Uncovering corruption within his own department, FBI agent Ian Mulherin watches the lines of justice blur as he finds himself in the middle of greed, betrayal, and double-agents tied to the Mafia. Realizing he is being framed, he must now protect Nicole, the innocent woman marked to be his victim, as feelings between the two of them begin to blossom. While the conspiracy tightens around Ian, he frantically races to clear his name, bring down the perpetrators, and protect the woman who has captured his heart.
From the opening page of A Captive Heart, Sherry Foley had me on the edge of my seat fully vested in this romantic suspense. I cared about the heroine, Nicole, immediately and simply had to know what would become of her. Only moments after meeting Ian, I was intrigued by his dilemma and wondering how this exciting tale would unfold. Ms. Foley’s vivid, flowing words painted a picture in my mind so clear I was thinking about the characters when I was away from the story and anxious to get back to them. The escalating danger and the chemistry between Nicole and Ian had me turning the pages faster than normal...I read the novel within a few days, which is something that rarely happens with little ones at home! I can’t wait to read the rest of the Capture Series to see what Ms. Foley has in store for us. I hadn’t read her previous work, but I plan to now, as I am unquestionably a fan of author Sherry Foley.
Summary A Captive Heart tells the story of FBI agent Ian Mulherin, a man who has been walking a thin and dangerous line between the orders of his superiors, and what he knows justice to be. He knows in his heart that those around him are corrupted by greed and a lust for power- he’s just not sure how deep and how far it goes. So, when he is ordered by a superior to take care of a little “problem” in the form of a young girl with luscious dark brown eyes- well he sees his chance to set up and possibly snare the biggest fox of them all. But when he realizes that his supposed victim is a truly innocent young lady by the name of Nicole, the two of them team up to discover why so many people want her dead, and how it ties into Ian’s past. Things heat up both in passion and danger as Ian and Nicole are forced to go on the run together, and climax when Nicole is kidnapped. Then it’s a race against time for Ian to save the woman he loves.
Overall Impression
As suspenseful romances go, A Captive Heart is pretty par for the course. There’s the formulaic tension of two yet-to-be lovers, there’s the charming “ladies man” side kick that turns out to have a heart of gold, and there is even the estranged parent who by the end of the book tries to make good with his son, simply because he has found a “good woman”. Finally, there is the required angst of the main male character as he wrestles with the idea that a “bad boy” like him doesn’t deserve a “good girl” like her. It’s pretty standard fare, good for an afternoon read on the porch.
While the book does contain a lot of formulaic and clichéd plot points it is still well written. The scenes flow together naturally, and the chemistry between the main characters did bring a smile to my face. It’s also nice to see a female main character that has a good head on her shoulders.
If you’re looking for an easy, relaxing Sunday read, this is a good choice. It’s a nice break from the everyday, and just might give you something to dream about.

Ian Mulherin is playing a dangerous game when he decides to uncover the corruption in his department at the FBI. When he unwittingly draws Nicole into the treacherous web, he knows he has to protect this innocent woman. But he didn't plan on losing his heart.
Nicole, a normal teacher with a normal life, enters Ian's world where nothing is what it seems and everyone's a suspect. As she peels back the layers of Ian's complicated personality, she finds not only her life is in danger, but her heart as well.
Ms. Foley grabs you by the throat from page one and doesn't let go. Loved this book. Had me turning the pages late into the night. It's a well-written, tense thriller mixed with a delicious romance that thoroughly satisfied this reader.
Standard on the run romantic suspense containing all the usual elements: hero and heroine must share a hotel room, hero doesn't know who to trust, big whiz bang ending with lots of action, nice mildly tortured hero, sensible heroine with some kick a$$ surprises. Nothing new, if you like that formula and I really do! it's a nice way to spend a couple hours and I look forward to the others in this series.
I read this authors other book and liked it enough to look her up again. I was excited to see a new release by her. While I really liked the other book, I loved this book. It has a great storyline and the couple have a lot of chemistry and fun banter. I'm looking forward to the next story in this series.
I entered this giveaway for a captive heart on goodreads and boy am I sure glad I did. I won the autographed book with the matching book mark even :)This is a great suspense love story. It keeps you wanting to read from the very first page. Not a lot of books can do that. I loved it so much I even looked into other books sherry has written. Can't wait for Brian's story to come out in may!
Sherry Foley does it again!! With all the romance and suspense of a Lifetime movie, A Captive Heart is sure to please both your romantic and thriller needs in reading.
