The Fundamentals of Interior Design provides a thorough introduction to the key elements of interior design and the ideas that underpin them. The book describes the entirety of the creative process, from researching initial ideas to realizing them in three-dimensional form.Throughout the text, guidelines are given to provide structure and the reader is encouraged to adapt and initiate methodologies to suit individual project needs. This approach is intended to give designers a belief in their own abilities, and the confidence to tackle different projects with the unique challenges that each one brings.
brilliant! this book explains interior design and interior architecture in a very coherent way. many good examples and interviews with great designers are included, and I really liked the illustrations.
This is by far the best interior design text I have read so far, and has taught me more than my studies alone. You t covers the design process in a human way, rather than the usual mechanical way, explaining why you are doing something and what can be gained from it. It compares methods, provokes thought, and generates inspiration. Chapters include sustainability, and human factors. It really does cover everything!
The first book I have read was The Fundamentals of Interior Design by S. Dodsworth and it's a brilliant read. His wealth of knowledge helped me start my own design business 15 years ago: https://www.Tallboxdesign.com If you are into starting interior design, this is a must!
