My first bathroom reader was a gift -- I am a National Parks fan. The combo of short "stories," fun facts, etc. was fascinating. Highly recommended for other fans of the US and Canadian National Parks Systems. I took this on a vacation through the Utah National Parks and it was a great companion for the sights and experiences.

“Uncle John’s Bathroom Reader Plunges into National Parks” by The Bathroom Readers Institute, published by Portable Press.

Category – History/National Parks Publication Date – February, 12, 2007

The good thing about this book is that it will never be dates due to its subject matter. It is still as good today as it was when it was written in 2007.

The majority of the Bathroom Readers deal with trivia and humorous items; however, in this edition the writers have put together a book that gives a history of the National Parks in the United States and Canada. They not only give a history of the Parks but inform the reader about the best places to go and how to get the most out of your trip.

The book does add a little humor when they inform the reader of a phone booth in the middle of the Mojave Desert, the stupid questions asked of the Park Rangers, and how a Ranger was hit by lightning seven times and survived.

A short history is given of each park that should wet the reader’s appetite just enough to give one the desire to go see for yourself.

A worthwhile read even if you are not interested in visiting the National Parks as the evolution of the Parks is both interesting and informative.

Somehow not as compelling as the other book. Both get books are great to have in the right room, but maybe because it is focused on one subject, so Uncle John doesn't have the freedom to really find the weird and wacky.
