First off, let me admit that I work for the authors - but that wouldn't make me LOVE their book. The book did that on it's own. The recipes are easy to follow, they work as described and they are delicious. What's not to love?!?! I have not yet made the switch to being completely raw but I made the cashew cheese at home and it rocked, with very little prep and items I already had in my kitchen. Then I made the Hibiscus Wine and it is quite possibly habit-forming... Like a great sangria without the sugar. This book is helping me get my foodie gratification with things that are good for me. What's up with that?!?!?!!
Pretty much as it states, a quick and easy intro to the raw food concept. I liked the understanding throughout the book that "high raw", aka 100% raw or close to, is no needed to benefit from the nutritional principles of the movement. This is an informational book, not an evangelical one.
I really appreciated all the details in this book. What don't they tell you about ☺ You can be new to this way of eating or a seasoned raw foodist and still find something useful you didn't know. The book is also well organized within each chapter. While I'm not sure I lime the order of the chapters themselves, the content within is easy to navigate. One thing that I found myself wishing for was more recipes, though.
I am overall very impressed with this Dummies guide! Very simple to understand the basics of dehydrating, sprouting, and culturing your own foods to preserve the highest density of nutrients as possible. Rented this book from the library and am adding it to my wish-list of to-buys. Great recipes at the end of the book! Wish there were practical tips on how to convert to a more raw lifestyle.
A great primer for a raw food newbie like me. I have been reading a lot so some of the info I already knew but lots of great tips, recipes and menu planning (!). I am going to be buying this book for my raw food book collection.
