Written by students, for students, Law School Confidential has been the “must-have” guide for anyone thinking about, applying to, or attending law school for more than a decade. And now, in this newly revised third edition, it’s more valuable than ever.
As a first generation law student that didn’t have anyone to turn to about law school expectations, this book helped me understand law school before the first day. It helped me understand that formatting of classes and how to study. I love that it walks you through each year of school.
I just finished my first semester of law school and I finished this book in the summer. The tone of the author my push you away from law school or make you disheartened by the timelines on when to do things for your career… don’t get disheartened! Use this book as a guide, especially if you have no one to turn to about law school advice, but don’t be worried if your law school path does not mirror this book. It’s a helpful resource, but remember that each lived experience is different.
I have a feeling that I will be continuously referencing this book as I go through law school. I was surprised by all of the tips it included about recruitment and internships, as well as bar exam preparation. Some of the studying and briefing methods I read about conflicted with what Getting To Maybe suggested, so I will have to ask real law school students what helped them succeed most. Anticipating that this will prove yo be helpful.
this thing is so bible im obsessed. great insight on my law school aspirations and doesn’t sugarcoat it, which is exactly what i needed to read; a raw, real look at what id be signing up for. time to start making some decisions now. we will see!
I think this had some decent advice, particularly related to big law recruiting and how to handle 1L course outlines. A fair amount of advice is outdated in the tech era so excited to read the 4th edition.
A tremendous introduction to law school for any student who is considering law as a career. It is humorous, informative, honest, and exhibits all of the humility required in the profession of law.
