This book traces the history of the Avebury stone circle and its surrounding landscape. Covering a period of around 12,000 years, it is a comprehensive examination of the area, as well as the people who have moved through it, from the mesolithic to the late medieval period.
This can be a bit heavy-going at times. Explores how the landscape of Avebury has been influenced by successive generations. Joshua Pollard looks at pre-Roman days and Andrew Reynolds the last 1500 years or so. Very rigorous, but not for the casual reader.
