Mike and Bruce have escaped the hospital and the city. Only to find infected aren't their only worry. With them they have brought survivors back to the farm and that was never part of any plan. How will they feed, clothe and help those who join them. How can those that join the family help them? They traveled through hell to come home but hell is now everywhere. Civilization has collapsed and now they must survive.

Well, I had mixed feelings about book one. By contrast, book two stopped me from reading the rest of the series. Or at least it would have if I finished it. First of all, there are a lot of characters and no review/reference as to who they are. Again plenty of references to rape and cursing. And the blue zombies are more prominent. Oh and they are getting smarter so I assume more violence is to come. The characters were really good, but I dislike the other stuff enough to stop.
Bruce, Mike, Debbie, Angela and the whole crazy crew do it again. Although this book spends a significant amount of time on introspection and relationships, it more than makes up for with the absolute craziness in all things. From Bruce's selfless actions of love to his indifferent interrogations to his crazy kid on Christmas morning excitement at browsing a fully stocked armory it is clear he truly is the king of the meat-eaters.
The book continues as they find and take in more survivors, fight to make their area safer from both scumbag savages and infected, and build the beginnings of a new civilization (albeit, with more common sense, honor, love and a wet dreams worth of weapons). In the Blue Plague series the familial and clan relationships play just as much of a part in the story as the action. The interactions between characters manage to often times be more entertaining than the high-intensity battles. Add to that, that, even during lulls in the story their antics are never dull or mundane.
So crack open the pages and hop into Bruce's bed along with the other three women, four kids and baby PJ.... Just don't dare leave your socks on in the bed, or Bruce will wake up flipping out about giant caterpillars crawling on him.
The first book in this series has a few problems but an interesting take on the zombie genre, so I decided to read on. I struggled to finish for many reasons.
Gender roles and stereotypes: the male characters are huge and the female characters are tiny and always sitting on the men's laps. The women are small but strong and constantly hitting their husbands and male friends with undefined relationships.
Extreme violence: there's killing zombies and fighting marauders, but also a lot of in fighting among people in the group. Beating up someone for insulting someone you love is perfectly acceptable behavior. People who won't do whatever Bruce wants are dehumanized. (These characters were not good guys but the way they are handled is despicable.)
Rape and Mental Health: Bruce threatens to rape men who disagree with how he runs things. He rescues women and children who were raped repeatedly, then has zero sympathy for a woman who commits suicide after being rescued from one such camp. Both Bruce and the author are emergency room nurses; I would expect more sympathy.
Bruce is an expert in everything. One character is injured while he is away, and even though she is in the company of his wife (also a nurse) and 2 doctors, he tends to the injury when he returns.

Thus is the series that truly set Thomas Watson as a well known, oft admired, author in the post apocalyptic and zombie genres. In book two, the family has grown by leaps and bounds. While there is still a lot of action to please everyone, there is also a lot of good and needed character establishment. With Bruce, Mike, Nancy, and Debbie still the heads of the Clan, this volume shines a light on the intense amount of work that goes into being safe during an apocalypse. Fellow readers, this is a must read series for any fans of zombies, apocalyptic settings, and detailed but not overdone attention paid to weaponry. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you may even get mad right along with the characters. Because of its fine crafting of the Clan Compound and the horrors they face from without and within, I consider this a series that everyone should read... Or a foundation series if you will. Read the Blue Plague series; read all of Thomas A Watson's books! They all hold up to the amazing standards he set forth for himself in Blue Plague, and also the joyous expectations of his very dedicated group of readers/fans. Now, I have some weddings to attend in Book 3. Enjoy!
I love Thomas A. Watson's books. This is the 8th book of his that I have read in the last 6 months. I am reading them out loud to my son(he is 24 but legally blind, so it is easier for him to have them read to him). He is enjoying them as much as I am.
This book picks up exactly where the first Blue Plague left off. Bruce, Debbie, Mike and Nancy - as well as their kids and the clan are doing everything they can to prepare and give them the best chance of survival. The action is edge of your seat, then there is the drama and the human connections, and then the humor. I have found myself laughing so much reading these books. I had to stop toward the end of the book several times, because I was laughing so hard I could hardly breath!
You need to read the first one, The Fall, before this one, or it won't make any sense, but I would definitely put in the effort. They are great reads.
Ok so I read the first one. I was able to cringe my way through the misogyny because I thought the actually prepper/fall/zombie bits were well thought out. So I thought I would try the second to see if it got better. It didn't. This may be the worst book I ever read. It is by far the MOST unbelievable book I have ever read and I read Coleen Hoover.
It was not the tactical, prepper, zombie stuff again I had a problem with it was that the book just riddled with how big the main dudes dick is to the girl had an orasm just by big dick Bruce hugging her... and so much more. I can't. I get that again some books must be written for dudes by dudes because I'm sure this man has bever met a woman.

There are so many ups and downs in this book, that it's hard to describe. The foreshadowing of what's to come, just creates a much more intense reading experience. Bruce leads his family on a roller coaster ride, trying to save the world from people who have turned into blue zombies. He is an amazing strategist, and also completely nuts. He gives people hope, and crushes his enemies. He delivers justice, in a truly unique way. I absolutely could not put this down! Be prepared to lose sleep, if you get into this story, because you won't want to go to bed.
This is the second book in this emotionally charged, character driven series. The action has really picked up as the group is taking the fight to the blues not allowing them to mass or become bigger hordes. They've also come across a very chilling bit of information while out on a supply run, the blues are learning to set up ambushes and to hold back from attacks. The group has also grown as they find more and more survivors to join their family. I'm looking forward to diving into the next book.
Another awesome book by Thomas A. Watson! I really enjoy the humor that goes into his story. There are serious and sad parts which are to be expected. The clan would be a great place to survive during a zombie apocalypse. I can't wait to start the third one.
I loved this book by Thomas A. Watson. I also loved these characters. I can’t wait for the next book in this series. I would recommend this book and all of this Thomas’ books. I listened to this book on audiobook.
Awesome novels.... Nothing bad, I can say about this series. Action, horror, romance, honor, family, gore, guns. What else can a red blooded American ask for...
A damn fine book, I was drawn in quickly. Thomas A. Watson has developed characters that you can't help but feel invested in. His story telling is top notch.
This second book continues to follow the two Louisiana families or 'the clan' as they struggle to bring more survivors to their farm and continue securing it from the infected and the roaming gangs. With so many dangers outside of their fences, being prepared and ready is the only way to be.
So much of this book had me laughing out loud at the antics and blatant vulgarity of the main characters! It's written in a very real way and doesn't harp on 'political correctness'. It's refreshing and wonderfully focused on genuine respect towards fellow survivors. The entire book is filled with questions from some of the characters, and excellent answers from others. It probably isn't a favorite book for some because it absolutely does not hold back....and I loved it!
An outstanding series so far with a 'no holds barred' attitude. I'm looking forward to more of this series!
This book picks up where The Fall, Blue Plague 1 leaves off. This series is in now way "politically correct", it has a 'no nonsense, tell it like it is' way of describing the events that happen. Good character interaction and plenty of twists to keep you hooked and leaving you ready to read book 3. 'The clan' is bringing in more survivors and working to reinforce and add on to the compound to allow room for the added survivors.
Graphic violence, lots of profanity, and a lot of fire power, but that's not what I liked the most about this book. There are fantastic family dynamics and a lot of occasions when I laughed out loud at the family's antics. You've got to have a sense of humour in the Apocalypse!
This is a great series of books. The story is about what could happen (and probably would happen) to the country during a major disaster in the country, and hopefully that there would be some people that would want to save humanity and rebuild I really enjoyed reading it. I can't wait to read the next one.
I think this one of the best story you will e eyes read. There are four or five books in Blue Plague and this is the 3rd time I am reading them. I love the way this family is. I feel the same Family first great Books.
Most of this tale was dark as the Clan fights for survival. But there are many light hearted moments that leaves you in tears from laughing. One word...Bigfoot!
