I can’t say I loved reading this book - non-fiction can be fun to read but this wasn’t. However, it is full of really useful information. It’s a bit of a brain dump, and I would prefer it if it had easy chapter summaries. Instead I’ve had to add lots of bookmarks. All in, a useful book but I did feel I was ploughing through whilst reading it.
This book offers a basic high level overview of social media marketing, but it also offers great creative suggestions that one can build off of. Also includes extra online content and in-depth articles.
While many of these strategies can seem intuitive or are available online, reading through his comprehensive guide was extremely helpful in cementing my social media knowledge. I was also able to expand and learn a bit more about Instagram, Youtube and Pinterest, which I have only dabbled in.
If you are new to social media, or even if you're approaching 3-4 years, this can still be a useful and affordable guide.
One of the worst books I've picked up. I feel like he hired a content scraper on Fiverr to "find" 500 social media tips. I'd say 475/500 were such insanely self evident tips anybody in social media for over a month would find minimal to no value in them.
Some good basics, but if you're only using a couple of platforms (as is advised, even by this very book) the majority is skippable - thank god, because it's honestly such a boring subject.
I really enjoyed this book! In my opinion as a digital marketer, it is one of the most comprehensive and helpful books on the market about social media that simply breaks down what’s needed for each platform.
The two reasons I didn’t give it 5 stars is because 1) there were SO MANY typos. And 2) This books is now 4 years old, which for social media, is already outdated (which of course will happen in a physical book about social media, so no fault to the author). I’d love to see an updated version! Even so, I’d say about 80% of the information in this book is still relevant.
Very outdated by this point (includes tips for Google+ and Vine which no longer exist). The book provides some general insight into best social media practices however due to shifting algorithms and the changing nature of social media platforms a lot of the advice should be taken with a grain of salt.
The book is a little outdated, Vine for example, doesn’t exist anymore. Added that some of the tips written in this book are just general knowledge for gen z. Now don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed this book. As a creative business student (a study that is also highly focused on marketing) it was interesting to read about all of the different social media platforms and easy memorable tips on how to utilize them to the best of your ability. For platforms that I’m not as familiar with like Facebook, I would definitely go back to this book and read some of these tips. Anyways, if you are looking for a short and easily understandable book about social media marketing, this is just right for you.
Very well written book. Outlining principles to social media marketing, in order to drive traffic. It gives the breakdown for specialized advice for each popular social media marketing platform. I think it is a very welcomed book, and I will probably refer to this book for awhile. Even while social media algorithms change, there are certain principles which remain the same, I believe this book does a good rundown of what those essential elements are and gives good advice to adapt to each platform.

I happened to stumble upon on this book on kindle and I most say after reading one chapter I was hooked. I was looking for tips on how to improve my LinkedIn branding and audience reaching. I must say they were some very eye catching tips that I utilised during the few days of reading and it worked!!!! There are other sections for other social media - YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and etc. FYI, I noticed the writer updates this book frequently so I was quite satisfied seeing some advices on TiTok.
This book offers a high-level knowledge about the social media in general and about each platform specifically. It is well organized, and straight to the point. It not only offers solutions but also links to softwares and tutorials (free and paid) that help you hit your target!! In my case, I only use Instagram so i could easily just skip the chapters of the other platforms and jump to Instagram to learn more about it. SUPER BIG LIKE!
I enjoyed reading this and it was very informative. It's concise, quality information and I appreciate the authors writing style. It's difficult to write about topics like this and not come across as dry or cheesy. The authors style is informative and easy to read without any sort of talking down to the reader and no hard selling. I highly recommend this as a resource for new business owners.
Most social media experts just tout their own theories or tell what worked for them. This book explains how to navigate each social media platform along with the best practices for each of them. It's solid advice for an often confusing and ever-changing landscape. This is my new handbook for social media. My only complaint is the title doesn't really describe how in depth the contents are.
This was a great book to read. I tell you the basics and also some advance stuff. I knew most of the stuff but I have been in the social media market for a few years now. This book is brilliant if you are just starting to learn and you will gain so much knowledge. There where some things I did learn and I loved the links to other great website and tools that I found very useful. 4/5
I found this to be quite informative with some handy tips that I had already known about but long forgot! I’d recommend it for anyone who uses social media for advertising / promotion and for those who have some level of understanding but who may need some guidance.
Although the book is almost ten years old, this book still has some good information it it and most of it still works. Eventhough many social media networks have changed you can still apply it to today.
Just use it in addition to your social media marketing and you will be surprised how this book can help you. If you only use twitter just write down all the tips on twitter and you are all set.

Skimmed through the book. I love the structure and will definitely follow this author.
However, I don’t find this particular book useful for me: - It’s pretty basic, covering beginner-level social media usage aimed at novices - It’s outdated: Google Plus has been shut down, and the Twitter interface has changed too much, etc
I really enjoyed this book, I found it informative, in depth but easy to read. I’ve highlighted lots of parts of the book and am going to recommend it to my facebook group!

This is a great book if you are just starting out in the field of social media marketing. If you are a beginner then this book will give you advice as well as action items to complete the basics on the profiles and getting started with it.
