This book was very difficult to get into and I wasn't that invested in the characters. Plus there was a lot going on that took away from some of the other aspects of the story and actually was a bit confusing.

Megan was quite annoying early on in the story and I felt that she just wasn't listening to Jean-Paul most of the time. He wanted to take responsibility for his part in the pregnancy as he was the experienced partner. Makes sense. However, you have Megan going on and on about how it is all her fault. Annoying! I understand that Megan doesn't want a loveless marriage, but she had to understand that as a royal she doesn't have the luxuries that she would have had she just been a regular person.

Jean-Paul was a good character. He showed his frustration with Megan's continued refusal of the wedding and seemed interested in everything that was going on. He spends nearly the entire book trying to convince Megan to marry him and I really felt his frustration and anger in moments. Although Megan's feelings are the whole point of the first half of the book I found myself more interested in Jean-Paul's point of view than Megan's.

I did find the sub-plot about the King and Queen interesting and the mysterious illness as well. Although I already know where they will find the source of the illness in the following books, I am still kinda curious about it, but not so curious as to actively look for the next book.

I think had the book been more about the relationship building between Megan and Jean-Paul while planning their wedding or after their wedding more than the tension between them about whether Megan would marry him or not it would have been more interesting. I even think that if less time had been spent on the sub-plot, despite the fact that I liked it, it could have been a bit more interesting.

Overall, I found Megan to be selfish in her refusal to marry Jean-Paul for so long simply because she didn't want a loveless marriage instead of thinking of her child, her position and the needs of the future that having a husband would help her overcome. First half of the book was very difficult to get through because it was very heavy with everything going on, second half was a bit better because more focus was put on the feelings between Megan and Jean-Paul. I understand that this is the first in a series of books, but I think that there was too much going on to fit into only 251 pages.

Oh great gods, I finished this.
The first half, torture. Megan's "I want a Love Marrige" was a bit grating. Like, you're a Royal, I know it sucks, but you knew this marriage was gunna happen. Suck it up.

Then, bam, second half less grating (probably because I had a break from the book and got a smutty slash fic to calm me.)

In all, it went from, I will toss this book to the wall and damned it if I dont finished this trash to, I will finish it.

Though one problem I have is that the story arc of Queen Marissa and King Morgan isn't complete. Also, clearly the jam jars are infected. I mean, king is sick, Megan eats some after suspicious noise, BAM, she is sick too.

Don't wanna read the series to find out what happens because screw you book, you weren't THAT interesting for me to torture myself at reading you're sequels to find out.

Please someone spoil it for me!! (About the King and Queen and Morgan's twin brother!!!)

Princess meets Prince Charming. Princess sleeps with Prince Charming. Princess gets pregnant? Princess refuses request for her hand in marriage?

This book only gets four stars because I can not believe the princess (Megan) in this story. She was so immature about the whole thing. She gets knocked up and doesn't want to take on her responsibility. Oh she wants the baby (Like she's really going to be raising it considering all the people there to help her care for it). But she doesn't want to bite the bullet and marry the Prince who knocked her up. And why? Because she wants to marry for love. I won't say what I want to here about that.

Either way it was a good book. I read it. I liked it. The chemistry felt real between the two main characters. This being a series of course we aren't allowed to get all our questions answered. Bummer.

It was all over the place before it even settled into the scene.
