I get asked a lot about book recommendations with characters that are older and more mature. Entrusted is a great adult novel that has heart to it. I think readers will appreciate the story of Anna and those who are religious will appreciate the power of prayer and God’s word.

I really love how Entrusted was written, it starts off when Anna at the age of 19 discovering she is pregnant with her boyfriend’s baby. Mike & Anna are in love and decide to get married and live happily ever after. Things do not exactly work like that and Mike & Anna divorce. Anna now has a two year-old raising their son, Justin on her own living in Michigan moving away from Maine.

Time goes by quickly but it works well for the story. Anna put her life on hold, never dating, only working & raising Justin to give her son the life he deserves as best as she could. Anna is struggling, trying to raise a teenage son, seeing her ex-husband move on with his life, and watching her life pass her by. As I read I just felt sad for Anna, she really did not have a life and her son was having trouble trying to identify who he is and his future.

Entrusted is a good story, I love reading adult reads and this is definitely that. I am not a big religious person and though there is talk of God and religion I did not find it over the top. There were times I found the timeline a bit confusing… one scene Justin would be four, then he was about 10-12 years-old? I am not sure because it never said his age and then next thing I know he is 18 and leaves to take off to join the military without telling his mother. I wish the timeline was a bit clearer for the reader.

The ending was incredibly sad and I was not expecting the events. I maybe not religious but I do believe in the power of fate. The characters and story were very real and that was my favorite thing about Entrusted.

I give Entrusted 3.5 Stars

I was lucky to get a copy from the author Sherry Rummler.{not a goodreads giveaway} I give this a *4* Meaning I really liked this book.
"he is not yours he's mine"these were the words Anna Bertran heard God whisper to her in the book "Entrusted"
Anna Bertran was only 19 when she discovered she was pregnant. This was not a planned pregnancy. She married Mike, the father of the baby. She gives birth to a boy and names him Justin.Within a year the marriage falls apart. Homeless and afraid, Anna seeks help at a church. The church offers her comfort and helps her find a home.By the time Justin is two Anna is working for a dentist.Anna if offered to continue working for this dentist but must move from Maine to Minnesota where the dentist is moving his practice.Anna agrees to move and start a new life.
One thing that keeps Anna going is her faith in God.She finds certain Bible quotes soothing.Anna raises Justin to have faith as well. She has a wonderful relationship with Justin. When Justin turns 16 he begins to push away from Anna. He becomes more defiant and resistant, breaking Anna' heart. At 18 Justin drops out of Anna' life. She cannot find a way to connect with him.
A couple years later Anna has a chance meeting while vacationing in Maine. She meets a soldier on a beach. After he leaves she finds a small bible in the sand. Inside is a picture of the soldier and she is shocked to see that her son Justin is in the picture with the soldier.Anna must try and find the soldier again. He may be able to help her find out what happened to her son.

I found this book very touching. I liked the relationship between Anna and Justin. I liked the religious lessons Anna learned in this book, how certain bible quotes kept Anna going. The faith in God that both Anna and Justin had.I loved the reminder that a child is "Entrusted to you by God. A very good read.

This is an amazingly well written story. Throughout, the author covers a large span of time with this novel, but nothing ever seems rushed or missing. This is a very detailed story that the reader floats through without confusion and with a sense of time flying, as it does when your only child grows up. It comes to a bittersweet conclusion that simultaneously makes you smile and brings you to tears.

Rummler draws you right in with the characters that she creates for this work. I appreciate that each character says true to their speech patterns throughout the novel. I enjoy that each character stays true to the regional dialect from their home town, thus giving each character a unique way of speaking. Also, through the solid belief systems of these wonderful characters the story becomes very religiously based. You get so involved in their lives that you can’t help but feel for these phenomenal characters.

Overall, this was a quick but enjoyable read. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this author and her characters.

Please note that I received this novel free of charge from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I won this book from a giveaway and have spoken with the author through out my reading process. I haven't been as emotionally invested in a character in such a long time. The last few pages made me cry, I won't lie. This woman's journey from a scared young girl that gets pregnant unexpectedly to a strong woman who FINALLY gets a definite peace in her life is very inspiring. This story is brutally honest and relays a message of hope in times of fear, despair, loneliness and frustration. I love stories that bring spiritual aspects into the light without being preachy. This was just such a sweet story all around. The author is a precious woman as well and I can't WAIT to read more of her work in the future.

My Review:

Nineteen-year-old Anna was in the bathroom with her best friend Jessica at her house. Anna had just taken a pregnancy test and it showed positive. She was worried and panicked beyond belief that her parents were going to kill her when they found out. Anna was to stay for dinner at Jessica’s but she left instead to go and talk to her boyfriend, Mike.

Anna pulled her car up in front of Mike’s house and could see Mike walk by the window and hand his Dad something. She slowly got out of her car and went to knock on the door. Mike was surprised to see Anna as he knew she was supposed to be eating dinner at Jessica’s. With a serious tone she told Mike that she had to talk to him. Mike grabbed his coat and yelled to his Dad that he was just going out with Anna for a bit.

Once in the car, Anna immediately told Mike she was pregnant. His first reaction was one of disbelief saying “it was only that one time” and couldn’t understand how she could possibly be pregnant. His disbelief quickly turned to anger when he slapped his open hand on the dashboard and told Anna to drive. He didn’t care where they went he just told her to drive anywhere.

The following day Anna went for an appointment at the Planned Parenthood Centre to get a proper pregnancy test done. After a urine test and pelvic exam by a Dr. Jones, he confirmed her worst fear – she was definitely pregnant and in her first trimester. He told her she would require continuing care and pre-natal vitamins. Anna, still feeling stunned told him she had it covered, walked out of his office and vowed never to see Dr. Jones again because he had suggested both terminating the pregnancy and giving up the baby for adoption which infuriated her. Neither was an option for Anna, come hell or high water, she WAS keeping this baby.

Anna drove to the University of Maine Campus Library and parked in the lot. She got out of her vehicle and headed to the Admissions Office when she heard Mike calling her. He caught up to her and asked if she went to the doctor and was she really pregnant. When she told him “yes”,he said he’d marry her and they’d be a family. Anna said with or without him, married or not she was keeping the bby. Mike said that they’d have to tell their parents that evening. Mike asked what she was doing in the Admissions Office and Anna replied “withdrawing from school.” She suddenly realized what time it was and if she didn’t leave right now she’d be late for her after-school dental office job. She decided to return to the Admissions Office another day.

Mike’s parents took the pregnancy news badly with Mike’s Dad calling Anna a whore and blaming her for ruining their son’s life. Anna’s parents took the news much better. They weren’t exactly overjoyed at the prospect their nineteen-year-old daughter was pregnant, but nonetheless accepted the news.

Anna gave birth to a beautiful baby boy whom she named, Justin Michael. He was a handsome devil for sure. Anna poured her entire being into raising Justin and was as good a mother as anyone could possibly be. She doted on Justin, disciplined him, taught him to pray and raised him to be a fine outstanding member of society.

However, Justin had other ideas when he became a teenager and disappeared. Anna was literally heartbroken and crushed almost beyond functioning. Then one day she met a soldier on a beach and that encounter changed her life forever.

Entrusted was a beautifully written novel. I’m still crying from the ending, but are they tears of joy or sorrow? You’ll have to read the story to find out.

“Yes, but we must never forget that God has entrusted us with our children. His plans for them are far greater than we could even fathom.”

Wow. Such an emotional read that embezzles it's way deeply in your heart. I'm not a mother myself but I've never cried before because of a book but this one really touched me. It's genuinely timeless and exquisite.
....

"Entrusted" tells the story of a mother trying to find answers. Pregnant at the age of 19, Anna gives birth and raises her son Justin the best she can. Only, when Justin becomes a teen things all change. Justin becomes distant and pushes away from Anna and at 18 disappears from her life leaving her heartbroken.

Desperate to find answers, she encounters a soldier years later while on vacation who may be the key to reconnecting with her estranged son. Only what starts off as a simple quest to find reason turns out to be a journey of love, faith, and also forgiveness.

My thoughts:
Sherry Rummler definitely is a talent to behold. Her writing and ways of conveying the relationship between Anna and Justin was utterly heartbreaking yet beautiful. I had to pause many times in the book because I was in awe of what I read and learned.

"Entrusted" will tug readers' heartstrings and make them re-evaluate life. I know I did. I learned a few valuable life lessons while reading this and won't take anything I gained for granted.

I also appreciated how she brought in the theme of God without getting all preachy and overbearing on readers. That was bold since when authors tend to mention God and anything to do with the Bible, it can feel very forced and unnatural.

Thank you Sherry Rummler for this wonderful read. I hope to hear more from your work in the future.

I loved the characters in this book. They were real, spoke to me and we comforted each other as I journey with her on hers. This read was easy to read and fall in love with. The main story plot is of life and a much too young, mother to be and marriage that wasn't what either thought it would be. Her life was full and busy and wrapped around her child and providing leaving nothing for her as a person. Many friendships were formed with love and understanding and a new found hope and joy in her Lord. The book takes you through her life through many conflicts and even a ending that makes you cry wishing one detail could have been different. A sadness and ability to cope.
The only downfall to this read was the time line seem to jump from from moment to months later without the in between. The child goes to visit his father at an age of around four and suddenly the next chapter shows his 10th birthday. Other then that I simply adored this book and meeting the characters and walking through their journey.
I received this book kindly from the author Sherry Rummler and thank her very much for the opportunity to read it. I shall look for her next book as well.

Entrusted by Sherry Rummler draws you from the very beginning. The Prologue provides us an introduction to Anna, who is wondering why her son has not contacted her. The last sentence of the Prologue sets up the story perfectly: "She had given so much of herself to him, that when he walked away he took part of her."

Anna was just 19 went she got pregnant with her son, Justin. The story takes us with Anna on her journey raising Justin. Through the years, people come into Anna's life just as she needs them. With her faith in God and the support of her friends, she provides a home for Justin. Although everything might not go as she planned, Anna leans on God to direct her on the right path. During some of the difficult times, God reminds her that even though she is Justin's mother, Justin is not hers but His.

This novel is well-written with a intriguing story of God's having a plan for our lives. We just need to learn to have faith in Him to provide His plan in the perfect time.

Excellent debut! 4 stars

Favorite passage:

"God doesn't look at religion, child. He looks at your heart."

What a timely reminder! I received this book for review and it came at the perfect time! As I struggle with my teenage step-daughter, I needed the reminder that God only loans us His children and He has a plan for their life. One would think that as she is the 6th step/foster child that has gone through this house, I would have the lesson down by now- but sometimes we all need a little nudge or reminder. I could identify with the hardships of being a single mom, having had gone through that myself, along with an ex that seems to be sailing through life and letting us struggle on a daily basis. My story does not follow the book completely, but the emotions and situations have been in my past. It is hard to remember when you are struggling with a teen that God does have His hand in all of this, but the good news that I try to hang on to is that my son turned out to be quite the responsible adult and there is hope for my stepdaughter. Parents, read this book if for no reason other than to realize that we ALL go through the struggle and that God has His hand on this situation too!

What a fantastic read! I've never read a book by this author, it was offered free for download for a day, I had missed the offer. I'm so glad she's in our 2 friends promote authors group on Facebook as I approached about if it was still free. Luckily for me she made it a gift to me.

No matter how important or small part each character took in this wonderful story each one was very memorable.

For me, a book has to be exciting, or thrilling, grip me from the outset, emotive etc this had it all.

Emotions were the high point in this story and my hat goes off to the author as she has such style and conveys everything excellently.

You won't get any spoilers from me!
I'd highly recommend this book to you. If you are reading this review that means the book has your attention, Noe read inside, you won't regret it.

Sherry sent me a copy of her book and asked that I review it when I finished. I can honestly say that its been quite a while since I've had a book touch me so deeply. To say that I loved this book is such an understatement. I recommend this to anyone who is a parent, who has a parent and who is wanting to become a parent. You will not be disappointed. I hope that the author will be coming out with another book really soon. This is one of the few books that I will definitely be reading more than once.

Thank you Sherry for sending me this book. I enjoyed it more than I can express here. Just wanted to let you know I finished it in two days. :)

A must read! This book takes you on a journey through a mother's life, the ups and downs, the joys and heart breaks. It leaves you laughing and crying, but most importantly it makes you believe you are part of the story. You feel all the emotions Anna feels, and then some. Once you start reading, you're never going to want to put it down! Wish there were other books by this author, because I would buy them all in a heart beat!

This is a fantastic must read story... Especially if your a mum. I read this in one sitting. It gripped me totally.
There was a lot about God in this book which I thought would put me off but without the religion in this story it wouldn't be such a great story.
This was a sweet story which certainly could bring a tear to your eye.
After just finishing this book all I can say is.... Wow.
I highly recommend this book.

An emotional journey that truly explores the relationship of a mother and son and just how much she feels responsible for him. There connection is strong, even if not always healthy. I am definitely shelving this novel to use for quotes in my writing.

Sherry Rummler has written a sweet, hopeful tale with characters who are brimming with heart. I found the main character, Anna, so genuine and kind I felt like I'd known her for years. During our lives, heartbreak finds most of us. Enchanted allows us to feel the camaraderie of kindred soul. Well done, Sherry Rummler!

I liked this book. The main character, Anna, is believable and just like someone we all may know. I could identify with her struggles as a single mom. Although sad and tragic for Anna, there is still hope & something to live for. Good job, Sherry Rummler!

This is an excellent book! Be prepared with a box of tissues beside you before you delve into it though. With my first child on the way it tugged on my heartstrings. I will wait and read it again in a couple years and I think it'll be even more emotional for me then!

I enjoyed this book, especially since it was a Christian-based book. It had just the right amount of twists and turns...not one too many. It was also an easy read, with the short chapters.

I really enjoyed this book.

I have only 2 complaints, but one is only little, and the other may be more a matter of perception than anything.

In the beginning of the book, she mixes language a bit, back and forth in the dialogue for a given character between things like "wanna" and "gonna" (perfectly acceptable for dialogue), and dialogue sentences right next to those that are so formal they don't use a single contraction. Like I said, not a big deal, not even incorrect, just a bit jarring as you read. However, that only happened a couple of times at the beginning of the book, and then she seemed to get a real feel for the dialogue.

The other thing is that it seems preachy at times. This wouldn't bother me at all if the blurb on the back said something about how the story is about "all this stuff and how her faith sustained her". Because that really is what it's about, and that would have been good to know.

To be fair, I should say that I'm not Christian, and that this is surely coloring my perception here - I keep asking myself, if the main character was Buddhist, or Pagan, or whatever... would it bother me, or would it just be another part of the story? I honestly don't know. Having been somewhat forcibly raised a Christian, it's entirely possible that the reaction is due to my history, rather than any fault of the story.

In any case, all that said, I really enjoyed it. :D

At the start of the book, the main character, Anna is pondering her life as it is now. Then it flashes to the story of her life from teen to well into her adult years.

She faced struggles as a young mother raising a child on her own. Being that she is a single parent, she and Justin formed a very strong mother - son bond. Dealing with her son as he grows into a strong willed, independent teen was a challenge. Justin, as so many teens do, pushed his mother away and soon their relationship became strained. Strained to the point that he moved away and lost contact with her.

This was an interesting feel good book with a spiritual tone to it, but nothing overwhelming in that way. The ending of the book leaves you sad for Anna yet at peace with the conclusions she has come to about her life. Not much more can be said without spoiling the story! I give Entrusted 3.5 Stars.

*I recieved a free copy of this book through First Reads*

3.5 Stars.

I liked this story a lot, but it was not at all what I expected. From the description, I expected to read about a mother searching for her son. But the story covered all of Justin's 18 years; Anna's struggles being a young single mother; their life after they move from Maine to Minnesota; and Anna's struggles with her faith. Her search for her son only covers a very small portion of the book.

I finished this book in a few hours. A quick, easy read that reinforces the fact that we are not in charge of our lives... there is a greater plan.

This story could be about any mothers life, as it deals with a lot of things we have all been through at some point in our relationships or with our children It was a story where all of the characters add something to the way this story evolves, good or bad. It also deals with the necessity of friendships and in this case also with the questions of Faith. I didn't realize that this was Christian fiction when I bought it, and usually I don't like to have those kind of views thrown at me but as this seems to be the authors genre, and the inclusion of it becomes a necessary part of her characters story. I found it very readable and the storyline interesting.
