caillou is a magnificent book. he pooped his pants 10 times in this book. while i read this, i also pooped my pants a few times from the suspence. this book is NOT RECOMMENDED FOR CHILDREN. this book has a few scenes with nudity, so don't read this to children unless you want your children to go to prison.
I love this character! I introduced my kids to him as toddlers, and we still watch his show from time to time. This potty time installment is perfect. It's colorful, encouraging, bright, and engaging. Well done!
It is hard to find good potty books! This one starts off with Caillou's mommy getting him a surprise potty and telling him he doesn't need diapers anymore. I hate that this book doesn't talk about Caillou being at all interested in switching from diapers until mommy "surprises" him. This isn't what potty learning should look like if you ask me. I did like that this book brings up accidents as they are bound to happen. I just wish that the parents didn't assure Caillou that "next time" he would make it to the potty; maybe he won't make it next time either but "you'll get it!" would convey to Caillou that his parents believe in him. Toward the end of the book, Caillou's mom tells him to come sit on the potty and he does because "he wants to make his mommy happy" which bothers me too. In the end Caillou gets out of bed to "pee" and the illustration shows Caillou with toys all around his potty seat.
Even though mom and dad don't pronounce this kid's name consistently, it was still a pretty good book. Mom doesn't really like the part where Caillou puts the potty on his head (stop giving my kids ideas) but I think it's funny. When I got my own potty, as we were reading this book I would make comments about "my potty over there!" or "me have potty too!" When Caillou had an accident, I pointed out that he needs "new pants". It was good to have a book about someone else learning the same things I am. It was also another book that I liked a lot and never (rarely?) wanted to read it only once in a sitting - I usually asked "read 'gain?" at least once, sometimes twice!
Caillou Potty Time reveals itself as an emotional story. In this book, Caillou overcomes the struggle of learning how to use the toilet. It's quite relatable, as I, too, struggle to use the toilet.

. Geared toward 3 to 6 year olds Caillou - Potty Time tells the story anyone who has ever had a toddler remembers too well. Trying to teach their child what the p0tty is for and to use it. It is probably one of the few times we will ever have a party celebrating someone going to the bathroom. Caillou is a typical toddler, he wants to please his parents, but it is not as easy as it seems. It will help those in training understand "accidents" happen but with effort and practice it will happen. Just don't forget yourself. Beautiful illustrations by use color to hold the young reader's interest. My rating is 4 1/2 out of 5 stars.
Caillou is getting older and he is still wearing diapers. He wants to wear underpants but he needs to learn to use the potty. Mommy surprises Caillou with a potty for him to use. Caillou’s a big boy now. He still has a few accidents, but after a while, he learns to use the potty, flush after he dumps it and to ask to use the potty when he needs it. I thought it was cute when he did not want to flush his poop down the toilet, that is exactly what my son did as well.
We are getting ready to toilet/potty train our grandson and this book will come in handy to help him. He loves to read so reading him this while he sits on his potty might just do the trick. A great little book to help with this step of development.
I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
A nice book about what a child goes through when potty training. It can help them feel as though it's Okay for accidents to happen and it's Okay to struggle with learning new skills.
I enjoyed the colourful and high contrasting illustrations and the fact that the words are well placed and easy to read. It should help any potty training parents!
This potty book covers using the potty and having accidents. Caillou wants to make his parents happy, which is a nice example for my little one to follow.
A big favorite at our house right now. I think it's helping a lot. The sandbox picture is Emilia's page. :) All we have to say is, "Don't you want to be like Caillou?" It gets her every time.
