This is the riveting true story of a young schoolteacher and her courageous quest to know God’s will for her life. In Lydia Prince’s search for God and her life’s purpose, she is led to Jerusalem, where she learns the power of prayer and experiences many miracles of provision and protection.
Lydia rescues a dying baby girl and then miraculously survives many dangers, including gunfire, siege, and barricades. She enters into her true appointment from God and, in the process, rescues scores of abandoned sick and orphaned children from disease and death.
Follow Lydia’s astounding journey and see how you, too,
Discover how God can remarkably use those who trust Him!

This book is simply exceptional in every way - from the courageous acts of faith exemplified by Lydia to the ever-growing - step by step building of how God's principles work in our lives , again as illustrated through Lydia's life and journey. Her journey really - is all of our journeys - and this book helps as a personal guide for all of us in a very down to earth and practical way. I loved it and I did not want it to ever end. But one thing is for sure, I will never forget her story.
Captivating memoir! The only reason why I didn’t give this five stars is because I was disappointed they didn’t go even farther into Lydia’s story—I wanted more!
Absolutely awesome book!! What a miraculous, inspiring testimony 👏🏾
This book was absolutely, wonderfully inspiring and encouraging. I found myself jealous of Miss Christensen's courage and faithful resolve to obey God and to abide in His Will. I covetted her supernatural revelation of Jesus in her living room crouched at her green velvet prayer chair. I envied her blessing to speak in tongues and the spiritual intimacy in prayer that was given her because of this blessing. I compared my own walk with God to her experience and repented of my envy in prayer to God because while my experience is different, I am loved no less, and I am blessed to serve in the way that God leads me. Ultimately, her testimony has been profoundly inspiring and encouraging to me. I was guided in the Spirit to learn about her on the internet. I found an article and in the article, I learned about this book. I thank God for guiding me to her book as I found it on the first day of my fast. I had left the organization of the details of my time spent during my fast to God and within just a few hours, I was reading her book. I have finished reading the book on day 2 of my fast. I read it in just a couple days. What an absolute blessing. Highly recommend. ❤️🙏🏾🙌🏾
This is one of the most amazing and inspiring books I've ever read. As long as I have been a Christian, I had never heard of Derek and Lydia Prince. I was captivated by the comparison of her life as a successful, respected teacher and agnostic in Denmark who discovered the reality of God and the Holy Spirit. Her life was transformed and she moved to Israel at God's leading and took in children--Palestinians, Jews, etc and lived a life of godly service. Along the journey she married Derek Prince, a true brilliant man of God, twenty-five years. younger than Lydia and they lived shared their lives and ministries for twenty-five years until her death. I thank God for this couple.
This book is what convinced me to begin to consider becoming a foster parent. I had nothing but God and I figured if Lydia could do it with nothing, I could. It has been a hard road but I have three beautiful boys and two grandchildren as a result of following God’s will. I just finished this book again for the 5th time because I know God has more for me to do but I don’t know what. I pray and seek His Word and when I need an extra push, I read this book again.
I chose to give this book a 5 star rating because it was so beautiful written , the love of the homeland Jerusalem and all Gods children so wonderful told by the author , Derek, and Lydia. The Prince's books are all spirit written books that come alive to help people in any generation in there time of need, I believe ordained by God for that time , to minister to all . appointment in Jerusalem has many spirit filled encounters. A very good read
I really enjoyed Lydia's story. I was attracted to this book because it was set in Palestine and my husband is Palestinian. I think I was expecting a different story. I love how how she became mother to so many children. She obviously was a wonderful human being. I don't necessarily think it needed all the bible thumping but that's just me. It was obviously her life.
This is a wonderfully encouraging, faith building story of an amazing woman, who in absolute trust, surrendered her life to Jesus. She followed the leading of the Holy Spirit, built a truly intimate relationship with Him, and lived out His will being done through her in the most incredible ways. Regardless of faith, I’d whole heatedly recommend this book to anyone.
I didn’t want to put this book down until I’d finished it! A true 5 star read!

Deeply touching, spiritually moving, showered upon by the Divine. At times I felt pulled into the story as if it were I in her shoes, albeit, Lydia had far more courage than I could imagine myself able to muster were I actually in her shoes. Bravo Lydia and Praise God for His divine plan.
Appointment in Jerusalem edified by soul and strengthened my belief in the power of prayer. Even if you have a theology different than the author and despite the misinterpretations of scripture and misunderstanding of how to know the will of God by Lydia, Lydia’s faith and devotion to God and the many answers to prayer recorded in this book will be a blessing to any reader.
Im looking for an amazing faith testimony and this book provided that. Such a beautiful life, beautiful faith, beautiful spirit. Thank you Lord for Lydia and her wonderful journey on earth
This is one of my all time favorite books! Amazing story of the faith & determination of a woman to know God and follow where he leads... at all costs. What’s even more inspirational is the time period this takes place in— nobody opened doors to her but the Lord as she trusted Him enough to follow.
this book was short and easy to read and I absolutely LOVED it. Lydia's story showed true trust and dependence that I would love to have. The book also has made me curious about the plan for Jerusalem and it's importance in history and the future.
This book deeply inspired me in my pursuit for my appointment. The Holy Spirit led me to it one night while I was questioning God about a place He has required me to go. Well this book was all it took to seal the deal!
A beautiful story indeed. This is not a love story how Lydia met Derek, but long before that. A story of calling, a story of God's providence, and how should we live our life.
I started reading this book at my sister's place, I had to leave it behind because my brother-in-law (who bought it) had yet to read it. Hence I had to come to goodreads.

This book made me grow so much closer to the Lord. It made me step up in prayer! 🙏 I can’t say much about the book, because it’s Lydia’s life story. So beautiful how she gave her life to the Lord, she trusted Him in every aspect in her life. She turned to prayer as a normal response to everything that happened. 🫶💕
This book deserves so much more than just 5🌟 I really recommend it to my Christian girlies out there who love reading. 🙏
Also this book ment even a little more to me. My mom gave it to me, at first I thought that the pages which kept falling out were really annoying, but the more I kept on reading, the more I understood why the book was so worn out. This book was my moms favourite and she knew I was going to love it as much as she did, also at some point it just gave that little extra to the story of the book. Old worn out book about a story from an old worn out time. 🫶
So I’m obligated to buy it in English as well now, read it in Dutch. (Ontmoeting in Jeruzalem.) 🤭
I have read many of Derek's books over the years but never knew anything about his first wife Lydia. She was a thoroughly unique individual and I enjoyed getting to know her and learn about her miraculous journey to Jerusalem through the pages of this book. I was convicted in every chapter by her unwavering faith and commitment to prayer. She believed in the miraculous and miracles happened when she prayed. What a testimony to the faithfulness of God to those who place their lives in His hands and obey His voice.
