The Book of Saints [Hardcover] Hoagland C.P., Victor

Rate this book
This bestselling book is based on the Church calendar, and the text encompasses the lives of nearly 200 saints. Black and White pencil sketches enhance the text which includes the official feast day, a brief description, and a short prayer. This allows the busy "pray-er" to celebrate with the Church the Saint or Feast of the Day by learning about them and praying to them. This would be an excellent gift for a high school or college graduate. It would also be perfect for a newly baptized Catholic or one who expresses a desire to learn more about the Catholic faith through the journeys of holy men and women. Hardcover.

As someone who is non-Catholic, there was a great introduction to the major Saints of the Catholic Faith. I enjoyed learning about their histories, their stories, and the reasons for their sainthood. For example, understanding why hospitals choose certain saints (ie: St. Agnes, St. Joesph, St. Jude). Plus, this is an excellent reference to always come back to in the future. Having past (and present) saints to learn from is one of the ways my faith is constantly strengthen.
