption by Amber Daulton is book 3.5 in the Arresting Onyx series. Having read the earlier books by this talented author, I couldn’t wait for her latest novel to hit the shelves. I wasn’t disappointed.
The action begins from the first page as the author takes us on a wild ride along with Shea O’Bannon, a good girl who always follows the rules, and her undeniable attraction to bad boy Trevor Madero, a man she’s previously dated, but ended the relationship because she couldn’t trust him. Their tumultuous love story is set amidst the raw violence of a powerful urban gang. With its truly satisfying ending, I highly recommend Trevor’s Redemption and once again, wait for the next book in this riveting series.

This was a difficult review to write. The "hero" is basically a good person, who through circumstances created by others, does not do very good things. There is a lot of thinking provoked by this story. What would you do in this situation? Does Shea make the right choice? What you don't realize until much later in the book, is that Shea has to make the same decision her mother had to make years before. It is a book with great characters, who have difficult choices to make and can they live with the consequences of those choices. But don't be fooled, there is an abundance of love in this story and a true HEA.

This book starts us off with Shea meeting a slimy co-worker for drinks, and in the meantime, sees her ex cheating boyfriend on stage. After ditching the slimeball, he tries to take advantage of her outside the club, and her ex, Trevor, comes to the rescue. There is still a lot of attraction between Trevor and Shea, and a lot of secrets. Trevor is going to have to come clean, and it will be up to Shea and how much she will be able to deal with about Trevor’s life.
This is a nicely paced story, with a second chance romance. I think that Trevor could have been a stronger character but the story and plot really get moving after the halfway point. Even though this book is part of a series, I had no issues keeping up with it.

With wit and honesty, Ms. Daulton has written two very strong characters – Trevor and Shea – in this suspenseful, realistic romance. My heart was on the edge of a cliff through most of this book. The external conflict keeping Trevor and Shea apart is quite insurmountable. I had no idea how they were going to get around it. Shea is such a strong character, and I wasn’t surprised by the decision she made. But, my goodness, did my heart break for them! Of course, things do take a turn for the better, but until they did, I was in agony. Ms. Daulton has created a wonderful cast of characters trapped in quite the unforgiving and unfortunate circumstances. I couldn’t put this romance down!

Shea and Trevor have unfinished business , he wants to protect her from his secret criminal activities but when it comes out they both become targets from his enemies. She has some family secrets revealed too. Can they both get through with support from friends and family and live the life they were meant to have before misunderstandings broke them apart .steamy , tense, suspenseful and angsty romance written extremely well . A compelling experience.

I enjoyed reading this second chance romance. I realised it was part of a series early in but, even though there were clearly characters with some back stories involved, it didn’t detract from Trevor and Shea’s story. I was involved with the characters and rooted for both their predicaments to be solved. Though it felt like a familiar story along a well trodden path, the writer dealt with a tricky situation with a lovely plot twist. Wether it will be a happy every after? You’ll have to read it to find out!

The undeniable chemistry between Shea and Trevor leaps off the pages. The plot is a tantalizing blend of heat, danger, and suspense, and will certainly entertain readers.
Maybe it’s the author’s unique writing style. The author seems to have the inclination to use the word “but” (numerous instances of "but" throughout the pages, with Page 134 alone containing eight occurrences).

I was lucky enough to snag an advanced copy of this book. Here are my thoughts:
Two things Shea O’Bannon can’t stand are danger and lies. Her girlfriends are all married or pair off with great guys. But she isn’t about to try dating again especially after she sees her two-timing ex Trevor Madero singing in a bar to a mostly female audience.
She discovers that things are not always as they seem. Against the advice of her best friends, she gives Trevor a second chance.
Trevor never stopped trying to figure out how to woo Shea back to him. When he sees her at the nightclub, he tracks her down and eventually explains what really happened the night they broke up. But he can’t reveal his secret life without losing her. So the lies pile up until the unthinkable happens.
