Do you ever feel you are too busy focussing on certain areas of life that the truly important things pass you by? The paradox of modern life is that the more we chase the 'bigger and better' things to bring us contentment, the more difficult true happiness becomes to find. If we really want to discover what is truly important to us, we need to take a more fundamental approach. We need to get 'unplugged'. It's time to get back to basics, to go back to the 'acoustic' version of life without all the rush and hustle. Taking a step back from what we think we want can often show us what it is we truly want, and only by becoming 'unplugged' from what we have been chasing can we reconnect with what truly matters. Unplugged is the book that will help readers do just this and enable them to re-identify what it is that truly matters to them. Unplugged doesn't require complex techniques, classes or down-sizing. Unplugged simply requires a subtle shift of thinking and a fresh approach to life. It is an opportunity to step off the whirlwind ride through the calendar and re-engage with life.
There are some books that just keep speaking to you every time you go past them. You can't really afford to buy them and you really don't really need them, well you think you don't, but yet there it is again giving off those loving vibes. Unplugged as to be one of those books. Looking at it in the bookshop it all appeared a little 'cheesy, haven't i read all this before, kinda thing. However i was wrong
Yes at first glance it looks like another one of those books that promise you a perfect life if only you exactly what it say, but it really isn't. And, Yes there is a whole lot of things that you can try but it's up to you to decide how they fit you and your life style, or maybe you would like a new life style and don't know where to begin.
The book is all about living 'Unplugged' but that doesn't necessarily mean unplugging the television although that could be one area in which you would like to concentrate on. It more about unplugging from life to get the life you want even if other people, including your nearest and dearest, don't get it and think you have lost the plot. For me that is not a problem as my nearest and dearest already think i have.
There are 7 Principles of being Unplugged; Simplicity, wisdom, passion, direction, possibility, love and being. Each Principle has 10 factors. The idea behind the book is that each morning you chose a number from 1-7 (principle) and then 1-10 (factor) although you can begin any place you like. You can read the book from the beginning to the end or pick and chose as you go. What you won't do is be willing to part with it in a hurry as you will want to come back and keep reading it and using it. There are also chapters on, Unplugged for live and breath, work, home, kids and Life. One point that they make in the book is that we need to learn to work from 'Simplistic (this is hard) = Complex (this is impossible) = Simplicity (this is straight forward).
Although this is a book i would gladly read again and again, sharing it might be difficult as i may never be finished with it.
