Rita Kerr has written about the Runaway Scrape in such a way that younger children can relate to the main characters who are 8, 10 and 13 years of age. It is an excellent book written from the memoirs of Dilue Rose Harris and gives younger children life on the prairie in the mid 1800's and the Battle of San Jacinto. Remember the Alamo. Remember Goliad. Come and Take It! Great book!
